I am available for walks anytime after 3:30 & completely open in the weekends. Our two dogs and two cats are great with visitors so we can take boarders anytime. I live right in downtown Durham, so I’m within walking distance of many nearby neighborhoods, and I also have my own car for clients a little farther away. I’m able to work around my classes and can be available during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends depending on your pet’s needs! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always make sure to follow their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel safe and comfortable. I pay close attention to any instructions about feeding, walks, medications, playtime, or specific behaviors to look out for. I’m respectful of both your pet and your home, and I make sure doors, gates, leashes, and other safety measures are always secure. I also know how reassuring it is to hear how your pet is doing while you’re away, so I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos!
“Laurie was wonderful! We booked her for a few days worth of drop-in visits with our 1 year old dog Luna (40-lb border collie mix). We've only had Luna for 4 months (rescue) and she is incredibly timid and loud around strangers in the house. We were worried going into the weekend that we might even have to cancel our trip because Luna has been unmanageable by just about everyone we've tried to get to walk her. And even with us, on walks she is easily distracted and will try to chase everything from squirrels to grasshoppers. It can be a challenge for non-family to even get close enough to get a leash on her. Laurie was so kind and patient with Luna, and spent so much time with her to gain her trust. She proved fully capable of leashing Luna and bringing her on long walks. We will definitely be booking Laurie again! (provided she would be willing!)”
About: I am an experienced dog sitter, walker, and lover. I have taken care of all different types and size of pups from Chihuahuas to Pit Bulls. I am also experienced and capable of caring for elderly dogs (deaf, blind, incontenant), puppies (in all stages of training), and dogs with additional needs (such as dietary restrictions). I am more than happy to cater to your dogs need to make sure they are as comfortable and content as possible! Pets are always more than welcome to curl up on the couch, the bed, or any cozy nook they can find. I am currently available during weekdays and weekends. My schedule is flexible and I am happy to accommodate you and your pet however I can. I love to walk and having a canine companion is a dream come true. Because I'm not able to have a dog of my own right now, taking care of others brings me so much joy! As an aside, I love taking dog portraits (check out my photos!), so you can expect lots of photo updates throughout your dogs stay! I am currently applying to graduate school, so I have more than enough time to dedicate to your pups! I am home during the weekdays and weekends, so your dog/s will rarely if ever be left alone. I have a flexible schedule and am happy to accommodate you however I can, including drop off and pick up times. I currently live in an apartment without a yard. However, we live in a wonderful neighborhood full of safe walking paths and streets with grassy parks nearby. I love to walk and be outdoors, so if your pet is extra active I am happy to play with them and meet their energy level! I have two housemates who are also experienced pet sitters and walkers. Your pet will be loved where ever they turn in our home! We're already so excited to me them.
