Safety, trust & environment
If there is a fenced in yard or not, I still plan to take pups on daily leash walks to ensure safety of the both of us. Ultimately whatever the client feels most comfortable and confident with I will ensure to use those methods. This can include crate use, specific walk routes, specific animal preferences and more.
Information Sofia D. would like to know about your pet
If your dog or cat has any odd/ interesting behaviors or medications, let me know ahead of time so I can work out a routine that works best for their comfort.
A typical day
When I pet watch any animal, it’s extremely important that firstly they are familiar with my smell and presence in their home and safe space. With cats it’s been a bit more difficult to get them accustomed so I always make sure to stick to a comfortable routine. I typically play and exercise all animals after they eat for digestion support. With dogs, I that includes take them on a walk or playing with a toy. For cats, I use the wand toy and any ball type toy just to ensure that they move. Typically this tires them out enough. At this point I give them pets, cuddles, love and kisses before they take a long nap. I repeat this process in the evenings as well. Thought the afternoon is when I clean up the litter box and play with a treat reward.

Pet care experience
Since I was a young girl I was always the family remember in charge of making sure our pets were fed, entertained, trained and given exercise. Around the age of 10 was my first time watching over our neighbors new puppy as they went on vacation. At the time I was nervous but my energetic energy matched the puppy perfectly. Currently i’m renting an apartment at my college UNH with my cat and a roommate. My neighbors who have pets continuously asked me to watch them because of how much time and energy I put into carrying for them. Sometimes I only watch them for the day when work or school takes over and other for extended periods of time. If this becomes the case I make sure to walk and entertained the pet so that they don’t feel lonely. Cat sitting in house is my most common form of cat sitting. Cats and dogs have very different needs from a sitter that I can provide with my years of experience working and owning my own pets

Reviews

Responsible and timely. Thanks!
I have no hesitation recommending Sofia as a caregiver for Rover.com. After hiring Sofia numerous times to watch/feed/walk/bathe/etc. (and everything in between) our cats and dog, Sofia has proven herself to not only be a reliable and trustworthy caregiver, but also just a genuinely awesome human being.
