About: I’ve grown up with dogs and have years of experience caring for pets, including walking, feeding, playing, giving lots of attention, and staying with them while their owners are away. I have two dogs of my own and have also cared for pets for family, friends, and others over the years, so I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, ages, personalities, and energy levels. As a senior at UNH, I have a flexible class schedule with plenty of availability throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and pet care. I live right in downtown Durham, so I’m within walking distance of many nearby neighborhoods, and I also have my own car for clients a little farther away. I’m able to work around my classes and can be available during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends depending on your pet’s needs! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always make sure to follow their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel safe and comfortable. I pay close attention to any instructions about feeding, walks, medications, playtime, or specific behaviors to look out for. I’m respectful of both your pet and your home, and I make sure doors, gates, leashes, and other safety measures are always secure. I know lots of great adventure and sniffing spots/trails all around the area and would love to provide whatever level of exercise your dog is up for. About: I love spending time with dogs of all sizes and personalities! I am responsible, dependable, and will treat every pet like my own! I also have experience with dog sitting and walking. I love being active and outside. I also am at school missing my puppies at home so I will give your all of the attention, this is just as much for me as it is for them! “Laurie was wonderful! We booked her for a few days worth of drop-in visits with our 1 year old dog Luna (40-lb border collie mix). We've only had Luna for 4 months (rescue) and she is incredibly timid and loud around strangers in the house. We were worried going into the weekend that we might even have to cancel our trip because Luna has been unmanageable by just about everyone we've tried to get to walk her. And even with us, on walks she is easily distracted and will try to chase everything from squirrels to grasshoppers. It can be a challenge for non-family to even get close enough to get a leash on her. Laurie was so kind and patient with Luna, and spent so much time with her to gain her trust. She proved fully capable of leashing Luna and bringing her on long walks. We will definitely be booking Laurie again! (provided she would be willing!)”
