“We can't be happier with Sophia's service through Rover. The appointment schedule is easy and flexible with fast responses to our questions; most of all, Goliath seemed to really enjoy his stay. Plus, we also received real-time updates. Affordable and friendly service around the DC area, we highly recommend Sophia! Thanks, Sophia.”

“Huan was such great help taking care of my dog for 3 days. She was very communicative about his day and always sending me pics and videos of his day. Will totally recommend her as a pet sitter and I am sure we will be coming back again :).”

“Karen is absolutely amazing!!! Our Beagle loved running around in the fenced-in backyard and playing with the other dogs. Looking forward to having Karen watch our puppy moving forward!”

About: Hi!! I’m Michele and I live in a townhouse community in North Potomac/Gaithersburg, adjacent to the Kentlands. I have owned rescue dogs for 30 years, and I have always chosen dogs that are “hard to adopt” due to having a traumatic history, having accompanying anxiety or other behavioral challenges, and/or being a wrongly stigmatized breed. All of my dogs have been mixed breeds — a Doberman mix, a Shepherd mix, a Rottweiler mix, a Pitbull mix, a Mini Pin mix, and a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. I have also been helping my daughter over the past two years with her growing petsitting business. I have spent much of my career as a consulting writer and communications specialist in the global health and international development field, and have mostly worked from home. Due to recent changes in the federal government, most U.S.-based professionals in this field lost employment in 2025, and I am taking the opportunity to branch into more entrepreneurial paths that speak to my other personal passions. I always make sure my dogs (and yours!) have plenty of exercise, water, and hugs! And of course food and any medications according to your exact instructions. When I walk dogs, I am conscious of allowing them to have ample time to sniff and explore, as this gives them the mental exercise they need and tires them out for good naps during the day. I also love to give dogs play time in fenced yard/areas with any balls/toys they enjoy. I am available for walks at any time of the day, as well as housesitting in your home (or my home if you prefer!) when you are away! I am also happy to care for cats and any other pets. Thanks so much for considering me, and I hope to meet you and your best friend(s) soon! I’m currently rebuilding my career from scratch and have plenty of time for pet care! The work paths that I am building will all be mostly work-from-home. I will provide long and short walks, additional exercise in fenced areas, water, food, and medications! I am forever a dog-on-the-furniture/bed person but will happily respect your wishes if you prefer not to allow that. I will also provide crate training if desired! I currently do not have dogs living with me full time, but my daughter has two dogs and can bring them to my house anytime if you would like some social time built in.
“Thank you Monika for caring for our four-legged members of our family! He looked as if he had a great time and I loved all the pics you sent! You made being away from him easy and non-worriesome.”

“Ivan and his whole family took care of our little Oreo while he was with them. And their dog is wonderful and friendly. We got enough updates and pictures throughout the day. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Oreo at Ivan’s in the future.”

“Wenyan is a wonderful sitter who ensured that my dog had an amazing, safe day playing with other dogs. She's super patient with my new rescue, who is still learning the ropes on how to play appropriately with others. Her communication was great - she shared many pictures and gave us a detailed report of how his day went.”

“I left my dog, Tori, for daycare, and she was cared for so well. She is usually very timid, but she seemed so relaxed. Thank you for keeping me updated with lots of photos and for the lovely treat gift you gave her. We truly appreciate your thoughtful care and will definitely be back!”

“This was my 1st time dropping off Gibbs at Jayendri’s place. We are preparing him for a longer stay. The 1st time went well. Plenty of pictures shared and Gibbs came back happy. Jayendri was good at communicating proactively with me during the stay.”

About: I am currently only accepting hypoallergenic dogs for boarding and doggy daycare! These include but are not limited to: Bichon, Poodles (or any doodle), Yorkies, Maltese, and Schnauzer. I own two dogs, one is a young Miniature Goldendoodle that I have had since she was a couple of months old, and the other is a senior Toy Poodle that I have had since she was 5 years old. I have 10 years of experience caring for animals and always research how to best care for the animal in question. I have 2 years of experience with professional pet sitting. I am currently a student living at home, so I have plenty of time to care for pets, especially since I care for my own. I am available most of the week, every week. My yard is unfenced; however, we do have a chicken-wire fence in the backyard for my own dog, who has plenty of space to run around and play. We have lots of toys for your fur baby, and a kind and playful dog to keep your fur baby company. I can crate small dogs, but do not have large enough crates for large or medium dogs. If caring for your pet at your home, I can ensure your fur baby gets lots of playtime and walks.
“My little pup, Bella, was noticeably excited to see Katrina again, and when she was done with her visit, it was clear that Bella was very attached to Katrina and was well cared for during her stay. Thank you, Katrina, for always being so kind and caring with Bella. You are definitely the favorite of all her pet sitters!”
About: I have consistently provided care for family, friends, and my own pets. I possess a deep affection for animals. Throughout my life, I have been an ardent animal lover. My responsibilities include feeding and walking them, as well as engaging in playtime and cuddling. I am extremely passionate about animal welfare. With over 23 years of experience in pet sitting and walking, commencing at the age of 13, I have honed my skills. Currently, I am 36 years old and actively provide walking services for two dogs, in addition to pet sitting for two dogs. I also work at the dc zoo. Pet care aligns seamlessly with my interests and I derive considerable satisfaction from it. I appreciate being surrounded by such endearing animals. I possess flexibility and am adaptable at short notice. While dogs have an inherent need for structure and predictability, they are also capable of adjusting to new routines and unforeseen changes. Typically, provide essential care encompassing sustenance, hydration, and a secure environment, supplemented by optional services such as walks, playtime, and medication administration, all delivered with respect for the pet's distinctive needs and routine.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Darnestown
We have used Sophia twice now for daytime services and each time, our dog came home safe and happy. It's obvious Sophia has a lot of experience with pet care and gives me confidence in her ability to keep our dog happy. Sophia responds quickly to texts and provides pictures. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sophia to any pet parent. In fact, we already have Sophia booked for a long term stay while we go on vacation.

I can’t recommend these amazing dog sitters enough! My anxious dog Archie felt comfortable with them and absolutely loves spending time there. He gets along so well with their dog Loki, and it’s the sweetest thing watching him get so excited every time we arrive for drop-off. They’re kind and patient and really flexible with my pick up and drop off times as I have a long work day and commute. Megan and her husband were our first rover experience and they immediately made me feel really at ease with the updates, communication and pictures. It’s suchhhh a relief to be able to leave Archie with them when I have to go into the office and I know he’ll be taken care of. Will def continue to use their services and can’t thank them enough!

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
