About: I grew up with a cat, but always loving on other people’s dogs. I have watched or walked over 50 different dog-friends since high school with several clients in VT before I moved back to Maine in 2022. I had a dog in my household, but she and her owner moved, and I miss the daily interactions. What am I all about? I am seeking more local dog-friends who need walks, backyard romps, and a few more overnight clients. I am mindful of your dog’s needs, schedule, and any skills they have or are working on. I primarily have done extended stays, 1-hour adventure hikes, or close-to-home walks with my most active and repeat dog friends. If we are going to do an extended stay at your home, I prefer to meet you and your dog first to make sure it’s a good fit. Tell me more... I am very attentive to your dog’s body language and that of other dogs and know when I need to redirect attention. I really love working with active breeds who thrive on adventure hikes, swims and agility games. I am open to helping your dog learn new skills and tricks as well during our time together. I also have a soft spot and understanding of the needs of senior dogs, having cared for many from puppy to their golden years. Your Dog(s) & Me: I am versed at working with dogs that are well-trained on-leash (or who are working on it), responsive when off-leash, and have some form of positive dog/people greeting skills down. I would LOVE it if your dog is well-trained on leash and off- this makes interactions in places where other dogs go much more pleasant. However, I can adapt as long as we discuss options that are known to be successful. I have experience using training collars with dogs whose person has trained with them for off-leash adventures. I can incorporate long-lead playtime and off leash time as well. For dogs that are mildly/moderately leash-reactive and in-training, I have adapted our walks to accommodate their needs to the best of my abilities depending on the location. However, if your dog is very leash reactive, unless you have a reliable safe space for them to be, I may not be your person. I am comfortable and have given dogs and cats medicine, including insulin injections. I have experience with dogs who have seizures. I hope to take a pet CPR course this year (2025). Do you have a farm/stead too? I also have experience feeding and caring for chickens, pigs, goats, and horses. If you need that kind of care as well, please let me know. I prefer to go to your home. If I'm caring for a dog at your home, I like to meet first and have you show me their routine. I like to build trust so they recognize me when I arrive for the first time. I want them to be comfortable and at ease with me, so we both have the best time together. Whether at your home or mine, I try to stick to their schedule and during my work day, take play breaks and get them outside to stretch their legs and get out some energy. Depending on the dog, I may be able to host one dog in my small apartment. If I had to leave for a few hours, I prefer they are crate trained and that you can provide their crate. The dog would need to be able to go up 3 flights of stairs, or be small enough for me to pick up. I have a fenced back yard we could utilize as long as I coordinate with my downstairs neighbor (2 dogs). I’m also very close to Baxter Woods and quiet neighborhood walks.

About: I grew up in a dog-loving family, having several throughout my childhood. After I graduated college, I started volunteering as a dog foster parent with a local animal shelter. Through this, I gained experience raising and caring for dogs of many different ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments for short to extended periods of time until they found their furever home. From little Jack Russel terriers, pointers, labs, and pitties, to 8 week old puppies, teenager puppies, and senior pups, I’ve seen it all. I currently have 3 dogs that I love and cherish: a beagle mix, a rat terrier mix, and a dachshund/doberman mix! I’m a part-time student getting my PhD in clinical psychology. At this point in my schooling, I have a very flexible schedule. I am fairly free throughout the week, except for a few mornings from 8-12pm, so depending on your needs, I’m sure we can work something out! Depending on your home situation, I am happy to do whatever needs to be done. Whether that’s letting them out back into a fenced in yard, or taking them on a leashed walk, or crating them, I’m flexible for whatever needs to be done!

“Karli was amazing with my dog and two cats! She gave them so much love and exercise and made me feel 100x better knowing they had her there for visits while I was out of town. So thankful!”

“Harrison is great with our pup Lola. He walks her every week and has house sat for us on several occasions. We've always come back to a clean house and happy dog. Harrison great with communication and keeps us updated with photos and short texts. We and our pup are very happy to have met Harrison!”

