“Stephanie took wonderful care of my cat during her drop-in visits! She provided timely updates and photos. When I informed Stephanie of my cat’s asthma and the emergency inhaler device he uses, she let me know she would research its instructions before her visits to be prepared. I would absolutely recommend Stephanie!😸”

“Jason was amazing! He was very trustworthy and communicative - especially since I was out of the country and in a different time zone sending messages at odd times. I would (and will!) 100% hire him again.”

“Maria was wonderful! This is our first time using Rover and leaving our dog Luna with someone other than friends and family. Luna was well taken care of and was so happy to see her each time she came. She even watered my flowers that were wilting on the table!”

“Jennifer was so amazing! Her communication was great and gave us small updates everyday on how our kitties were doing. I know she did an amazing job because when we got home from our trip our cats did not immediately need attention. So she definitely made them feel safe and loved. I would 100% book again.”

“Amazing Kate to the rescue, again. Kate is an awesome person who always goes the extra mile with your fur babies. She takes initiative to do some extra things that say so much about her as a Sitter and a person! Rock on Kate!❤️ ❤️❤️”

“Abigail was wonderful and Luna was so happy to see her! This was our first time leaving town and having someone other than friends and family. She was professional and kept us informed with lots of pictures. It was comforting to know Luna loved her and she was so reliable.”

About: Since I was a young girl I was always the family remember in charge of making sure our pets were fed, entertained, trained and given exercise. Around the age of 10 was my first time watching over our neighbors new puppy as they went on vacation. At the time I was nervous but my energetic energy matched the puppy perfectly. Currently i’m renting an apartment at my college UNH with my cat and a roommate. My neighbors who have pets continuously asked me to watch them because of how much time and energy I put into carrying for them. Sometimes I only watch them for the day when work or school takes over and other for extended periods of time. If this becomes the case I make sure to walk and entertained the pet so that they don’t feel lonely. Cat sitting in house is my most common form of cat sitting. Cats and dogs have very different needs from a sitter that I can provide with my years of experience working and owning my own pets I’m currently on summer break until August so my availability to spend time with your fur babies is very open. Keeping in mind that it is still my break there will be times in which I wish to fully experience my summer :) If there is a fenced in yard or not, I still plan to take pups on daily leash walks to ensure safety of the both of us. Ultimately whatever the client feels most comfortable and confident with I will ensure to use those methods. This can include crate use, specific walk routes, specific animal preferences and more.
“We felt so at ease having Marion take care of our cat, Norman, when we were out of town! She is an animal lover and took great care of Norman while we were gone. We 100% recommend her to anyone in need of a pet sitter!”

About: I've had a variety of pets throughout my life, including dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, sugar gliders and right now I currently have a chinchilla. I love all animals, and am always up for helping family/friends with their pets if needed. I'm very laid back and do not mind taking extra time to offer my lap if your fur baby requires extra doting and snuggles. I am currently between jobs, so I have plenty of time during the day at the moment. I'm happy to spend some time playing/hanging out! I am currently unable to care for pets in my own home, but I'm happy to come to you! I will respect any instructions or boundaries. I'm more than happy to do a meet and greet prior to care to discuss expectations.
“Our scheduled pet sitter canceled and in desperation, I searched the internet and found Rover. I sent out my request and in minutes James responded. I was instantly relieved. He came over to visit us before leaving for vacation to meet us and our pets. James administered medication and took wonderful care of our 4 cats and dog. We are super grateful for all the help and services James provided us. We will definitely rebook again!!!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Dover
Rebecca is an amazing pet sitter. We consistently use her to take care of our cats while we're away. She goes above and beyond to care for them and is great with providing updates and photos. We know our fur babies are in good hands when they are with Rebecca. She's a great communicator, very reliable, and wonderful with pets.
Just finished my first booking through Rover & Tricia was my chosen provider. While my 2 cats do not require medication or any complicated feeding regimens, one of them is quite sensitive and changes to her routine can engender defensiveness. At our meet-n-greet, I was very surprised & pleased when both cats strode up to Tricia to greet her & get pets. She took notes on my furry babies' personalities, preferences and usual routines. Throughout the 11 days of the care agreement, Tricia was prompt, communicative, gracious and accommodating. SO much so that, in making future plans to be away, I expect to consult her schedule before finalizing travel!
Wendy was wonderful in taking care of our cat while we were gone for Christmas. She sent multiple pictures each day, stayed with Maggie longer than the minimum time to comfort and support her, and properly fed and watered her. I would hire Wendy again in a heartbeat and plan to do so when we go back to NY in May. This woman is one of the really professional and competent sitters out there. Thank you, Wendy.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dover. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
