About: Animals have always been an important part of my life. I grew up with a cat who was much more than a pet—because I didn’t have any brothers or sisters, she was my best friend and constant companion. Later, after meeting my husband, who had a dog, I discovered how much joy dogs bring and how different, fun, and rewarding it is to spend time with them. Now that my own children are older and more independent, I finally have some time to do something I’ve wanted for a while: care for other people’s dogs. Spending time with animals truly makes me happy, and I would love to give your dog the same love, attention, and care that I would give my own. I’ve looked after dogs in my home and understand that every pet is unique. Some dogs love long walks and playtime, while others just want a quiet companion nearby. About: I grew up dogs from the time I was little- labs, retrievers, shepherds- and had a special needs rescue dog with my partner for many years who lived to be fifteen. When she passed, my partner and I started boarding and house sitting regularly and have built up a pretty cute little pack. I am comfortable giving oral medication and upholding your dog’s schedule, house rules, and love to take field trips whenever possible. My favorite is when a dog can come with me everywhere, so smaller senior pups have become my specialty, but I can’t help but love all the dogs who come along. As a videographer and Maine youth basketball coach I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule and spend a lot of time working from home editing videos. About: I raised, trained, and cared for my family dog from a puppy when I was in high school. Post college I adopted a senior dog and cared for him for the last couple of years of his life. In the meantime I have been a sitter for friends and family dogs and cats over the years. I am used to giving medications (even when it needs to be disguised) and staying on a feeding schedules. I am very up for caring for senior dogs who want to lay around the house, and equally ready to go on long walks with a dog with more energy. I work from home always, so will be around during the day for pups who like to hang! I'm on the East End of Portland with the Eastern Prom very close by so plenty of places to walk and explore. I am usually out and about in the evenings for a few hours at a time. On the weekends I like to be busy, but can certainly adjust my time when I have a dog or cat around. I have a large one bedroom, and am on the 3rd floor. So my place is likely not good for pets with mobility issues (unless they are small enough that I can carry them). I live very close to lots of nature easily accessible and make a point to get outside often.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of family and friends since I was in my teens, but more extensively in college and since. For 3 years I boarded and sat for three different family friends. I’ve personally helped raise 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’ve even helped herd sheep and tamed alpacas! I work nearly full-time as a server at a restaurant, so Wednesday to Saturday night I’m unavailable for somewhere between 6-9 hours on those days. When I have my off days I’m usually at home or out for a walk. I’m usually efficient with my errands and have extensive free time on off days. My apartment is a one bedroom, so if I’m not playing around the apartment with the pet, I’d want to bring them on a walk or to the park. I have a very comfortable bedroom conducive to nap time, and I live in the heart of Old Port. Whenever I am with pets in my house I am always looking to set up a cozy space for them to relax with blankets, pillows, their favorite toys. I try to make them feel like a proper guest in my home like anyone else. My apartment is always very quiet despite being downtown, but I would hope to find activities we could do in and around Portland to help keep them active and entertained.

About: I know the answer to both sides of that question; having gone years without a pet, and then falling in love with a rolly, romping little pug who my partner and I were blessed to have 16 1/2 years. When we lost him, our hearts were broken, (and still are), and our home less rowdy and happy. Super nice folks, with very calm demeanors. Our sweet new pup, Olive, can be timid around new people and dogs, and they were very mindful of that, and very understanding. Their two pups, Charlie and Emma, are lovely, happy goofballs! I currently work full time from home and am able to take breaks for walks/ drop ins. I am also typically available on weekends as well for walks and drop ins. I am happy to drop in and take care of your pet in your own home, or take your pup for walks! I live in a dog friendly apartment with my own cat but prefer to take care of your pets in your own space.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats of family and friends since I was in my teens, but more extensively in college and since. For 3 years I boarded and sat for three different family friends. I’ve personally helped raise 3 dogs and 2 cats. I’ve even helped herd sheep and tamed alpacas! I work nearly full-time as a server at a restaurant, so Wednesday to Saturday night I’m unavailable for somewhere between 6-9 hours on those days. When I have my off days I’m usually at home or out for a walk. I’m usually efficient with my errands and have extensive free time on off days. My apartment is a one bedroom, so if I’m not playing around the apartment with the pet, I’d want to bring them on a walk or to the park. I have a very comfortable bedroom conducive to nap time, and I live in the heart of Old Port. Whenever I am with pets in my house I am always looking to set up a cozy space for them to relax with blankets, pillows, their favorite toys. I try to make them feel like a proper guest in my home like anyone else. My apartment is always very quiet despite being downtown, but I would hope to find activities we could do in and around Portland to help keep them active and entertained.

About: I grew up dogs from the time I was little- labs, retrievers, shepherds- and had a special needs rescue dog with my partner for many years who lived to be fifteen. When she passed, my partner and I started boarding and house sitting regularly and have built up a pretty cute little pack. I am comfortable giving oral medication and upholding your dog’s schedule, house rules, and love to take field trips whenever possible. My favorite is when a dog can come with me everywhere, so smaller senior pups have become my specialty, but I can’t help but love all the dogs who come along. As a videographer and Maine youth basketball coach I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule and spend a lot of time working from home editing videos. I’m fairly active, always happy to take breaks from work to walk around the neighborhood or find a pet-friendly beach to run around on. I’m in an apartment very close to Deering Oaks Park and the Western Prom. The apartment is a compact second story walk up and has been carefully maintained to keep it safe for curious noses.

About: I’ve grown up in the outdoors and with a love of taking care of animals. I have always been relied on as someone who can be called on to help take care of a furry friend. While I can’t get a dog of my own right now, I love having animals around to spend time with and join me on my day to day experiences and outdoor adventures. Currently working hybrid remote from home that allows me lots of freedom in my schedule. Depending on the animal, I would move my work around their needs. I can offer frequent walks and check-ins. When working remotely, they will be with me at all times. When in office, there may be times that they will be alone for up to 4 hours. Depending on the animals/owners needs I can be flexible to training schedules if that is something they would like support with.

He has a backyard with a deck and when I arrived to pick her up, she greeted me but went back to her spot on the deck and would have been happy to stay, I think! James sent a photo and video when I texted to see how she was doing and that was reassuring. We have another weekend away scheduled in the next couple of months and plan to ask James to take care of her then, so I would recommend him highly. He has a super friendly dog and she was good company for Maya.”