About: I have been an animal owner and lover since I was a small child with my first pet parrot, then cats & dogs, and have been around and cared for all different breeds. I currently have one baby boy named Ham (Apollo is his legal name though). Who i’ve had since he was a puppy and now is almost an old man at 8 years old. My family and friends have frequently relied on me to care for their babies multiple times over the years for various lengths of time and it’s still something I do whenever possible. Whether it’s a hyper young puppy that needs lots of attention and activity or a not-so-mobile senior, I can make sure they get the attention and love needed throughout their day. Will always reward good boys & girls with treats and scratches. I’m currently here in Portland for the summer and have all the free time I could possibly want. My schedule may fluctuate in the future, but I am available every day of the week unless otherwise stated. In my own current apartment, my own dog (Ham) is the only animal here, and we although there is a small area to go outside, we prefer to go on walks. Whether it be short or a good distance to tire him out, I make sure when on walks to pet is the main focus, I don’t walk while staring at my phone. If I am allowed into your home all rules will be 100% respected and followed to a T.

“Brendan is the best! Our dog loves him. He is very reliable.”

“Viva continues to be fantastic with our little pup, Maple! She is patient and continues training throughout her walks. Viva coming over is Maple’s favorite time of the week!”

About: I will treat your pets with respect and love with an emphasis on safety. I grew up with golden retrievers that I helped care for, and was the neighborhood dogsitter/babysitter as a teenager. As an adult I’ve owned both a senior cat with medical needs and now am a proud parent to a beagle-mix. I want owners to be at ease when their pets are in my care so I focus on clear communication with you and maintaining routines for your pets. I am not working this summer before starting grad school, so I can find plenty of time to spend with your pet! I keep my schedule as current as possible, so feel free to reach out. I’m able to take your dog for a walk wherever their favorite route is! I will be conscientious and respectful of your home, yard, and neighborhood always cleaning up after myself and the pet.

“Josh is an excellent dog sitter and trust worthy. He was punctual and comunicated constantly with us during the day. Dopey loved spending an afternoon with him and his multiple walks with Josh.”

About: I grew up with cats and dogs as pets and have helped take care of pets for friends and family! I am flexible and friendly and love to have company while going for walks. I am an educator that has a flexible summer schedule! I am open to morning or afternoon walks or pop ins and available to housesit as well. I have experience housesitting for friends and I am respectful of their space and the needs of the animals. I am happy follow directions left for the pet.

About: I have grown up with animals and took on an active responsibility for them by age 10. I have experience with dogs, cats, birds and horses even the occasional snake and love them all equally. My dog experience if everything from a Chihuahua to a Great Pyrenees (though if you were to ask me my German Shepard’s always held a special place in me heart). Currently I have a rescue from the shelter and spend a lot of my time with her for training and building her confidence. I currently work and attend graduate school. I am available all day on weekends and after 5pm all week days except for Wednesdays as I will be attending classes. I always strive to meet the needs of the area I have experience with many diets and also enjoy taking my pups and any other pup in my care for long walks or for a good romp in the dog park to burn all their energy.

I specialize in weekend and long-term overnight stays. I work full time with flexible work days. My best days for petsitting are Mondays, Fridays, and weekends. 17. Bryanna W.
“Brie is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working with dogs. Currently owning a dog alongside her and having witnessed her interactions with her family pets, I can vouch that she is a wonderful owner and cares deeply about animals. She has experience with training working dogs, and I’ve seen her effectively utilize this knowledge when caring for my uncle’s dogs, whom are all trained with either bomb sniffing or drug sniffing, as he previously handled dogs for security and military/law enforcement purposes. She was able to work with them as efficiently as anyone i’ve seen besides him. She also has assisted neighbors in caring for their dogs on multiple occasions, and she has shown to be able to quickly build trust with dogs with her knowledge of animal behavior and natural affinity toward caring for animals. She is also able to organize her time well and has shown excitement for getting to interact with more pets, which is great because when she gets into something, she becomes very efficient in the area of interest.”

I know that my cat’s best interests, personality, and health are being looked after as if it were myself - and my cat is receiving the fun, affection and genuine care from someone who cares about and respects animals. Wholly recommend her as a trusted sitter for pets.”
