“Leslie was everything that I could’ve hoped for in a pet sitter. My people shy kitty was very comfortable around her and so was I. I now feel like I don’t have to worry and wonder if friends can help me out when I travel. I can’t believe how easy this was and now I wonder what took me so long.”

“Absolutely incredible sitter! Great communication, tons of pictures, and my cats obviously really liked her which is the biggest plus! I hate leaving my pets for extended periods of time but Marion put me immediately at ease after her first visit. Highly highly recommend for your pets!”

About: Ive worked as a kennel technician for over 10 years and truly know what it means to care for animals professionally and personally. I know every dog in the kennel by name and take pride in understanding each pets unique personality and needs. I have studied animal behavior and am experienced with everything from shy, anxious pups to reactive or high energy pups. I also have hands on experience with a variety of health issue dog and am very in tuned with changes in behavior and health conditions. Your pets safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priority, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. I work full time 7-3:30 Monday through Friday. I am available for walks anytime after 3:30 & completely open in the weekends. Our two dogs and two cats are great with visitors so we can take boarders anytime. I am willing to house sit but not for longer stays. Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. With over 10 years of kennel and animal handling experience, I provide structured, supervised care tailored to each dog’s individual needs and personality. Dogs enjoy enriching nature walks and adventure outings with safe travel accommodations including secured seatbelt leashes and a comfortable transport setup. During meals and rest times, dogs can be safely separated using gates to ensure a calm, stress-free environment. My home also features a gated wrap-around deck for supervised outdoor time, play, fresh air, and relaxation in a secure setting. Whether your dog is energetic, shy, reactive, or simply loves adventure, I focus on creating a safe, patient, and positive experience from start to finish.
“Lydia is amazing with our two pups. Always on time to let them out and takes some amazing pictures so we don’t miss them too much! The check in throughout the few days we were gone helped ease my anxiety of leaving them while I’m away! Lydia is a great sitter and would recommend to anyone! ☺️”

“Julia is the BEST! She quickly won the trust and the heart of our little cat, and gave her exceptional care though out our time away. Julia provided detailed reports, lots of photos, and loads of love for our kitty. Julia will be our go-to care provider whenever we are away! THANK YOU, JULIA!”

“James did a great job caring for my 3 cats. He took time to let my 2 skittish cats warm up to him and even got photos of them! He leaves great notes, and is super kind.”

“Sarah did an amazing job caring for our cats! From her pictures it was clear they loved having her there to play with them and she was great about communicating throughout. Thank you, Sarah!”

“Michela is an absolutely amazing with my 2 cats and I couldn’t recommend her enough. She took her time with one in particular who is really shy & timid. By the end of the visit, Michela had won her over. She definitely has my fur babies best interest at heart while using her instincts. My cats fell in love with her by the end.”

“Courtney did a two-time drop in for our dogs and cats and was communicative and super great with them. She sent a picture and update after the drop-in and even left us a handwritten note. We are SO happy we found her!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs and have years of experience caring for pets, including walking, feeding, playing, giving lots of attention, and staying with them while their owners are away. I have two dogs of my own and have also cared for pets for family, friends, and others over the years, so I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, ages, personalities, and energy levels. I’m patient, dependable, and understand that every pet has their own routine and needs. I’m also comfortable following specific feeding, walking, and care instructions to make sure your pet feels safe and comfortable while you’re away! As a senior at UNH, I have a flexible class schedule with plenty of availability throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and pet care. I live right in downtown Durham, so I’m within walking distance of many nearby neighborhoods, and I also have my own car for clients a little farther away. I’m able to work around my classes and can be available during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends depending on your pet’s needs! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always make sure to follow their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel safe and comfortable. I pay close attention to any instructions about feeding, walks, medications, playtime, or specific behaviors to look out for. I’m respectful of both your pet and your home, and I make sure doors, gates, leashes, and other safety measures are always secure. I also know how reassuring it is to hear how your pet is doing while you’re away, so I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos!
“Laurie was wonderful! We booked her for a few days worth of drop-in visits with our 1 year old dog Luna (40-lb border collie mix). We've only had Luna for 4 months (rescue) and she is incredibly timid and loud around strangers in the house. We were worried going into the weekend that we might even have to cancel our trip because Luna has been unmanageable by just about everyone we've tried to get to walk her. And even with us, on walks she is easily distracted and will try to chase everything from squirrels to grasshoppers. It can be a challenge for non-family to even get close enough to get a leash on her. Laurie was so kind and patient with Luna, and spent so much time with her to gain her trust. She proved fully capable of leashing Luna and bringing her on long walks. We will definitely be booking Laurie again! (provided she would be willing!)”

About: Along with a few great clients over the years, I cared for my own aging dog, Ellie, for over 13 years. I know lots of great adventure and sniffing spots/trails all around the area and would love to provide whatever level of exercise your dog is up for. I'm good with discipline and keeping up with your pup's training, and take the time to get to know their needs and tendencies. Happy to keep you updated as much as you'd like (photos, texts, etc.) while you're away. I am typically available any day of the week with advanced notice, and I'm largely flexible as I work for myself and from home. I care deeply about yours and your pet's safety and comfort. I respect your space and like to be sure to know the rules (e.g., dogs welcome/not welcome on the couch).
About: I have had my dog for over 9 years. She is very good with others. I have a fenced in backyard, and a doggy door of the screened porch. When we are home during the day in good temperatures, the door to the house will be open giving dogs the freedom of where they want to relax or play. I am currently a stay at home Mom to my wonderful twins therefore I have a pretty flexible schedule I can work around, especially if it avoids the kids naps. I have a fenced in backyard that is connected to the house via a screened in porch so there are many options of where to hang out. At night everyone is inside.
About: I am an experienced dog sitter, walker, and lover. I have taken care of all different types and size of pups from Chihuahuas to Pit Bulls. I am also experienced and capable of caring for elderly dogs (deaf, blind, incontenant), puppies (in all stages of training), and dogs with additional needs (such as dietary restrictions). I am more than happy to cater to your dogs need to make sure they are as comfortable and content as possible! Pets are always more than welcome to curl up on the couch, the bed, or any cozy nook they can find. I am currently available during weekdays and weekends. My schedule is flexible and I am happy to accommodate you and your pet however I can. I love to walk and having a canine companion is a dream come true. Because I'm not able to have a dog of my own right now, taking care of others brings me so much joy! As an aside, I love taking dog portraits (check out my photos!), so you can expect lots of photo updates throughout your dogs stay! I am currently applying to graduate school, so I have more than enough time to dedicate to your pups! I am home during the weekdays and weekends, so your dog/s will rarely if ever be left alone. I have a flexible schedule and am happy to accommodate you however I can, including drop off and pick up times. I currently live in an apartment without a yard. However, we live in a wonderful neighborhood full of safe walking paths and streets with grassy parks nearby. I love to walk and be outdoors, so if your pet is extra active I am happy to play with them and meet their energy level! I have two housemates who are also experienced pet sitters and walkers. Your pet will be loved where ever they turn in our home! We're already so excited to me them.

Lydia helped us with a late request to check in on our cat while we were away, and she was wonderful! She was timely, communicative, and was able to help with our cats transition to a new food and administer medicine for her! We will definitely be reaching out again for check ins in the future!

Jenna was an amazing sitter while I was out of town. She was so kind and patient with my shy girl Olive. She kept me updated everyday and made sure Olive’s water fountain was always full and that her litter was clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a cat sitter!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
