“Michelle super helped us out last minute when our flight got delayed! She answered right away and gave us such peace of mind by taking care of the pups. We love having her as a part of our pack!”

“We used Veronica to house sit and to watch our cat and dog. Veronica communicate with us daily about our animals and sent us pictures. She was super friendly and listened to all of our needs in taking care of our animals. I would recommend Veronica and definitely will be using her again to watch our animals.”

“Ryan is excellent. He really knows how to interact with dogs. He is prompt and communicative. And we recieived great photos of our pup every day we were gone. We will continue to book Ryan as our dog sitter!”

“Thank you so much to Rebecca! She watches our cats with the utmost care and love. She’s sends the best updates and gets the cutest pictures of our little babies. She is quick to communicate and super flexible with our crazy schedule too! The best!”

“I don’t think that anything I’ll write will do justice to how amazing her care was for my pup Archie. Ria watched Archie over Christmas and she did an amazing job. She constantly send me updates with pictures and videos. I’m always anxious leaving and always worry about Archie but I really did not have to. Archie loves her and always gets excited to see her. Ria has walked Archie many times and she takes him on little adventures to the beach or the dog park. She is very quick to respond and open to any needs. Archie can get very anxious sometimes but I know that Ria knows what to do and knows how to help him in the situation. I 100% recommend Ria for your dog sitting or walking needs. And I will definitely book with her again.”

“Janey did amazing with my Apollo and Athena. She kept up to date on walks, feeds, and my home. I highly recommend her for your babies. She will love them like her own! 10/10”

About: I have had dogs my entire life, I have experience training 4 dogs from puppy age through middle age and up until senior age! The dogs I have taken care of range from big dogs (german shepherds) to tiny dogs (teacup chihuahuas). I have a very active lifestyle that allows me to have fun with the dogs and get them active. I have experienced working with shelter dogs, I actively walked them and fed them. I HAVE BASE ACCESS :) !! My schedule has my days ending early afternoons so I would be available to stop in for walks/check-ins after. My nights are flexible for night visits. I currently live in dorm housing where animals are not allowed but for care inside client homes I will keep a watchful eye when letting your pet out and pay close attention to instructions.

About: I’ve been taking care of my own pets since I was around 8 years old. I helped my senior dog when he couldn’t do things himself, as well as helped my relatives with their senior dogs. I’ve always been drawn to helping out animals, and not just dogs. I love all pets, no matter what size or age. I have patience and will take my time to make sure your pet is safe and well taken care of. I can do anything! Bathe, feed, walk, play, and more. I’m a fresh high school graduate. I’m going into college for veterinary technology so I can become a vet tech! Pet care will help me stay occupied while learning more on how to handle animals and prepare for my future. In my home/area, I will be able to feed, bathe, walk, and play with your pets in or outdoors. The same thing goes for my client’s house too, as well as making sure everything stays tidy while still giving your pet the care they need.
“Haily and Benjamin took such wonderful care of our German Shepherd and kitty while we were out of town!! They sent daily updates and photos and our pets were so well cared for and happy. We will be requesting them anytime we are out of town ☺️”

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always surrounded by dogs, and over the years I’ve developed a genuine love and appreciation for how much joy, comfort, and unconditional love they bring into our lives. My dog Charlie had the biggest impact on me. His love was completely unconditional, and he taught me just how special the bond between a person and their dog can be. Because of him, I believe every dog deserves to feel that same unconditional love, patience, safety, and kindness. When caring for your pet, I want them to feel comfortable, secure, and cared for just like they would at home. I’m attentive to their individual personalities and needs, whether they’re energetic and playful, shy and cautious, or simply looking for some extra companionship and cuddles. Your pet is more than just a pet—they’re family. I’d be honored to give them the love, attention, and care they deserve while you’re away. 🐶❤️ My Availability 🐾 I work full-time during the week, so my availability is primarily in the evenings. I’m generally available after 5 PM for evening walks, drop-ins, and check-ins. On weekends, I have much more flexibility and am available throughout the day for walks, check-ins, and boarding. I’m happy to work with you to find a schedule that works best for you and your pet! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Since I provide care in your home, I make sure to follow your instructions closely and keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. I’m responsible, attentive, and always aware of my surroundings when caring for pets. During walks and outings, I pay close attention to traffic, other animals, and anything that could potentially put your pet at risk. I also understand that I’m being trusted with both your beloved pet and your home. I treat every home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine, and I’m mindful about keeping doors, gates, and other entry points secure. My goal is for you to feel confident knowing your pet is safe, cared for, and in good hands while you’re away. ❤️

