I could not have asked for a better person to watch my Millie girl! Millie is very shy and timid until she trusts someone and Sarah was so sweet and patient with her. Millie had so much fun with Sarah and I received updates several times a day along with photos and videos! Sarah is quite literally the BEST!!!

Robin came prepared at our meet and greet and was great with our three dogs. We were gone with limited internet access and both felt that our pups were well cared for. She sent frequent photos that showed us that everyone was happy at home. Our house was cleaner than we left it upon returning. We will use her again!

About: I provide pet-sitting in your own home, and can also do dog walking. Pet-sitting can include bathing and light grooming. I am comfortable with all ages and breeds of dogs, and have experience with a full range of each. I am experienced with many types of behaviors within dogs, and can offer basic training as needed. I have a passion for animals! I have grown up with many different types animals; dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish, and lizards. I’ve also have had lots of experience with farm animals such as horses, goats, pigs, chickens, and ducks. I have been professionally pet-sitting since I was a teenager, and have been on Rover for the last 5+ years. I love all of the sweet pets I’ve been able to work with! My current availability is mornings and evenings M-F, and all day weekends. My schedule does get filled quickly, but if given enough notice I should have flexibility! I work full-time, but I still have times during the week that I devote to my pets and yours. I make sure that each animal tended gets adequate exercise, attention, and even training as needed. I currently don’t offer in-house boarding at this time, but I often do house visits and dog walking. I have lots of experience and devote a lot of time ensuring that each person I work with is comfortable and feels safe with me in their home and/or with their pets. I have a set system that also ensures the safety of information such as addresses, keys, etc. so that it will never become a concern. I also take LOTS of photos and videos each time I visit, so that each client I work with can guarantee I do everything correctly and am being as safe as I can with their fur-babies:)

About: I used to dog sit in my teens for a aldy with about seventeen small dogs. My mother own many cats and dogs as well During weekdays I work at a catering company, with the latest I've worked being just four pm,and I'm usually off weekends and can care for your adorable pets anytime on weekends or anytime after four pm on weekdays I've learned dogs and cats need slow gentle words and actions when introducing oneself to them, then when they warm up to you,it makes it easier to care for them. A comfortable pet is a happy pet

About: From the age of 12, I've been taking care of pets. My passion for providing pets with the utmost care and attention has grown over the years. Through my experience, I have not only developed a strong sense of compassion for all animals, but I have also developed the ability to handle any situation. I have a trio of furry friends, but what sets them apart is that I've taken it upon myself to raise, train, and deliver two of them. The third one was a gift, but they've all become an integral part of my life. Rest assured that your beloved pet will be treated with the same love and care that I give to my furry friends. You can trust me to provide your pet with the attention and affection they deserve. As an independent worker, I have the flexibility to be there for you and your furry friends whenever you need me. Count on me to provide reliable and attentive care for your pets. As such, please book accordingly so that I may be able to give your babies the attention and care they deserve. At the moment, I don't provide in-home pet services. However, I'm committed to adhering to all safety guidelines to guarantee your furry friend's well-being and an enjoyable experience.

Erika stayed with our 2 pups for a week while we were out of the country. She was so great about sending pictures and updates about the dogs. There was some big rain storms while we were gone and had an area of the house flooded, Erika kept us updated about the house and made sure the area that flooded got cleaned up. Knowing she was watching the dogs and the house allowed us to enjoy our trip

Even though every dog is different, I am able to provide adequate care and attention to every fur baby that I have the privilege of looking after. I am currently a student and have plenty of down time when I am not at school. This includes Fridays and Weekends and I can be pretty flexible with time! Courtney is wonderful! My cat didn't miss me because Courtney took such good care of her. This meant a lot to me because it was one of the first times I left my cat in someone else's care. I would not hesitate to use Courtney again! Courtney is a caring, conscientious animal sitter. She clearly loves animals. She also left everything spotless! I highly recommend Courtney if you want an animal sitter you can count on to follow your instructions and is dependable, diligent and caring.

About: Hi there! I’m Abby, and I’ve had years of experience caring for both dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities. Whether it’s energetic pups, senior pets, or shy kitties, I love giving animals the love and attention they deserve. I treat every pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away! I’m available weekdays after 5 PM and all day on weekends. Whether your pet needs an evening walk, dinner-time check-in, or weekend company, I’ve got you covered! I have two sweet cats of my own at home, so I don’t host pets—but I’m more than happy to drop in or care for your pets in the comfort of their own home! I know how important it is for animals to stay in a familiar space, and I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well taken care of while you’re away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Irondale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Irondale on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 585 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Irondale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Irondale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Irondale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Irondale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Irondale. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
