“Irina was great!! Her communication was excellent and she kept me updated with photos of my cats! Felt so reassured while being away from home. Would definitely reach out to here again :)”

“Carey really is the best. She provides so many updates and keeps us informed. She takes the best care of our house, cat and fish tank too! She was as usual really good to our cat.”
“Michelle was wonderful taking care of Leo and Lucia. She sent detailed updates and photos after each visit, and we really enjoyed reading about her interactions with Leo. She was attentive, thoughtful and even took care of a few things we hadn’t asked her to do. You can tell she genuinely loves cats, and her updates gave us a few good laughs. We’d definitely book her again and highly recommend her!”

“Marti was truly outstanding with our pup! From the very first visit, she was thoughtful, attentive, and incredibly communicative. She made sure he was well cared for through multiple walks each day—even working around storms and hot weather to make sure he was comfortable and safe. She gave us regular, detailed updates, complete with sweet observations about his mood, habits, and how he was doing while we were away. Our dog can be a bit particular, but Marti clearly understood him and made sure he got just the right balance of activity, affection, and quiet time. She even noticed when he was a little more anxious and made sure to help him walk it off and settle with his favorite kong. We came home to a happy pup, and we felt at ease knowing he was in such good hands. We'd absolutely recommend Marti to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate, and communicative caregiver. She's the best!”

“Love Marci! The pups adore her, and she’s always on time and sends me great pics of playtime!! Love Marci and Love Rover! What a peace of mind on the long work days away from home ;-)”
“Raquel was amazing! She stepped in on short notice and took great care of Ivy! She was very communicative and went above and beyond in treating her as if she as her own! Highly recommend!”

“This was our first time with Rover, and Luca loved Skyler from the minute he met him at our meet-and-greet! Skyler is a natural with him and comes fully prepared to best take care of your pup! Couldn't be more pleased.”

About: I have loved dogs my whole life, but when I adopted a senior dog in college I truly fell in love and spoiled her with walks, pets, and coordinated outfits! I have dog sat for the numerous dogs in my family as well. I am a student with a variable schedule and don’t have the resources for my own dog at this time, so I would love to help you with yours:) I am a student with a variable schedule! Right now I am working 2-3 12 hour shifts per week and have the other days completely off! I believe in treating all things with respect especially when it comes to other people’s loved ones and belongings. I work in the medical field and find a lot of joy in taking care of others which extends to animals as well.
“Jennifer was so, so awesome with my two pups and kitty! She went above what was asked/expected, checked in regularly, updated us with (super cute) photos, and left the house how she found it. My Three Amigos are looking forward to the next time they get to spend time with her!”
About: I've been cat and dog sitting since 2016, staying at friends and family members' homes to provide care for pets while they're away. From that experience, I've learned about feeding, walking, and giving attention to each pet's needs. I'm always curious to learn more about them and being a reliable pet sitter for the family. I also like to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I work fully remote. Sometimes, I go in the office if needed, but my schedule is pretty flexible. I can stop by after work or stay overnight during the week. I just need a heads up at least 3+ days prior to make sure it works with my schedule. I prefer to stay at the client's home while they're away, so the pets can stay comfortable in their familiar space and get attention during the day.
“She was awesome! She sent us pictures and updates, and she was so sweet and caring with our dogs. I felt very comfortable knowing they were in good hands. I’ll definitely book with her again!”

I’ve taken care of dogs with all kinds of personalities, from super energetic and playful to the ones that just want to hang out and sleep all day lol. I’ll always make sure your pet gets plenty of attention and feels comfortable with me, and I’m happy to send pictures and updates while you’re away! Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. About: I have taken care of small to medium dogs and all cats for several years for neighbors and family which included walks, feeds, and play. I currently work remote full time so my schedule is flexible to take care of your furr baby. I am available all weekends and most weekdays with one day notice. I am very flexible with drop off/pick up times. I’ve had pets my whole life. A goofy black lab named Jake and four cats who ran the house. I love all animals, but I have a soft spot for dogs and cats. I work from home, so your pet will get tons of attention, snuggles, and playtime throughout the day. I’m happy to stick to their usual potty, feeding, and medication schedule so everything feels familiar and comfortable for them. “Megan did a great job taking care of our menagerie of pets! I liked seeing their pictures every day while we were out of town. Even our most shy cat came out of hiding to meet her!”

About: I am a patient, caring, flexible, and outgoing person. I love the outdoors as well as animals of all sorts and sizes. I have grown up with a passion for being around animals and would enjoy the opportunity to be able to help others and their dogs to get the best possible care for them. I currently have experience with small dogs and am very comfortable with all age ranges from puppy's to older dogs who may need extra attention. I would consider myself a high energy person which I think is important when it comes to dealing with dogs. Willing to go the extra mile for the owner as well as their furry friend(s) to ensure that everyone is happy by the end of each day.
“Had a wonderful meet and greet with Brandon for my pup. Brandon was great in communication and just a joy to meet. Very obvious he loves dogs and takes this work seriously, which makes me less nervous to welcome someone new into our fold for the care of my big man 🐶. Booked for a walk and really appreciated the notes and special care of my dog and home during intimate weather. 10/10 ⭐️”

Cassidy took excellent care of my two cats while we were out of town. She followed all care instructions, gave them their medications, helped with packages, and even put the cat furniture back into place after the cleaners came by. We look forward to booking Cassidy again soon!

We've trusted John with the care of our 17-year-old Shih tzu-Poodle for over a year now, and he's become our go-to choice whenever we travel. He's consistently reliable and punctual, and he never cuts corners—he always stays for the full 30-minute visit, giving our beloved pet the attention she deserves. What really sets him apart is his attention to detail: he sends us pictures after every visit, which has become the highlight of our days while we're away. Knowing our girl is in such caring hands brings us complete peace of mind. We can't recommend John highly enough, and we're grateful to have found such a trustworthy pet sitter.

We were super worried at first because it’s always hard to leave our dogs with someone else, but she quickly made us feel comfortable and reassured. She was very reliable, kind, and understanding, and we could tell that she genuinely cared about our dogs. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were in good hands while we were away. We really appreciated everything she did and would definitely trust her to take care of our dogs again.

Abigail took care of my 2 aging fur babies for several days. I couldn't be happier when I saw the daily photos of my female cat being social with Abigail!!! My female cat is normally very standoffish with strangers, but not with Abigail. Animals know when a person is good, and they loved her! My fur babies give Abigail 5+ Stars. I will definitely schedule with Abigail again. :)

Marti took wonderful care of my dog, Waffles, while he was recovering from surgery this week. Handing over care during recovery can be stressful, but Marti put us completely at ease. She is incredibly responsive, communicates clearly, and is fantastic with animals. We are so grateful for her help and highly recommend her to anyone!

Jen was absolutely amazing. She paid so much attention to our kitties, making sure she spent a lot of time with them so they weren't as lonely while we were gone. She was understanding and compassionate when they were acting out and leaving messes on our rugs, she cleaned it and remediated it as well as gave me advice for how to ensure they wouldn't do it again. We are SO grateful for her care and expertise and highly recommend her to anyone who wants to make sure their animals are loved and cared for! Thank you, Jen!
Fantastic as always. Being away from our furbabies is always hard but knowing Cliff is watching them is one less stressor off our checklist while we're away from our boys. We know they are well taken care of and loved. Cliff communicates beautifully and sends updates with each check-in with loads of pics and notes. Highly recommend like always! If you want your furbabies well taken care of, choose Cliff! Thanks Cliff!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
