“Hannah was a great friend date for our doodles. They both looked so happy to be with her and the communication was great! We’re already looking forward to our next visit! Thank you”
“Azariah was very communicative and it’s very obvious that she cares for animals. She followed all instructions to care for my two kitties. I got plenty of pictures and sweet little messages about how they interacted with her and it was nice that even my shyest cat came out when she would come over. I’ll absolutely book with Azariah again.”

“Hanan is a great dogsitter for Frankie! She checks in on her & makes sure she gets a chance to run around and play. She sends lots of pictures so we feel good to see that Frankie is having fun. Hanan brings special skills to the job because of her dog training knowledge. Our dog barks and barks at new people, but Hanan is good at navigating the challenge. I saw Frankie warm up pretty fast during the meet and greet. 🩷”

“Lukis did a great job caring for my cats Ruby and Lincoln! They loved hanging out with Lukis and I got consistent detailed updates throughout the weekend I was out of town. Lukis was also great at coordinating key handoffs with me.”

“Callie is incredible!! This was my first time having someone I didn’t personally know check on my boys and I am so lucky to have found Callie. She took care of them (and my apartment), and always left amazing updates at the end of each check in. She even made sure my plants didn’t die because there was a heat wave while I was gone. Percy and Rocket told me they would love to have her back <3 thank you!!”

“Randi did a great job watching our three cats - even our shy one came out to play with her! The kitties are all very happy after we've been gone, a testament to Randi's care. Would highly recommend working with her.”

“Breanna was great! Our cat had a great time with her when we were away. She kept us updated with texts, photos, and videos while we were away (and even FaceTimed us when we wanted to confirm a tricky house item). Kenny seems to have enjoyed having all of the attention and great playtime with Breanna. Would hire again!”

“We have a high maintenance multiple cat situation that Chelsea handled without a hitch. She asked great questions during our initial meet, and was prompt, attentive and kind to our cats. She gave me an update every visit along with photos of each cat so I knew they were all accounted for and doing ok. Would hire again and highly recommend.”

About: I worked at Premier Pet Supply for a year and a half, and LOVE dogs!! I am also very active and am used to walking my 50lb pitbull who knows how to pull😂 I am currently a full-time student who works a part-time job! I have a cat who I love and care for, as well as my mother’s dog and numerous family friends who I enjoy pet-sitting for. I am very active so walks are always fun, and I can watch pets overnight as needed! I am in an apartment right now, so dogs would transparently be difficult to board, but in a clients home I have historically done very well! I work 7 hour days 4 days a week currently, which can be adjusted as needed for clients and their pets comfort. I am also very good at following instruction and caring for animals- I used to work at a pet store!
“Lauren was absolutely wonderful with our timid kitty. She took wonderful pictures everyday and took the time to pet and cuddle our kitty. They really bonded very quickly and I know it's because Lauren is phenomenal. Highly recommend!”

About: What sets me apart is my calm, patient approach and genuine love for animals of all temperaments. I have experience caring for both energetic dogs and sensitive cats, including shy or anxious pets. I pay close attention to each animal’s routine, body language, and comfort level, ensuring safe, stress-free walks and visits. I treat every pet like they’re my own, with reliability, consistency, and lots of affection. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine as I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to each pet’s needs. I am able to plan walks, feeding visits, and playtime consistently throughout the day, including mornings and afternoons. This allows me to give pets reliable attention, follow their routines closely, and provide calm, unhurried care without time pressure or distractions. When caring for pets in clients’ homes, I prioritize safety, trust, and respect for the environment at all times. I follow each owner’s instructions carefully, ensuring pets remain secure, comfortable, and on their normal routine. I maintain a calm, attentive presence so animals feel safe and relaxed. I also respect the client’s home by keeping it clean, secure, and exactly as I found it. Building trust through reliability, clear communication, and responsible care is at the heart of everything I do.
“Ariel is hands down the best sitter I’ve booked with in my two years and two cities on Rover! She is so kind, communicative, and sent the best pictures and updates while we were traveling over the holidays. She really put me at ease knowing our kitty was in great hands. 10/10 would definitely book with her again :)”

