“Jessica was able to sit for us on short notice and took care of our fur babies during the holiday season. She was flexible, able to administer medicine and spent time playing with our cats to help de-stress them while we were away.”
About: I've had cats and dogs my entire life and, for the first time, find myself without any pets. I have an abundance of ear scratches, belly rubs, and snuggles just waiting for pets who are missing their people. My husband and I both work from home with flexible schedules so are available for frequent potty breaks, walks, and playtime. We also have two children, 8 and 11, who both grew up with dogs and cats and are experienced and comfortable with both. Your pet will be the only one in our home, so they will get lots of attention, playtime, and snuggles! We have a big house that pets are free to explore and where they can make themselves at home. We also have an unfenced 3-acre backyard that connects to a path through the woods - your dog can enjoy a daily hike through the forest, smelling the many interesting smells and splashing in the creek if so desired. And we live on a cul-de-sac in a residential area perfect for safe neighborhood walks. If you are looking for someone who loves dogs and is responsible and loving to take care of your pups when you're not around, please reach out! Please note: 1. All dogs must be fully potty trained, neutered or spayed, vaccinated, and on flea and tick preventative. All pets must be comfortable with children. 2. Drop off time: 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Pick up time: 7:30 am to 9:00 pm 3. Things to bring: a. Bed or blanket or crate, whichever your pet prefers. b. Food and treats, along with feeding instructions. Please bring 2-3 extra days' worth of food in case of delays. Any unused food and treats will be returned. c. Any medications or supplements for your pet. Please bring prescription medications in their original containers along with clear written instructions. d. For a dog, a collar with name tag and phone number and a harness if used for walks. e. Any special toys.
“Monika was absolutely fantastic! She stepped in on short notice to watch my female German Shepherd for three days, doing drop-in visits in our home, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. My dog clearly had an amazing time - she loved her walks and came back happy and relaxed. Monika kept me at ease the entire time by sending regular photos and status updates, which I really appreciated. I felt completely comfortable knowing my baby was in such caring and trustworthy hands. I would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive sitter!”

“Jennifer took excellent care of our two cats while we were out of town! I received daily write ups and cute photos each day immediately following her visit. I will definitely utilize her services again!”

About: I will be happy to take care of your dog/dogs. My family and me have a lot of experience in doing so since we have our own dog, and often do dog sitting for our friends. I am studying online, and my parents work online full time. We have a lot of time and desire to make your dog’s stay with us comfortable. We are available at any time. I live in a big house with my family. We have a fenced backyard. We also have a super friendly Shetland Sheepdog, who will keep your fur baby company. We also live close to a huge park.

“Would don't hesitate to leave our furry boy knowing that Mary is there to check in on him. She's absolutely fantastic. She gives our cat all the love and attention he desires, keeps his litter box area clean, and tops up with our finicky amounts of food & water. Communication is top notch, as are the little anecdotes to tide us over while we're away! Thank you, Mary!”

“Pilar did an exemplary job taking good care of our Cali cat. Pilar is a clear communicator, dependable, thorough, and became Cali’s good friend while we were traveling. She sent us photos everyday that we enjoyed. I highly recommend Pilar.”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since I can remember. From house sitting, to walking them, to even taking care of my own dog. I’ve worked with different breeds and ages, and I love them all! I stay at home mostly throughout the week, and I’ve been wanting to get out a couple of times, and this would be the perfect opportunity to take care of your dogs in walking, or dropping by to play! I live in an apartment complex, so I would have to go to where you are to walk/play with your dog, or I could take them to a dog park!
About: I have had dogs my whole life. I currently have five: two labs, a Berner, and two rescue mutts. I also foster for rescue organizations, usually seeking the puppy or senior dogs. I can train puppies and administer meds to old dogs if needed. I love to take my dogs for walks and give them lots of exercise. I am a first grade teacher so I am home by 4pm during the week and also have some flexibility around lunchtime. I am off in the summers and all holidays. I am also available on weekends. I am happy to come to your house to care for your pet or your pet is welcome to stay at my home. I have a fenced one-acre yard and a great neighborhood for walking. I can offer your dog a comfy dog bed or have an extra crate if that is preferred.
“I am consistently impressed with Don’s attentiveness and excellent communication when caring for my two cats! I am a repeat customer of Don’s and will continue to hire him. I am often out of town for long stretches of time for work and I always come home to two happy, well cared for cats. Don always makes note of my cats’ behavior, as well as general care he performed. It’s a comfort knowing that Don is giving thorough attention to detail when I’m away.”

“Jina was an amazing sitter to my cat and dog. She sends thorough report cards and lots of pics. She helped with a couple small tasks of home care since it was an extended trip and was just a trustworthy and wonderful person to work with. Highly recommend and we will definitely use her again!!”

About: I’ve taken care of many different dogs and cats my whole life. I love to take care of pets and go on walks! I also am very flexible with timing and am always looking to be of help! I’m currently working part time, so I have a lot of free time to take care of and play with your pets! I am flexible with distance and timing as well. I will always be open to whatever you feel comfortable with in terms of keeping your pet safe. Their safety is my main priority always!

