Aaron is awesome! He put up with my blabbering about my dogs during our meet and greet, and was very polite and kind. He didn’t mind my dogs’ high energy and excitement. He took very cute pictures of them while he was looking after them, and he kept me updated on how they were doing. He’s an absolute delight; I can’t recommend him enough!

About: Ive worked as a kennel technician for over 10 years and truly know what it means to care for animals professionally and personally. I know every dog in the kennel by name and take pride in understanding each pets unique personality and needs. I have studied animal behavior and am experienced with everything from shy, anxious pups to reactive or high energy pups. I also have hands on experience with a variety of health issue dog and am very in tuned with changes in behavior and health conditions. Your pets safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priority, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. I work full time 7-3:30 Monday through Friday. I am available for walks anytime after 3:30 & completely open in the weekends. Our two dogs and two cats are great with visitors so we can take boarders anytime. I am willing to house sit but not for longer stays. Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. With over 10 years of kennel and animal handling experience, I provide structured, supervised care tailored to each dog’s individual needs and personality. Dogs enjoy enriching nature walks and adventure outings with safe travel accommodations including secured seatbelt leashes and a comfortable transport setup. During meals and rest times, dogs can be safely separated using gates to ensure a calm, stress-free environment. My home also features a gated wrap-around deck for supervised outdoor time, play, fresh air, and relaxation in a secure setting. Whether your dog is energetic, shy, reactive, or simply loves adventure, I focus on creating a safe, patient, and positive experience from start to finish.

Michela is an absolutely amazing with my 2 cats and I couldn’t recommend her enough. She took her time with one in particular who is really shy & timid. By the end of the visit, Michela had won her over. She definitely has my fur babies best interest at heart while using her instincts. My cats fell in love with her by the end.

About: I have been surrounded by animals since I was little. I had cats at home and started horseback riding when I was six. Now, I am living in New Hampshire for 3 years, with my husband, our two dogs, our cat... only our mare stayed in France. I do not work, so I am available to take care of your pets. I can groom them, administer medicine (with clear instructions), walk them or just cuddle them. I may be out 4 hours max for my english lessons. We moved to the United States for my husband's job; I don't work, so I would be delighted to look after your babies as if they were my own. I take English classes twice a week in the morning, but I am completely free the rest of the time. At my home, your dogs will be treated just like mine, with access to the garden and unlimited playtime and naps. Introductions to my own dogs will be handled gently—especially with Flack, who can take a little time to warm up but is used to meeting plenty of doggy friends back in France. At your home, I will follow your instructions; since my English isn't perfect yet, please feel free to leave written notes.

About: I have had dogs my whole life, all different breeds with all different needs. My current dog lives with seizures and continuously needs attention, meds, and different foods, so I understand that all dogs need special care, and lots of love! My schedule varies, but I am actively looking to make extra money over the summer, so I will do my best to make bookings work! If visiting your home to care for your pup, I can take them on a walk, play with them, feed them, clean up any accidents if necessary, or give them meds if needed! I want to care for them just the same as you would.

About: As the brother of an MSPCA pet trainer and rehabilitator, I am well informed of how to properly care for animals big and small :) If your dog enjoys running, I will gladly run beside them and spend as much time outdoors with them as possible. I am free throughout the week and am able to be away from my apartment whenever is necessary. Mornings, days, and nights are all up for availability. I make sure to follow food measurements exactly and try not to give my dogs anything outside of their normal dining to avoid any unwanted GI problems. My dogs are able to get outside in the sun and fresh air many times a day (we have an electric fence to keep them off leash) and I love to play fetch with them until either of us get tired. (These are my parents pets, I do not have any currently at my apartment, but I helped raise them from puppy to where they are now)

About: Hi! My name is Angie, and caring for animals has always been a lifelong passion. I previously worked as a Manager at Paw Tuckaway Pet in Raymond, NH. Currently, I am pursuing my Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology while working locally as a Veterinary Assistant, allowing me to expand my knowledge and provide exceptional care to every pet I meet! With over 10 years of pet sitting experience, I've cared for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small mammals, and I'm comfortable handling pets of all kinds. I have a special interest in exotic pets and since 2020, I've specialized in nail trims for dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, and reptiles. When I'm not caring for pets, you'll usually find me curled up in a book. In my spare time I also enjoy exploring the outdoors, capturing nature through photography, and spending time with my sun conure, Maui. If you are looking for someone who treats every pet like family, I may be the right pet sitter for you! I am available before and after work as well as midday on days off. A typical drop-in visit is around 30 minutes and includes feeding, walking, potty, and anything else your pet may need. Every pet and their family is different, which is why no visit looks the same. I am flexible and willing to provide whatever you and your family may need while you are away, including getting mail, putting trash out, opening/closing blinds, switching lights, etc. I am also a huge fan of sending updates after each visit along with photos of your pet!

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Durham stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Durham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Durham with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Durham. On Rover:

  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
