About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with a Maltese who was my best friend, and since then I've been the go to dog sitter for friends and family. I've cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities, including Huskies, Border Collies, Poodles, Shiba Inus, and many more. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and tend to treat them like my own kids. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or keeping them company while you're away, I'll make sure your pup feels safe, happy, and loved. I work from home so I'm pretty flexible. The earlier we communicate the more flexibility I have. Typically more available in the afternoons and evenings I know leaving your dog with someone else can feel a little nerve wracking, so I'll do my best to make it easy for both you and your pup! Whether I'm stopping by for a visit, taking them on a walk, or staying overnight, I'll follow their usual routine and give them plenty of attention, playtime, and care. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your dog is safe, happy, and getting lots of love while you're away.
“Whitney is wonderful! Whenever we need someone to help us with our dogs, she is the first one we reach out to. She gives our dogs so much attention to ensure they are receiving the best care possible. We are so thankful for Whitney!”

About: Aloha! I am a dog-loving, mom of three boys, two dogs, and a military spouse of 15 years. Being flexible and dependable is pretty much my lifestyle. I grew up with dogs, and I’ve personally cared for my own since I was an adult. I have also fostered rescue dogs for Okinawa Stray Pet Rescue. I have experience with a wide range of breeds, all sizes, and dogs from newborn puppy to 15 year old seniors with very limited mobility. I am probably over paranoid when it comes to safety, so you can trust that your dog will be in good, responsible hands! I understand that each dog is unique, and I treat each one as if they were my own. I know how important it is to feel confident in who you choose to care for your fur baby, and I’m happy to provide what your pup needs! My only time constraints are shuttling kids to and from school and activities so I have lots of free time to spend with your pup! As previously mentioned, I am very cautious and your dog’s safety is my top priority. I have personally owned dogs who are “runners” so I’m constantly aware of my surroundings and the dog’s behavior when caring for them.
“Alyson is awesome, always on time, and always keeps us updated in how our dog does on her walks. We are using a dog walker every other week to expose our fearful dog to more people (recommended by trainer). We appreciate Alyson being part of our journey in helping our pup being less fearful.”

“MaryAnn was once more exceptional. Having her drop by when we're away for long days has really had a positive impact on Winston, and we are grateful for her and her services. Thank you, MaryAnn!”

About: Aloha. I'm Summer. I am a stay-at-home wife and mom looking to bring in some extra income. I have loved animals since forever. I grew up with pets (dogs, cats, a rabbit, and fish). I have experience house sitting with pets, dog walking, and worked in an animal hospital. I don't have any fur babies of my own yet, but I do have a fur nephew, Ninja who I love very much. I am able to give medication if needed. I'm currently available Monday through Friday in the morning to the early afternoons. Weekends I am typically unavailable, but for the right pet, I can adjust my schedule. I will care for your home and your pet as if it's my family. I am respectful of boundaries, and rules even if it doesn't line up with my own beliefs. I understand that pets are very important to families and would never take that lightly.

About: I’ve taken care of a handful of dogs before and every experience I’ve had was nothing short of amazing. I hope to have the privilege to experience more of that. I’m currently unemployed and hoping to make a little money so fitting your babies into my schedule is no problem at all as I'm only doing school now. I currently only have Guinea pigs and cats in my home, we have had dogs before but not anymore. I would say the care I give my animals goes above and beyond, I absolutely adore my babies so nothing is too much for them. I feed, play and clean up after them every single day and I really do enjoy all of it. Animals are absolutely my passion and i hope to pursue something long term involving them and so it is my absolute pleasure to watch over your babies because they get me one step closer to being able to do that. Two words I would use to describe my cats, loved and spoiled.
About: I got my first dog when I was 4 and started dog sitting for neighbors when I was 8. I worked with a group when I lived in Kansas City that did short term in-home dog fostering for 1 day to two weeks. My puppy experience comes from a few of my friends having puppies, but adult dogs are my favorite. I work full time from home, and can schedule walks in between meetings during the day. If the dog(s) are up for it I would love to take them hiking, SUPing, kayaking, to the beach, and to hang out with my friend's dogs. I prefer to keep the dog on a similar schedule to what they are used to and not overwhelm them with new experiences while their owners are gone. Please provide me with the needed information of your dog's routine.
“Laura helped with our dogs when we were on vacation. We scheduled a time for her to meet them when we arrived, so they were familiar with her. She was awesome and took good care of our babies! It's obvious, she loves pups.”