About: I am currently only accepting hypoallergenic dogs for boarding and doggy daycare! These include but are not limited to: Bichon, Poodles (or any doodle), Yorkies, Maltese, and Schnauzer. I own two dogs, one is a young Miniature Goldendoodle that I have had since she was a couple of months old, and the other is a senior Toy Poodle that I have had since she was 5 years old. I have 10 years of experience caring for animals and always research how to best care for the animal in question. I have 2 years of experience with professional pet sitting. I am currently a student living at home, so I have plenty of time to care for pets, especially since I care for my own. I am available most of the week, every week. My yard is unfenced; however, we do have a chicken-wire fence in the backyard for my own dog, who has plenty of space to run around and play. We have lots of toys for your fur baby, and a kind and playful dog to keep your fur baby company. I can crate small dogs, but do not have large enough crates for large or medium dogs. If caring for your pet at your home, I can ensure your fur baby gets lots of playtime and walks.
“Mia is a fantastic pet sitter! My two kitty cats became instant friends with her. She was timely and followed all the instructions wonderfully! Thanks for taking such great care of our pets! Highly recommend.”

“Kira was amazing and took care of our (oversized) dog very well while we were out of town. Have great, detailed reports and walk paths. Definitely recommend using her to watch your fur babies!”

“Susan has been absolutely fantastic as a dog walker! She is reliable, punctual, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. My dog immediately felt comfortable with her, which gave me great peace of mind. She always provides updates after walks and goes the extra mile to make sure my dog is happy and well cared for.”

About: Hi, I'm from Colombia. I love animals, especially dogs and cats. I've had pets all my life, so I know how important and valuable they are to us. With me you'll find an excellent caregiver; I love playing with them, taking them for walks, feeding them. You can fully trust me to leave your four-legged friend. I have full-time availability every day of the week, including weekends. Since I don't have other work commitments right now, my schedule is incredibly flexible. I can easily accommodate your pet's specific feeding, walking, and playtime routines at any time. When staying at your home, I strictly follow your rules and routines to keep your pet comfortable. I ensure all doors and gates are securely locked, maintain a clean space, and provide regular photo updates so you can have complete peace of mind while you are away.
About: Hi!! I’m Michele and I live in a townhouse community in North Potomac/Gaithersburg, adjacent to the Kentlands. I have owned rescue dogs for 30 years, and I have always chosen dogs that are “hard to adopt” due to having a traumatic history, having accompanying anxiety or other behavioral challenges, and/or being a wrongly stigmatized breed. All of my dogs have been mixed breeds — a Doberman mix, a Shepherd mix, a Rottweiler mix, a Pitbull mix, a Mini Pin mix, and a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. I have also been helping my daughter over the past two years with her growing petsitting business. I have spent much of my career as a consulting writer and communications specialist in the global health and international development field, and have mostly worked from home. Due to recent changes in the federal government, most U.S.-based professionals in this field lost employment in 2025, and I am taking the opportunity to branch into more entrepreneurial paths that speak to my other personal passions. I always make sure my dogs (and yours!) have plenty of exercise, water, and hugs! And of course food and any medications according to your exact instructions. When I walk dogs, I am conscious of allowing them to have ample time to sniff and explore, as this gives them the mental exercise they need and tires them out for good naps during the day. I also love to give dogs play time in fenced yard/areas with any balls/toys they enjoy. I am available for walks at any time of the day, as well as housesitting in your home (or my home if you prefer!) when you are away! I am also happy to care for cats and any other pets. Thanks so much for considering me, and I hope to meet you and your best friend(s) soon! I’m currently rebuilding my career from scratch and have plenty of time for pet care! The work paths that I am building will all be mostly work-from-home. I will provide long and short walks, additional exercise in fenced areas, water, food, and medications! I am forever a dog-on-the-furniture/bed person but will happily respect your wishes if you prefer not to allow that. I will also provide crate training if desired! I currently do not have dogs living with me full time, but my daughter has two dogs and can bring them to my house anytime if you would like some social time built in.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Darnestown
Andrew was an excellent sitter for our two kitties while we were away. He sent us numerous photos and adhered strictly to their routine. It was evident that our kitties adored him and were delighted to see him in the pictures. We’re definitely planning to use Andrew again for our next trip away.🥰

Lingshan was great! She was super communicative and sent lots of update photos. My cats are usually fearful of new people and will stay hidden with care takers, but my girl Mia warmed up to Lingshan immediately during our meet and greet and followed her around during every visit.

Isabella was wonderful with my kitties! This was my first time using Rover, and i was nervous because i usually have a family member care for my cats when i go out of town, but this year i sort of had a last minute cancelation with family and had no one else to turn to. I decided to check out Rover, and i found Isabella. We were not able to meet prior to me leaving town, but she assured me she would care for my cats while i was away. Isabella is very good! She came each morning and evening as we agreed and stayed in communication with me! My cats loved her...even one of my babies that i just new would hide, came out for her 😊 That right there shows me how good she is! Isabella is responsible and definitely an animal lover ❤️ I will definitely use her again and also refer anyone I know that is in need of a sitter, to Isabella!! THANK YOU SO MUCH ISABELLA!!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
