Alice provided wonderful care to my dog and 2 cats. She went above and beyond from start to finish. The regular updates gave me complete peace of mind — it was clear our animals were happy, comfortable, and in great hands. She also treated my home with total respect. Everything was exactly as I left it when I returned. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and takes her responsibility seriously. We will absolutely book her again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and caring pet sitter.

About: 🌺 I will be on hiatus for dog services July-August for recovery. I will reopen dog services mid August!🌺 I bring over 10 years of hands-on experience working with animals, including more than 5 years as a kennel assistant and 5 years as a veterinary assistant. In addition to caring for my own pets, I’ve developed strong skills in administering medications, including insulin and asthma treatments. My time in a veterinary hospital has also given me valuable experience working with animals of all temperaments, allowing me to stay calm, patient, and attentive in any situation. I’m a full-time pet sitter, which means your pet gets my complete time, attention, and care. I’m dedicated to making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved, and that their time with me is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I have 5 years of veterinary medical experience and feel confident providing a wide range of care for pets of all needs—from those requiring more involved medical support to those who simply need extra love and cuddles. I take cleanliness and safety seriously, thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing between each client to ensure a healthy, comfortable environment for your furry friend.

I am very appreciative that Karen was able to take over for another sitter. She was at a disadvantage because we did not get to meet before the stay started. So, she missed out on the intricate details of each dog and their behavior. But, she was caring and professional and did what was required. Also left the house so clean and even vacuumed! During the stay we gave her some tips to control one of our anxious dogs. She followed the instructions and made the rest of the visit much better. I would definitely recommend her.

They also left our house SO clean. They really go above and beyond, and we are so grateful to have found them for future pet/house sits! Thank you, Sam & Solene! 🌺

About: I’ve cared for friends and family dogs since 2020, offering boarding, sitting, and even basic training to keep pups happy and learning. I always make sure they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. Pup care fits easily into my daily routine since I currently have plenty of free time and love spending it with animals. I’m living on base and unemployed right now, so my schedule is very flexible — which means I can give pets my full attention for walks, playtime, and keeping them comfortable throughout the day. Your pet safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I make sure every walk is safe, fun and suited to their energy level. If your pup prefers staying cozy at home, I’m just as happy to play with them in their own comfort zone.

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with a Maltese who was my best friend, and since then I've been the go to dog sitter for friends and family. I've cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities, including Huskies, Border Collies, Poodles, Shiba Inus, and many more. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and tend to treat them like my own kids. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or keeping them company while you're away, I'll make sure your pup feels safe, happy, and loved. I work from home so I'm pretty flexible. The earlier we communicate the more flexibility I have. Typically more available in the afternoons and evenings I know leaving your dog with someone else can feel a little nerve wracking, so I'll do my best to make it easy for both you and your pup! Whether I'm stopping by for a visit, taking them on a walk, or staying overnight, I'll follow their usual routine and give them plenty of attention, playtime, and care. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your dog is safe, happy, and getting lots of love while you're away.

About: Aloha. I'm Summer. I am a stay-at-home wife and mom looking to bring in some extra income. I have loved animals since forever. I grew up with pets (dogs, cats, a rabbit, and fish). I have experience house sitting with pets, dog walking, and worked in an animal hospital. I don't have any fur babies of my own yet, but I do have a fur nephew, Ninja who I love very much. I am able to give medication if needed. I'm currently available Monday through Friday in the morning to the early afternoons. Weekends I am typically unavailable, but for the right pet, I can adjust my schedule. I will care for your home and your pet as if it's my family. I am respectful of boundaries, and rules even if it doesn't line up with my own beliefs. I understand that pets are very important to families and would never take that lightly.

About: I’ve taken care of pets of all kinds for years and would love to be of service to someone who needs help on the weekends, early mornings, or evenings. I would be happy to sit and hang out with an elderly dog or take your active pup on a hike. When I’m not with your dog, I’m working at castle hospital, at the gym or doing photography. I work 8-4pm Monday to Friday so I’m open to early morning walks or evening check ins until 10pm. Open to flexible needs on the weekends and holiday coverage. I currently live with a husky so it would be best if I came to your home. Unfortunately, I am allergic to cats so I can’t be around them but dogs are okay!

We love Jackie! We have used her in the past and she will always be our first pick. We recently lost one of our dogs and the other was definitely feeling his absence. Jackie took great care of him and he seemed to come out of his funk while she was here. She gave frequent daily updates and left our house in great condition.

John was absolutely incredible with our 3 dogs (that range in age and size - 12 yr old Golden, 10 yr old Golden, 3 yr old mini-poodle)! He stayed the night while we were traveling allowing the pups to feel comfortable in their own home. He even sent pictures to us throughout the day. The pups had a blast!! He is a licensed veterinarian and an epidemiologist, which made us feel extra comfortable. He also agreed to an initial meeting with the pups before the booking. We will absolutely be using John again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Marine Corps Base Hawaii

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Marine Corps Base Hawaii on Rover is $57.18 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,022 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Marine Corps Base Hawaii walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Marine Corps Base Hawaii maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Marine Corps Base Hawaii choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Marine Corps Base Hawaii. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
