“Westyn went above and beyond to take care of our puppy! He sent us pictures and videos everyday and made sure to communicate with us. We had to do a later pick up than expected and he was super flexible with us. We will definitely be using Westyn next time we need a sitter for our Winnie!”

“Shelby was amazing!! She took amazing care of our golden retriever and we never stressed or worried about her the entire time she was there. She actually brought Rory to our wedding for pictures which meant so much to us. She truly went above and beyond!”

“Lauren is amazing! She went above and beyond to make sure our spoiled pet was loved, snuggled, and cared for while we were away. She sent a ton of photos and updates. We will 100% recommend her and ask her to sit for us again in the future.”

“Chyna was absolutely amazing with our babies, Hampton and Willow! She cared for them overnight and gave us such peace of mind while we were away. She was attentive, loving, and made sure both dogs were comfortable and well cared for. It’s clear that she genuinely loves animals and treats them like her own. Hampton and Willow were happy and relaxed when we returned, which says everything. We are so grateful for Chyna and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable pet sitter!”

“Barrie is simply awesome. She kept my pup for 2 weeks. She kept me informed everyday. I could tell from Oso’s interaction with her that he had made a friend. I love the interaction he had with other dogs during his stay. I highly recommend Barrie and would use her again with no hesitation.”

“Libby was so wonderful. Our dog is so timid with everyone and I love how much care and attention she was given. I also loved the pictures and updates. My family will be using her again.”

“Corlaeja really came through for me and Billy. It was a very last minute booking, and she was not only able to do it, she did it exceptionally well. My boy—who is a brat—looked happy and healthy in every photograph she sent (and she sent regular photographs). And, of course, he came back to me the same way I left him. I will definitely look to rebook with her the next time there is an opportunity. Thanks again!”

About: I grew up with dogs in my home for my entire life. I am well-versed in how to properly love and take care of them. I’ve also had previous experience in dog sitting for people I know. I’m currently a sophomore in college and my class schedules change every 8 weeks. I’m available for boarding, sitting, dog walking and drop ins, any day of the week. However due to my class schedules, the hours for which I am available for drop-ins and walks can vary. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about scheduling! I have a fenced yard with mediocre space, a fenced in porch, and a spacious basement; so your pup can have free roam whether they are indoors or outdoors! When it comes to taking care of your pup in the comfort of their home, I make sure they stay safe, healthy, and have fun! I also ensure they stick with their normal routines whether in my home or yours.
“Our puppy had the best stay with Katie!!!! She was welcomed with a very excited embrace by Katie's sweet daughter, and every day we received great updates from Katie (and adorable photos) on how Ellie was doing! We will definitely have Ellie stay with Katie again the next time we are out of town! Thank you again - such a great experience!!!”

About: I honestly enjoy dogs and cats more than most people, sorry not sorry 😆. There’s just something about the trusting love of an animal that brings joy to life/my world. I’ve been a dog owner for over 15 years, first to my sweet Charlie - no longer with us; and now to our foster fail Maya. Charlie was a border collie who never ran out of energy. Like, ever 😆. Maya is a more settled gal, but she still loves a good walk/hike as long as a nap comes afterwards. I’ve also been a cat mom, and cat foster mom for over 20 years. Our Sophie & Evie keep us on our toes requesting frequent snuggles, play time, treats, and nap time in our laps 💜🐾 If it’s not already evident, I firmly believe: pets are family, and pets have rights to autonomy/boundaries with people and other animals. I fully expect pet owners to have the same standards of care for selecting someone to help with their pet as I believe they’d use to choose a babysitter for their human kiddos. I happily respect and help maintain people’s rules for their pets (but all y’all that say they can’t get on the couch need an intervention 🙃😉 I’m just saying). Let’s chat about how to help your pets live their best lives when you can’t be with them - whether that’s walks, stop in visits, boarding in my home or other care needs. I work from home and have a fair amount of flexibility in my schedule. I’m able to do drop in visits to feed, administer meds, let dogs out, attend to cat boxes etc. and during my visits I will also provide a bit of attention and interaction for your pets if they desire it - I’m not just a run in and run back out sitter ☺️ I provide in home boarding and doggy day care at my home, where they have access to our fully fenced backyard for potty visits and playtime (weather safety dependent). I will probably only offer cat care visits to your home, as I have our 2 girls here full time as well as often having a foster kitten/cat or 2. I will be happy to cater a care plan that best suits your requirements and your cat’s needs.

“They took great care of my Aussiedoodle. He looked so happy in every photo. She sent plenty of photos and him and each photo had a little blurb of how he was doing. It was very cute! I would totally trust them again with him. It makes it more enjoyable for him that they have their own dogs as well. I know he enjoyed playing with them.”

About: Hey! I'm a medical student from Alabama located in Homewood. New to Rover, but I grew up with over ten cats and dogs and have owned my Jack Chi, Benoit, for three years, so I'm experienced with caring for animals of all breeds and sizes! My schedule varies depending on the week, but I am generally very flexible. I can do walks, drop-in visits, and boarding! I'm a full-time student and every week looks a little different! Generally very flexible and can accommodate most schedules. Just let me know what works best for you! Let me know your dog's daily routine and needs and I'll make sure they feel right at home with me! You'll get lots of photos/videos and updates, as I know how hard it can be to trust a stranger with your dog.

“Jamiya kept our baby for a week and she was absolutely wonderful. We received consistent updates and pictures throughout the entire week. We definitely recommend her to anyone else who is looking. Thanks again!”

“Harold went so far above and beyond in keeping my 2 girls. They are in their senior years and have entered the high maintenance stage of life. He handled them with grace and kindness. He sent lots of pictures and they got lots of love while visiting him. The hey stayed for a super long trip too so he really did a great job!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hoover
Kristen was an absolute joy to work with and Lulu seems to have had a ball. Communication was quick, easy and always to the point. Pictures were sent showing a very, very happy dog and so I am a very, very happy mama. I will definitely be calling on her again and am pleased to recommend her.

Madelynn was so great! I ended up needing a pet sitter very last minute and she not only replied to my initial message immediately, but she agreed to let me drop my fur baby off within about an hour! Not only was she super accommodating with such a last minute situation but she was just so nice and sweet. She sent me pics and updates and my dog just loved her. I could just tell from the little videos of they snuggling and playing :) She was just so great and I’m so glad we found her through Rover. Thank you Madelynn! 💕

Kendall was so attentive to Rosie! Rosie is a rescue who is afraid of the world around her, but Kendall took great care of her and never gave up when Rosie was unsure of her new surroundings, making her as comfortable as possible. I’m so appreciative of how sweet she was with Rosie and how she navigated her challenges, including trying to make sure our non-food-motivated dog ate regularly while we were gone. I would definitely book with Kendall again!

Abigail is amazing! She took such great care of my dog and treated him as if he were her pet. She was very responsive and communicative, sharing photos and updates while I was away. She is so kind, and it’s no wonder my dog was sad to leave when I picked him up! I can’t say enough good things about Abigail, and how comfortable I felt knowing my pet was in great hands.

I am very happy that I chose Noelle to take care of my boy Jared. Very nice and friendly person. I am sure Jared felt at home and at ease in their house. Clean environment and safe and quite neighborhood. Will definitely ise Noelle’s service the next time we need it. Highly recommended.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
