“Gloria was WONDERFUL. It was the first time we went with the sitter for our cat, and she eased all our anxiety. She was very communicative, kind, and thorough. We cannot recommend her enough.”

“Rene did an outstanding job taking care of my cat Max! She was always on time, fed him and gave him his medication, and lots of attention. Everything was neat and tidy when we returned as well. We will definitely be booking with Rene again in the future!”

About: I have taken care of my own dog since I was young, and since her passing I have routinely dogsit for friends and family. My childhood right-paw-man was a Beagle mix, and so I love to handle hounds who sniff first & think later (as well as distract them with Pupperoni…). I took care of her in her old age, so I have some experience in dropping medicine on the floor and pretending it’s a delectable morsel so dogs devour it! I also have handled plenty of bark-happy dogs, and like to bring treats on all my walks to incentivize more calmer adventures. I am currently in a partly asynchronous grad school program, and I’d love to spend my very flexible time taking healthy (and frequent) breaks from studying to care for your pet! I’m excited to adapt to fur-parents’ homes and needs! I’m comfortable crating pets, supervising outdoor time in fenced yards, and being attentive to your pets’ body language while inside their home.
“Susan was great! I felt safe with her taking care of my cat while I was away overseas. She was communicative the entire time, very responsive, left me daily notes on time, and my cat seemed to have had a great time with her. Would book again :)”

“Don inspired immediate trust with his excellent level of communication and gentle approach with our cats. We have two ancient Bengals, one who requires meds, and because of his previous experience, I could relax and know she would get her meds. He sent us pics each day and we came home to happy cats and a clean house. We will definitely be using Don again when we go away!”
About: Since childhood, I've embraced the role of caretaker for our family pets, a responsibility I continue to fulfill with joy and dedication to this day. Growing up surrounded by animals instilled in me a deep appreciation for their companionship and well-being. Whether it's feeding, walking, or simply providing love and attention, I find immense fulfillment in tending to their needs. Being in the presence of animals brings me genuine happiness, and I cherish every moment spent with them Incorporating pet care into my daily and weekly routine is second nature to me. I allocate time each morning and evening for feeding, walking, and ensuring they receive the attention and care they need to thrive. Beyond the essentials, I make it a point to spend quality time bonding with my pets, whether it's relaxing together at home or exploring the outdoors. Pet care isn't just a task for me, it's a rewarding part of my lifestyle that brings me joy and fulfillment As a pet sitter, I prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment for the pets in my care, whether in my own home or at the client's residence. In my home, I ensure that the space is pet-friendly, with designated areas for eating, sleeping, and playing. I maintain a consistent schedule for feeding, walking, and potty breaks, tailored to each pet's individual needs. Regular exercise and enrichment activities are integrated into their daily routine to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. When caring for pets in a client's home, I strive to maintain their familiar surroundings and routines to minimize stress and ensure their comfort. I follow the owner's instructions closely regarding feeding schedules, dietary restrictions, medication administration, and any other specific care requirements. I provide companionship and affection, spending quality time with the pets through play, cuddling, and interactive activities. Additionally, I keep the home tidy by cleaning up after the pets and adhering to any house rules set by the owner.
About: I’ve been caring for other people’s dogs and cats for years, with my experience caring for pets going all the way back to my teens. For the past two years, I’ve especially loved walking and doing drop-in visits for dogs in my neighborhood, and I’ve also cared for cats through house sitting and drop-in visits over the years. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each fur baby, learning their personality and routine, and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their humans are away. I’m a dog mom myself, so I know how important it is to have someone you truly trust caring for your pets. After having such wonderful experiences using Rover for my own fur babies, I decided it was time to join the sitter side and share that same kind of care with other families! 🐾 I work from home and have a flexible schedule, which makes welcoming another fur baby into my home an easy fit! I personally provide all care, so your dog will have plenty of company, attention, playtime, and love throughout the day rather than spending long stretches alone. I’m happy to follow their usual feeding, potty, walking, and bedtime routine as closely as possible. Your fur baby will be welcomed into my dog-loving home with a fully fenced-in yard and two friendly dogs who love having company! I work from home and have a flexible schedule, so your dog will get plenty of attention, outdoor time, and companionship throughout the day. I’ll personally provide their care and follow their normal feeding, potty, sleeping, and care routines as closely as possible so they feel safe, comfortable, and right at home while their humans are away.

About: I have gained valuable experience in pet care through years of looking after various animals, including dogs, cats, and small mammals. My responsibilities have included feeding, grooming, administering medications, and ensuring they receive regular exercise. I work from home which allows me to provide personalized care for your pet, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need throughout the day Caring for pets in my home or your home involves creating a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment tailored to each pet’s needs. Ensure dietary needs or restrictions are strictly observed. Walk dogs according to their energy levels and usual routines. Engage in playtime activities, such as fetch, tug-of-war, or interactive toys. Provide enrichment for cats with climbing spaces, toys, and interactive play. Administer medications as instructed by the owner or vet. Monitor for any changes in behavior, appetite, or physical condition. Keep a record of any health updates or concerns. Maintain a clean environment, ensuring litter boxes and bedding are fresh. Pet-proof the area to prevent access to harmful substances or hazards. Offer a safe space for the pet to rest and feel secure. Provide owners with photos, videos, and updates to give them peace of mind. Discuss any concerns or observations promptly. By following these practices, I ensure pets are happy, healthy, and well-cared for whether they are in my home or their own familiar environment.
“Ana is incredible I’ve had her over at least 6 times No less than three days traveling.... Doing dropping visits for my dog, Sasha. She is an absolute breeze to work with and super patient!”

“Alejandra was great! We left her with a menagerie of "critters" to take care of--one cat, one guinea pig, two Bearded Dragons, one Crested Gecko, and fish--and she managed all of them just fine. She was very responsive with communication and sent us photos every day of each animal/reptile. I will definitely book her again to take care of our "zoo!"”

About: I’m a professional dog groomer and currently manage a grooming salon located inside a veterinary clinic. I’ve been working in the veterinary and pet-care world for about 3 years, and I absolutely love being surrounded by animals every day! Working with pets has been incredibly rewarding for me. I love getting to know each pet’s personality, making them feel safe and comfortable, and helping them live happy, healthy lives. I understand that leaving your pet in someone else’s care can be stressful, so I always treat every pet as if they were my own. I am currently working part time at the veterinary clinic so I will be able to spend the afternoons with the pups/kitties. Sometimes (and if you feel comfortable of course) I could bring them to work with me since there is plenty of space and toys (and they get all of the attention and love) here at the clinic! I have two kitties who are used to interact with other animals, I have a fenced patio so you can be sure they will always be secure and safe. I am also willing to stay overnight at your home if you think your furry baby will be more comfortable in their own space.
“Katherine did a wonderful job taking care of our kitty. Our cat is very shy at first but Katherine was patient letting her warm up slowly until she was ready for daily pets and playtime. She was super responsive, communication was great, and she went above and beyond bringing in packages and taking out trash. Would definitely book again and highly recommend her!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
