“In NEED of a dog walker while recovering from foot surgery, I found Alejandro here on Rover. I chose Alejandro after reading many walker profiles and one review stood out which ultimately helped me make the decision. Alejandro has been very easy to work with, I booked for reoccurring walks for the time I am incapacitated, he has a planned vacation in the middle of my needs. We worked out a schedule that would meet both of our needs. After a few days of being laid up, no one was helping with my pups morning walks. Asked Alejandro if he was available to do mornings and he could! What good luck?! Communication has been great, pup is panting and happy when he gets home, and the rate fits my budget. Thank you Alejandro! Enjoy your vacation and we will see you when you return!”

“Rose is fantastic with our dog. Kind, prompt, and compassionate. He’s not the most active guy and can be stubborn and Rose has embraced it all. We are so lucky to have found her.”

“Jesika was such a huge help, always showed up with a smile, my puppy was overjoyed to see her and she was very communicative through our time. Would definitely hire her again.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Trevor! From the very beginning, he went above and beyond to make my dogs feel comfortable with him. He showed incredible patience, especially with one of my pups who can be a little shy around new people. It was clear right away how great he is with animals — calm, attentive, and genuinely caring. He followed every single instruction, which gave me so much peace of mind. I could tell my dogs absolutely loved him — their tails were wagging nonstop when he arrived, and they came back from their walks happy and relaxed. It’s not always easy to find someone you fully trust with your pets and I’ll definitely be using his services again in the future. Highly, highly recommend!”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life since I was a little kid. Unfortunately, my current residence doesn’t allow me to have any of my own. I am an avid runner and mountain biker, and would love to help out local pet parents by tiring your pups out! I am a merchant marine, meaning I go out to sea to work for long periods of time. I am home for equally as long periods, with nothing but free time! I am very familiar with working with pets of all needs. I worked at a kennel for 4 years and cared for dogs and cats with all sorts of special medical requirements.
“Jennifer is fantastic!! She has been a huge help to us with walks for our new family member, Oreo. She is very knowledgeable about and comfortable with dogs, and super prompt and efficient. She takes awesome pet photos too!! 🐾 We are so happy to have found Jennifer on Rover.”
“Mae always takes such good care of Scarlet! I feel so comfortable and happy knowing that Scarlet is getting exercise and getting to be with someone so kind and reliable!”
“Katey has been so great with Enzo. She gained his trust almost immediately and, in all the pictures you can really tell he’s really at ease with him. She’s also a great communicator and responds promptly. I only wish I’d found her sooner!”

“Viva continues to be fantastic with our little pup, Maple! She is patient and continues training throughout her walks. Viva coming over is Maple’s favorite time of the week!”

“As our first time using Rover, it was a great experience with Harrison. Our dog can get nervous/overly excited when meeting new people and Harrison was able to calm him down with pets and attention. He was very kind, considerate and asked great questions when it came to our dog’s care and was very communicative if he had any questions or anything came up. Highly recommend!”

About: I love dogs in the usual ways people do, cuteness, friendships, and cuddles but I also find dogs to be amazing and believe that there is so much more that humans can learn from our canine companions. From walking my neighbors dogs as a kid, to having family dogs growing up, I've always been curious to what kinds of thoughts are going through the dogs mind. An emotionally difficult experience was taking care of my family's shiba inu as he started getting older and dealing with multiple tumors in his body. It was painful to watch a dog that would always put up a fight to trim his nails not budge when I was cleaning the abscesses he had developed as a result of his cancers. I'm currently a medical student and know that it would be irresponsible for me to have a pet because I wouldn't be able to give them the love and attention that they deserve. But I'm happy to look out for other peoples pets while they attend to other part of their lives. I'm in medical school and so I have a few mandatory classes but most of my learning is independent at my computer as I study for the national exam. All my weekends are free. I think the most important thing is safety first. And the easy way to go about that is to thoroughly touch base with the owner. I'll ask a lot of questions in order to try to mimic what the routine is for the four legged friend so that there isn't a big shift in the everyday flow. I also understand if it takes a while for dogs/cats to warm up to a stranger so I take a slow and steady approach.
About: We love taking care of dogs! We are the go-to pet sitters for our friends and family, and now that we are up in Portland, would love to be the go-to sitter for your pup! We've cared for a range of dogs, from puppies to senior pups, and all sizes in between. We have a wonderful 5-year old rescue pup named Dill. He is extremely sweet and does well with other dogs at the dog park and obedience classes. We request that all dogs that stay with us for doggy day care or boarding are friendly with other dogs. We do have space to keep pups separated for breaks, if needed. We both currently work from home so have extremely flexible schedules. During the week, our evenings are typically spent at home and the weekends are usually open! We currently live in a large 1 bed apartment with our rescue dog Dill. Your pup would be the only additional dog that we care for and we would introduce them to our pup at a comfortable pace! We have a partially-enclosed backyard and are near the Western Promenade for adventures.
About: I am a "retired" (career change) veterinary nurse with over 7 years of professional experience, along with 25 years of personal experience caring for creatures of all shapes and sizes. I am comfortable taking care of your furry family members of any age, or health status. I can easily and happily draw up and administer medications orally, or by injection. I have experience handling cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, and horses. I have my own special needs elderly kitty, which means I completely understand how important routines are for them. I can comfortably walk your dogs of any size, but any dog over 65lbs must be well behaved on a leash. I will keep you up to date with photos and updates of your fur baby while you're out of town. I am reliable, and easily reachable. I will provide you and your pets with the highest standard of care. I currently work full time Monday through Friday 8-4:30, but I work from home 3 days a week and can provide potty breaks and walks on my lunch breaks on those days, as well as visits before and after work if need be. All pet care will take place in your home, as I do not have the room or pets that are comfortable with others coming into their home. This also limits the amount of stress your loved one goes through during this time.
About: Nice to meet you, I'm Jay. Since 2015, I've cared for anxious, reactive, or happy-go-lucky pups. From a shelter environment to dog walking, doggy daycare, and vet emergency rooms, I've had hands-on experience with dogs of all ages and temperaments. I'm currently studying positive reinforcement training and have successfully supported 20+ reactive dogs in a day to day enrichment program tailored to each of their needs from Sept 24-June 25 before fully focusing on one on one services. I am able to care for animals for around 30-40hrs a week. I am used to working a full time job with animals and enjoy being able to spend my day working them. Your home is your safe place and your dog's favorite place to be. I work hard to make sure your dog's routine is followed and your home stays just as neat and clean as you left it.
Libbytown dog parents share their Rover experiences
Gabriel is a great Dogwalker! He communicates well, he’s prompt and he’s fantastic with our two senior whippets. They always seem happy when we come home from work because he takes them on long leisurely walks and gives them the attention they crave. I highly recommend him!

Danny was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond to treat my dog like his own dog. We have been going to the same dog park for a while and I can't think of anyone better to help give you dog exercise. He was always timely - and my dog can often be a lot of energy, but it was no problem for Danny. He is phenomenal with dogs, of any kind, and extremely trustworthy. I truly can not recommend him more.