About: Hi! I’m Charlotte, an active-duty U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Shafter. I grew up with dogs throughout my childhood and have had several family dogs over the years, so I’m comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities and energy levels. I’m dependable, responsible, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Whether your dog needs a walk, playtime, fresh water, or just some extra attention while you’re away, I’ll treat them with the same care and kindness I’d want for my own pets. I’ll always communicate clearly, arrive on time, and send updates with photos so you know your pet is in good hands. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! My Army work schedule keeps me busy during the day, but I’m available for pet care every weekday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. On weekends, I’m available continuously from 5:00 PM on Friday until 5:00 AM on Monday, making me available for weekend house sitting, overnight care, walks, and drop-in visits. I’m committed to providing dependable, attentive care and will keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. During every visit, I’ll send updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is being well cared for while you’re away. I’ll always respect your home and treat your pet like one of my own. Because I live in the barracks, I currently provide dog walking and drop-in visits at your home rather than boarding pets.
About: I’ve been helping take care of friends’ and neighbors’ dogs for years. For the past 6 years, I have also had a labradoodle of my own. Taking care of him has provided me with a lot of learning opportunities. As a result, I am great with puppies, training, administering medicine, and anything else your dog might need! I have a part time job, but I only work three hours a day from 5 am-8 am, and not at all on weekends. Other than that, I am completely free. In September I will begin University classes but they are interspersed throughout the day, leaving me fully able to walk, feed, and play with your dog multiple times a day, all throughout the day! I have a fenced in yard and a six year old labradoodle who loves having friends! My family is also around, providing additional playmates & extra love!
“Colleen was an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. She was incredibly flexible with our schedule and consistently attentive, patient, and loving toward our pups. She truly went above and beyond by taking them on hikes, giving them plenty of walks, and making sure all of their individual needs were met so they stayed happy, comfortable, and well cared for. Her attention to detail really stood out, especially since she gave one of our dogs medication and made sure it was administered correctly. What also meant so much to us was her communication. Colleen provided daily check-ins and updates, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away from home. It was clear how much she genuinely cared about our dogs, and we felt completely confident knowing they were in such great hands. We would absolutely recommend Colleen to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and dedicated dog sitter, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!”

Rochelle did an amazing job taking care of Koa while I was away. She was very communicative throughout my time away and consistently provided updates and pictures of my fur baby, which really put my mind at ease knowing he was in such great hands. She took great care of Koa and made sure he was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I would highly recommend Rochelle to anyone looking for a trustworthy and very caring dogsitter😊

Renee did a great job house sitting while we went on a weekend trip to a neighbor island. She was attentive and communicated quickly and efficiently. Hoku and Peaches seemed to do very well with her. My home was left in excellent/tidy condition which is very important to me. Much Mahalo!

Josephine is the absolute best house/pet sitter! Our two dogs love spending time with her while we are away. It gives us a great piece of mind knowing they are well cared for while we are traveling. Would highly recommend Tia gone looking for someone that not only takes fantastic care of pets but leaves the house spotless.

We had such a wonderful experience with Shalyn! She took amazing care of our two dogs and our cat while we were traveling off island, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. One of our dogs is very anxious around new people and can sometimes be reactive toward both people and other dogs, so we were a little nervous about leaving him. From the initial meet and greet, though, Shalyn was patient, calm, and wonderful with him. He warmed up to her right away, which is incredibly rare and gave us so much peace of mind. Throughout our trip, Shalyn was incredibly communicative and sent us lots of photos and videos, which we always looked forward to. It was obvious from all the updates how comfortable our pets were with her. Seeing how much the dogs played with her, sought her out, and interacted with her made it clear they genuinely enjoyed having her there. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pets, and we’re so grateful for the excellent care she provided. We look forward to booking Shalyn again for future sittings and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative pet sitter!

Andrés is the best sitter, hands down! While I've had Andrés housesit before, it was only for a night, but this time, he housesat for 5 nights. Pawson is so comfortable with Andrés because he takes such good care of him. Andrés followed all instructions to a tee, and he left things tidy. Andrés was communicative throughout my trip, sending updates regularly. Best of all, Andrés made sure that my Pawson was comfortable and active, relieving his stress. I'm so grateful for Andrés, and Pawson will definitely be seeing him regularly! Mahalo, Andrés!

Hannah and Ian were fabulous with my lil Hela while I was away for 3 days. They were very open minded and helpful from the very beginning. I highly recommend them to take care of anyone's pet. They made sure Hela was well fed and cared for and even sent me pics along the way. Thanks Hannah & Ian!

Sofiya did a long stretch of house and cat sitting for me. She is clearly a warm hearted animal lover. I appreciated her willingness to take on the care of my cat in declining health. She went out of her way to care for him and to keep me updated. The house was kept neat and clean. I would hire her again without any hesitation.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Shafter walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Shafter maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Shafter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
