About: I have valuable pet care experience from living in a condo with a housemate who had two cats. On weekends when he was away, I took on the responsibility of caring for them. This included weighing their food, cleaning their litter box, and refreshing their water daily. I also administered medication to one cat with hyperthyroidism, ensuring she received the proper care she needed. Additionally, I’ve housesat for a friend, where I fed their dogs according to strict diet plans. This role required me to wake up at 6 AM to ensure they were fed on schedule. Through these experiences, I developed strong pet care skills and a deep appreciation for the well-being of animals. I’ve always wanted a dog, but coming from a traditional Chinese family, my parents have always said no. By taking care of others' pets, I aim to earn money to pay off grad school and work toward my dream of adopting a dog one day. My flexible work hours allow me to choose my schedule around pet care, with the exception of a few required meetings throughout the week. This flexibility makes it easy for me to dedicate time for walks, playtime, and overall care, ensuring that the pet feels loved and engaged. After a long day at work, I find great joy in taking walks allowing me to unwind and enjoy the fresh air. Caring for pets in a client’s home involves following their established routines, including feeding, walking, and playtime. I ensure pets receive their meals on schedule and get plenty of exercise. I also maintain hygiene by cleaning litter boxes and refreshing water, while administering any necessary medications. Safety is a priority, so I keep the home secure and monitor for hazards. Additionally, I provide affection and companionship to ease any anxiety the pets may feel. Regular check-ins with the owner keep them updated on their pets’ well-being, ensuring peace of mind while they’re away.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Garden Grove
It was very reassuring leaving Luka with Mai as I could immediately tell she was very attentive to Luka’s needs and sent plenty of updates. She let me know when Luka was on walks, going potty, eating, and how he was getting along with any other dogs. Thanks Mai!

I was worried about leaving my dog with someone else because he has been with me every day for the past three years. I started a new job and he’s not allowed to go with me to work anymore so even though I was worried, they took really good care of Redd. I messaged them last second and was requesting a 4 AM drop off and they said the timing was not an issue which was really cool and I’m very grateful. They sent me photos and updates and took a lot of weight off my shoulders. I ended up asking them to watch my boy tomorrow and they said absolutely.

Alvaro was great with my pomeranian pup. I truly appreciated the photo updates, and my pup looked like he was enjoying his time. Communication was good from start to finish, which provided significant peace of mind. It is very reassuring to know I can trust someone with my precious pup and be confident he is well cared for. He was clearly happy with Alvaro, and I will definitely be booking with him again.

Lisa is great! We dropped our dog off while spending the day at Disney and she was very accommodating with our plans. Our dog usually takes awhile to warm up to new people, but Lisa sent lots of photos and videos and it seems she warmed up to her very quickly and enjoyed her home! She followed our dog’s feeding and medication schedule, and generally provided care that put us at ease. Thanks, Lisa!

Thank you, Kristi! You ARE the best PET sitter indeed! We love your lil furboo Penny too. 🐶 Simba & I are missing her already! We appreciate your sweet demeanor & true flexibility for folks going to Disneyland. Here's a little something extra for you online. 😊 We will definitely look you up next time we're in town to take care of our family furboo, Simba! Thanks again!!

Jenny was great with our two cattle dogs! She made us feel comfortable that she would take good care of them. She is super flexible and easy to work with. Sent us pictures through out the night. We plan on using her services again soon and would highly recommended her!

First time leaving our pup with a sitter and they were great! Maxx often has a hard time eating when he’s on vacation, so they even tried to hand feed him like I requested -wow 🤩. Lots of walks and play time by video. They even allowed us to pick up late when we were delayed at Disneyland (Saturday means longer lines than ever). Thank you for helping Maxxee feel at home!

Our pups had the pleasure of being cared for by Elizabeth and her sweet mom. We did doggy day care for 2 days. We did an initial visit on video and Elizabeth showed us the set-up. Perfectly equipped with open space, outdoor area for the doggies to roam, and bedding for their comfort. Our boys enjoyed having little friends and being walked and came back to us happy and tired at the end of the days. Elizabeth was super communicative and friendly and just great overall. Thank you guys so much!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