“Awesome experience with Tony taking care of our pups. He was so sweet with them, and sent pictures every day to ease my anxious dog-mom mind. Communication was excellent, and Tony was flexible with taking care of each dog's individual needs and quirks. Would definitely use Tony and Karen again when the need arises!”

About: Hi! I recently made the move to beautiful Hawaiʻi, and I’m so excited to be part of this community — especially the pet-loving one! Living here has made me appreciate even more how important daily movement, sunshine, and fresh air are (for both humans and pups!). While working full-time in my professional HR career, I spent two years dog walking with Pups and Recreation because being around dogs truly fills my cup. It was never “just” a side job — it was something I genuinely looked forward to every week. Now that I’m settling into island life, I’m offering weekend walks and drop-in visits so your pup can get their steps (and sniffs!) in while you’re out enjoying your weekend plans. Whether your dog loves a brisk, energy-burning walk or a slower stroll with plenty of sniff breaks, I’m happy to match their vibe. I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities, and I understand that each one has their own quirks (which honestly makes them even better). I’m patient, attentive, and big on communication — you’ll always get updates and photos so you can feel totally at ease. If your pup needs weekend adventure walks, potty breaks, playtime, or just some extra love and attention, I’m your girl. I’ll treat them like my own — belly rubs included. Can’t wait to meet your furry family member! 🐶🌴 I work full-time Monday through Friday, which is why I dedicate my weekends to pet care! 🐾 I’m available for weekend walks and drop-in visits only, and I have full flexibility on Saturdays and Sundays to meet your needs. Whether you need an early morning walk, mid-day drop-in, evening potty break, or multiple visits in one day, I’m happy to accommodate your schedule. Because I intentionally keep my weekends open for pet care, your pup will have my full attention — no rushing between commitments. I love spending my weekends outside, so dog walks fit naturally into my routine here in Hawaiʻi. If you’re looking for reliable, communicative, and flexible weekend care, I’d love to help! I always start by making sure your pet feels comfortable with me. I take my cues from them and move at their pace — building trust first is always my priority. If your dog is treat-motivated, I’m happy to use positive reinforcement (with your permission) to help with things like getting their leash on or easing into our walk. If they’re more independent or prefer to warm up slowly, I respect that and give them the space they need. For pups who love being outdoors, we can spend time playing and getting energy out in the yard. If they’re more companion-oriented, I’m just as happy hanging out, offering attention, belly rubs, or calm company. Every visit is tailored to your dog’s personality, routine, and comfort level. My goal is for them to feel safe, understood, and happy — and for you to feel completely confident while they’re in my care.
About: Mahalo for stopping by! I have always had a compassion for animals ever since I was a kid. In the past, I have watched friends and neighbors pets while they were away. I have watched big dogs to little dogs, High energy pups to slow, geriatric cats and dogs, birds, fish and even geckos! I have worked as a dog walker in the past and have experience with many types of breeds. I currently am a cat mom to 2 fur-babies; Tangie (the Tabby) and Kit-Kat (domestic short hair.) I am currently working part-time and have lots of extra time to spend with your pet! I am easy to communicate with and a flexible sitter. I take caring for your fur-babies very seriously and respect their space. I am attentive to your pets needs and strive to give them the best experience possible while their parents are away!

About: Ive always had pets growing up and so being around them and playing with my dog and cat at home has always been a wonderful thing for me. Since I went to school its been a little lonely without them but Ive been able to bring my dog up for some visits which is always nice. Im great with handling all size dogs so that will never be an issue. I live in a very active household, so if your pup enjoys going for long walks/runs, or just a lot of social interaction and snuggles, then we could be a really good fit. Im a very relaxed sitter, who just loves having dogs around and wants to hang out and care for your loved one.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Kāne‘ohe
Carli was so wonderful while we were away for a trip. She was timely, communicative, and extremely sweet. My dogs would wait at the door for her when they knew it was approaching the time of her arrival. My family who were home (but unable to walk them) said my pups always came back tired and content. For my dogs, tired dogs are definitely happy dogs! We will absolutely be booking with Carli again for our future walking needs.

Kayla was extremely accommodating and respectful despite my short-notice booking request. Her communication was very prompt and comforting especially the photos and videos of my pup while on walks. You really cannot ask for a better caregiver of your fur babies. Please don’t hesitate to ask her for help

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
