Availability
I am currently available mornings, and nights M-F and all day weekends. I typically visit 7-7:45am on weekday mornings and 4-7pm weekday nights. I make visits all day on weekends. I am happy to accommodate specific medication schedules upon request. Starting June 15th, I will be available 7am-9pm all seven days of the week. Starting June 15th, I will be opening slots for clients who wish for their dogs to join me on hikes or long walks (3+ hours) at dog-friendly hiking spots in Michigan. Owners will be charged the housesitting rate, and will be expected to prepare treats, meals, and water for their dogs. If you are interested in reserving a spot or speaking about specifics, please book an overnight stay so we can chat.

I aim to respect your home and leave it cleaner than I found it! I'm happy to clean pet bowls, vacuum pet beds, etc. If possible, please provide the name of your home internet and password. This saves time when I am sending you cards, questions, or other updates! For housesitting clients, I aim to send two updates minimum during the morning and afternoon/early evening. If you would prefer to have more or less updates, please let me know!

Information Lukis B. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know your pet's preferences ahead of time! Knowing what motivates them (food, attention, a particular toy) helps jumpstart a good pet-sitter relationship. I aim to follow your pet's routine as closely as possible, so feel free to be as detailed as you feel comfortable being while giving instructions. If you are unsure what I need to know, please consider detailing: when your pets eat, how much, where do they eat, where their toys are, if they are scared of anything, what their preferred activities are, how long their walks are.
A typical day
I love intellectually stimulated activities just as much as I love physically stimulating ones! A toilet paper roll can make dinner time much more exciting (with supervision, of course). I love playing fetch, finding exciting new smells, and tug-of-war! Dogs will receive a minimum of 60 minutes of activity split up into two walks, with more/less activity depending on weather and availability. I will usually log walks on Strava, and am happy to send you the walk summary if you are interested. **If your pets are okay with being pet by strangers, please let me know! I get asked very frequently by strangers if they can say hi to the dogs, and I will default to no. But, if that's something your dog is interested in, let me know!

Pet care experience
I've taken care of both cats and dogs for my entire life. From elderly beagles to pitbulls with no concept of their own size, I love them all! I'm experienced with special needs pets, having personally taken care of pets who are blind and deaf; who have FIV, FeLV and CKD; and who are missing teeth and tail. I am familiar with giving meds orally (both pill and syringe form), taking care of sick pets, and monitoring symptoms. You know what your pet needs, and I always make sure quality care is given in your absence! Please note I will likely use my own handless leash for safety purposes. I am comfortable working with reactive dogs and dogs with prey drives. However, it is crucial that you inform me of any behavior issues beforehand. Owners who are not upfront with behavior issues risk being dropped as clients. If booking times are flexible, please let me know. This helps me book you faster and allows us to start conversations about your pet's needs earlier. Please only book with me when you know what days and times I am needed. Open requests block times in my calendar, so booking in a timely manner is very important. If you would prefer to boom after the meet & greet, that is absolutely okay! Please just let me know upon scheduling the meet and greet.

Reviews

Lukis did a great job caring for my cats Ruby and Lincoln! They loved hanging out with Lukis and I got consistent detailed updates throughout the weekend I was out of town. Lukis was also great at coordinating key handoffs with me.

Lukis does a great job with my cat’s quirky needs and gives the most fun, frequent updates throughout the stay that show she is being cared for on a thoughtful and personal level <3 will continue booking in the future!
Flanders loved them and they were great to work with.

The best cat sitter ever!