About: What sets me apart is my professional animal care experience combined with genuine compassion for every pet I meet. As an Animal Care Technician, I have experience handling animals with different personalities, needs, and temperaments. I understand animal behavior, safety, and the importance of creating a calm, trusting environment. I am comfortable caring for puppies learning routines, energetic pets needing exercise and enrichment, and senior animals requiring extra patience and attention. I take time to understand each pet’s unique personality and provide personalized care through play, companionship, feeding routines, and observation of their health and behavior. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, loved, and respected while giving owners peace of mind knowing their furry family member is in experienced hands. I currently work for Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) during the morning hours so I’m available after 4pm Monday through Thursday and on Friday and Saturday Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I carefully follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medication instructions, and house rules. I maintain a clean, calm environment, ensure doors and gates remain secure, provide constant supervision when appropriate, and treat both your home and your pet with the utmost respect and care.
“Lauren takes such good care of our babies🥹and is super accommodating. We are very grateful to have someone so loving for them. She really wants what’s best for the pups, goes above and beyond. It is such a relief to know they’re in good hands.”
About: I grew up with all types of pets, and pet sat for friends and family throughout undergrad. I've cared predominantly for dogs, ranging from a young miniture dachshund to an elderly lab mix. I am more than happy to take on new experiences and can swiftly adapt to meet your pets needs. In addition to caring for pets, I have an ever growing (and thriving) plant collection in my own home and have frequently taken on plant sitting as well. I am a full-time law student and work part-time on the weekends. During the week, my schedule is flexible, providing me time before, after, or even between classes to check in on your pets. On the weekends, I typically work in the evening but remain free all morning. I also love to get outside and go for walks as much as I can and would love to have a furry friend come along! I believe caring for a pet in their own home is the better option. I think pets tend to feel more safe and secure in a familiar environment, which can help counter having an unfamiliar person around at the start. Additionally, in their own home, pets have access to all the food, toys, and other comforts they are used to. My first priority is to make sure your pet is safe and happy. I am always more than happy to adapt to your pets specific needs.
“Marissa did a great job checking in on our cat while we were out of town! I felt really comfortable and she went above and beyond, cleaning out her water bowl and litter box regularly. We would DEFINITELY work with her again”

About: I have had pets my entire life. I know the importance of having good pet care. I know how to play hard, but not too hard. I am more than willing to give them love when they need it. I have raised both puppies and kittens with my family and on my own. I have also had many senior animals. My last pet before my current cats was a cat I had had since I was 4 years old who lived with me her last year of life until it was time to put her to rest when she was 18. I will love all animals like they are my own because I would want the same done for mine. I do have quite a few jobs, so weekends are best for me. I work m-f in office roughly 8-4 sometimes 9-5 in Detroit. The later in the week the earlier I get home which is why th-sun is better for me. I play with them to make sure they get some exercise. For dogs I give them long walks. For all animals I make sure they have enough water and food. And for cats I make sure they have a clean litter space.
The median cost per visit for cat sitting in Detroit is $20

Jeannette is the best! We use her every time we go out of town to take care of our elderly cat who requires meds twice a day. She’s caring, thoughtful and her photos are the best! We see pics of our fur baby every day and he looks content and happy with her. We couldn’t ask for more! Highly recommend!!!!

Azariah was very communicative and it’s very obvious that she cares for animals. She followed all instructions to care for my two kitties. I got plenty of pictures and sweet little messages about how they interacted with her and it was nice that even my shyest cat came out when she would come over. I’ll absolutely book with Azariah again.

This was my first time ever using something like this and Randi had made it such a positive experience!! Randi is so sweet and amazing! She’s fast with communication and super good with instructions and from our first meeting I could tell she was going to be perfect! I had her watch my two cats for 4 Days and they were very happy to see her and enjoyed hanging out with her! I will be 100% using her again and I definitely recommend her!

I’m very happy with the care my cat received. She followed all of my instructions carefully and completed the basic care exactly as requested. Knowing my cat was safe made my trip much less stressful. I really appreciate her help and would happily book with her again. Highly recommended!

Preti was great with our cat Nebula. She came by our place before hand and asked questions while getting to know our girl a little bit. She filled out Rover Cards with detail and let me know if something unexpected happened. Overall she was a great sitter. Will be looking to book again.

Sydney did a great job watching my senior cat Jack. He mainly needs attention, and she spent the full 30-minute session after basic needs were taken care of giving him cuddles and spending time with him. I came back to find everything in order and a happy cat. I would absolutely book her again and recommend her!

Really on top of everything, making sure she knows where everything is and the cats’ general routine before arriving, even made sure to double check with me when they got overexcited for their food. My usually shy cats warmed up to her quickly, and judging by the pictures had a great time, I’ll definitely be hiring Eleanor again when I go away.

Areatha went above and beyond for our two cats. One of them had an unexpected eye infection right before we were planning to go on our trip. Areatha was incredibly flexible in making sure our kitty got her meds. She was always on top of communication and sent us photos and videos. I will definitely be booking with her again the next time we go out of town!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Detroit. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
