“Merelee was extremely accommodating on a last minute booking. Walter had no trouble getting acclimated and making a new friend. We will definitely reach out to her for a re-booking when in the area!”

“He took such great care of my little pup! When I picked up my dog after his first 4 day stay with Doug, he was happy and settled (he is a sensitive dog! So I know if hasn’t been well with someone). I’m so grateful, Doug was wonderful!”

“They were outstanding taking care of our fur baby. It was a last minute trip and they were very understanding with our time frame for leaving and coming home. First time they watched Princess and she clearly enjoyed her time with them. Chris made sure to send pictures throughout the day and kept me posted on how she was doing. I never had to reach out for an update. They were always keeping me informed on how she was doing Top notch care and I highly recommend them!”

“We love Jordyn! She’s kept our dogs a few times. She is so accommodating, and our girls LOVE her. They get so excited when they see her. It’s the best feeling knowing they’re having as much as we do when we go out of town!”

“Brittney was the answer to all our problems! Our puppy, Rosie, needed last-minute surgery to remove a tumor on her leg right before we left on a trip we couldn't cancel. Since we couldn't board her in a place that couldn't keep careful watch over her at all times, we turned to Rover and found Brittney. Brittney made sure Rosie did not bother her surgery bandage and kept her around dogs with calmer temperaments (Rosie LOVES other dogs and needed to be around dogs that wouldn't get her too riled up and potentially bother her surgery wound). She also took care to ensure Rosie was in her post-surgery cone so she couldn't get to her wound overnight or when they needed to leave the house. She was a pro at giving Rosie her antibiotics and also went above and beyond by taking her to the vet when her bandage slipped off so she could get patched up with a new one. We couldn't have asked for better care for our Rosie while we were away. It wasn't a situation we wanted to be in, but Brittney made it all manageable and we were able to enjoy our trip with no worries over Rosie being taken care of. I should also mention that Rosie is a rescue and is scared of most people she meets. But she seemed to take to Brittney and her husband very quickly after we left, and if that's not a true endorsement, I don't know what is!”

“Jonathan and family provided a home away from home for our doggo. It was a long trip for us—6 days—and I was worried about our pup. But he thrived! It was such a great relief for me. I’m so grateful!”
“Charlie took great care of my two senior dogs! She and her girls kept them busy and comfortable. She sent picture updates regularly and was very flexible with my scheduling needs.”

“If I could leave 10 out of 5 stars I would! Amanda was wonderful and we could not have asked for a better experience. Besides being kind, gentle, and thoughtful, she was very caring and gave our dog lots of attention. We had multiple pictures and videos, which were so nice. She took Oliver on walks every day, not down the street, but to a park every day. She also fed him home cooked chicken (with my approval) to try to get him to eat (picky eater!). I know Oliver had a great time and it was so nice not worrying about our little boy! We will definitely use her again! Thank you Amanda!”

“Monica and Mitchell were great sitters for our 3 year old dog, Sawyer, who is very attached to our family and a bit nervous in nature. They were confident and warm from the very beginning and helped Sawyer transition to their care. They offered regular updates and photos while he was with them. We were completely pleased with the experience!”

“Wade & Morgan were fantastic hosts for our dog Boone over Memorial Day Weekend. Boone had a ball playing with their dog Atlas for 3 days. Wade and Morgan sent pictures and provided updates everyday. Would highly recommend!”

“Kaitlyn is one of the best sitters on Rover! She is so kind and accommodating. She let me know what was going on with my dog, and I had no concerns about Chloe’s safety. She even sent us home with a little gift. I highly recommend using Kaitlyn for all pet sitting needs 🖤”

“Thank you Ashley! Ashley was very nice and took good care of my dog. She sent pictures and updates every day. She took her walking and played with her. She treated my baby like she was one of her own. I will definitely be using Ashley again soon.”

“Alyssa was so good with our old girl! She has some trouble with stairs since she's an older girl but Alyssa moved her crate location so she could avoid the stairs. She also has some anxiety but it seems like Alyssa did a great job at helping her feel calm and relaxed in her new location. We will definitely be using her again when we next go out of town!”

“I was so worried leaving my baby with someone new, but Rebecca made my dog’s stay very enjoyable for both of us! Juno had so much fun playing with Monkey in her big backyard and seemed to really feel at home with Rebecca. Rebecca was very responsive to my check-ins and sent me multiple pictures and videos everyday. I know Juno can’t wait to go back!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Irondale
Ashley is wonderful! She is incredibly attentive, caring, and thoughtful with our dogs, Peaches and Max. It’s clear how much she genuinely cares about their comfort and well-being, and we always feel completely at ease knowing they’re in her care. She’s also extremely easy to communicate and coordinate with, which makes the entire experience stress-free. We feel very lucky to have found someone we trust so much with our dogs and would absolutely recommend Ashley to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

This was Louie’s first “sleep over” and Amy and her family made sure it was a resounding success. It will now become his home away from home when we must travel. We were sent pictures and updates and all of our concerns were met without a hitch. Thanks so very much, Amy, for making this first experience a good one!

Jody was absolutely amazing with our pup! She was a great communicator sending consistent photos during her stay. And I could tell our pup was having a wonderful stay which gave such a peace of mind while we were away. Cannot say enough great things! Rosie is ready for her next stay!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
