Safety, trust & environment

I am respectful of your space and will happily care for your dog while asserting the boundaries and expectations that you typically set and hold regularly. I’ll return dog items where I found them, wipe off paws if muddy or wet, (or if that’s your thing each time, I got you), and make sure water bowls are full.

Information Jack K. would like to know about your pet

Is your pup reactive? For example, do they react to other dogs on a walk? Squirrels? Bikes? Runners? Please share any known triggers and I’ll do my best to mirror how you work with your dog to manage those, whether it’s counter-conditioning, or avoiding with a quick turn and back track or crossing the street. When I care for other dogs on leash, I typically follow a strict no on leash greetings with other dogs and people, we keep a nice ten foot bubble. And when I arrive, how will your pup greet me? Will they bark when I enter but then greet with a tail wag? Will then most likely be upstairs sleeping and I’ll need to call for them and shake a treat bag or jingle keys? Let me know—please don’t worry about giving too much info, I want your pup to have a good time and have their needs met fully and safely. 🐾🐾🐾

A typical day

We can check out a trail, walk the sidewalks, head to the beach. I’m a runner and would be happy to jog with your pup—I have a running waist leash with a safety traffic handle, and as long as your dog has a harness that fits comfortable and securely, I’d be happy to jog/run with them to burn some energy!

Pet care experience

Feel free to book short notice, if I’m avail then I’m game! High-energy levels welcome! I have a heeler and a mini aussie mix, so I’m well-versed in high-energy and high-drive. Happy to play brain games or go for a jog-let’s burn some energy, happy to bring my jogging leash if your pup has a well fitting harness to run in. What about lower-energy pups? Of course, all energy levels are welcome! Happy to honor your dogs nose and allow them to lead the way at their own pace on a sniffari through their neighborhood or leashed on trail or beach—nose work is the best for a tired, happy, healthy dog! Looking for off-leash adventures? I’m happy to meet and learn more about you and your dogs existing expectations and boundaries re safety, recall, communication, and the tools and reward system you use—I am open to discussing off-leash adventures at Hinckley, Willard, and beyond, if it’s a good fit for all! And I have experience using e-collars (Dogtra and mini-educator brand) as a tool to support your pup and I’m open to reinforcing your conditioned training—I know first hand the commitment of time and energy to this relationship with pup, human, and tool—as long as it’s used safely, ethically, and in support/complementary of hand signals and/or verbal communication you use with your pup. What about dogs who are or can be reactive? I have experience walking reactive dogs and am confident and comfortable respecting your and your dog’s needs. For example, I totally understand if you have two dogs and they need to be walked separately. And if you have a leash-reactive pup, I’m confident navigating busy sidewalks, avoiding dog and people contact (if needed), and am comfortable walking with flat collars, martingales, gentle leaders, harnesses, and basket muzzles, as needed (and if fitted properly and used safely). Please be sure to share all of your pups known triggers (for example: bikes, kids, cars, people, small dogs), so I can be sure to meet their needs. Can’t wait to connect!

Jack is kind, caring and was great with Tilly. They are very flexible as we had to change plans at the last minute. This was much appreciated. I feel Tilly is in good hands with Jack and will definitely have them take care of Tilly in the future. Highly recommend.
