Pet care is our full-time lifestyle. After more than 12 years of professional boarding and daycare, we've built our daily routine around the dogs in our care. From morning potty breaks and supervised play to walks, rest time, and evening cuddles, every dog receives consistent attention, structure, and personalized care throughout the day. Nothing makes us happier than seeing a nervous first-time guest settle in, make friends, and start playing confidently in our backyard.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety and trust are at the heart of everything I do. Over more than a decade of hosting dogs full-time (and over 38 years of caring for dogs personally), I've developed a thoughtful routine that helps every guest settle in safely and comfortably. Meet & Greet First Every new dog—whether coming for a single daycare visit or an extended boarding stay—starts with a Meet & Greet. This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other before the first stay. I'll learn about your dog's personality, daily routine, medical history, feeding habits, training, and any behavioral concerns, while also explaining how our home operates. During the visit, I observe how your dog responds to me, my dog, and the environment to make sure we're a good fit for each other. For dogs that are new to Rover, have never stayed away from home, or are preparing for a longer boarding stay, I strongly recommend a gradual transition: first a daycare visit, then an overnight stay, before longer boarding whenever possible. This helps reduce stress and allows your dog to build confidence in a familiar environment. I believe a successful stay begins long before check-in. Taking the time to understand each dog as an individual allows me to provide safer, more personalized care and helps ensure that both dogs and their families feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning. Safe Feeding Routine Every dog is fed separately to prevent food guarding, accidental food swapping, and digestive upset caused by eating another dog's food. This also creates a calmer and more relaxed mealtime experience. Preparation Before Every Stay Before your dog's visit, I'll send a preparation checklist to help everything go smoothly. This includes current vaccination records, veterinarian and emergency contact information, feeding instructions, medications (if needed), and ensuring your dog arrives wearing a secure collar with identification tags and a properly fitted harness. Extra Safety on Walks During walks, I attach the leash to both the collar and the harness whenever appropriate, providing an extra layer of security and reducing the chance of accidental escapes. Supervised Play at All Times Dogs stay on the main floor of our home, where they have plenty of room to relax, socialize, and play. One of the things families love most is our large fenced backyard that backs directly onto the woods near Seneca Creek State Park. The yard offers plenty of room to run, explore, sniff, and relax in both sun and shade throughout the day. Dogs are never left unattended outdoors. I supervise backyard play at all times, introduce new dogs gradually based on their size, temperament, and play style, and carefully monitor group interactions to keep play safe, positive, and enjoyable for everyone. Over the years, I've continued refining my home setup and daily routines based on experience. Every adjustment I've made has been with one goal in mind: creating a safe, low-stress, home-away-from-home where dogs feel secure, have fun, and are treated like members of the family.

Information Sophia C. would like to know about your pet
I believe every dog is an individual, so I like to learn as much as possible before their stay. Please tell me about your dog's personality, daily schedule, feeding routine, energy level, favorite games, training cues or commands, experience with other dogs, and any medical needs or behavioral quirks. I also wanted to know what makes them happy, what makes them nervous, and how they interact with people and other dogs. The more you share, the better I can tailor their care, reduce stress, and help them settle into our home as if they've been here before. There are no "bad" answers—honest communication helps me create the safest and most enjoyable experience for every dog in my care.
A typical day
There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule here. Every dog has a different personality, and I tailor each day to help them feel safe, engaged, and at home. Every day is designed to balance exercise, socialization, rest, and plenty of individual attention. After morning potty breaks and breakfast, dogs enjoy supervised indoor and outdoor play with carefully matched companions based on their size, temperament, and play style. Throughout the day, we keep them engaged with games like tug-of-war, fetch, treat times, and plenty of opportunities to explore our large fenced backyard. Just as importantly, we make sure every dog has time to relax, nap, and recharge in a calm home environment. I live in a very dog-friendly community, and weather and schedule permitting, we also enjoy walks around the neighborhood or visits to nearby parks. Some dogs especially love exploring the trails and natural surroundings near Seneca Creek State Park. Every dog is different, so I adjust activities to match each guest's age, energy level, and personality. Whether your pup loves to play all day or prefers a quiet spot to watch the action, they'll receive personalized care and attention that helps them feel comfortable and at home.

Pet care experience
I've been sharing my life with dogs for nearly 40 years and have provided full-time professional dog boarding and daycare with 92% repeat customer rate since 2014. Caring for dogs isn't just my job—it's been a lifelong passion. What sets me apart is not only my experience, but also my commitment to providing a true home environment. I keep a small, carefully managed group so every dog receives plenty of attention, exercise, supervision, and affection. My husband and I are home full-time, so your dog is rarely left alone and is treated like part of our family. Over the past 12 years, I've cared for hundreds of dogs with different personalities, energy levels, and routines. I'm experienced in introducing new dogs into a group, recognizing stress signals early, managing play safely, administering oral and topical medications, and adapting to each dog's individual needs. My 92% repeat customer rate reflects the trust families place in us. Many of my clients have stayed with us for years, and I've had the privilege of watching their puppies grow into seniors. While I welcome healthy dogs of all ages, I focus on providing a safe, low-stress environment where every guest can relax, play, and feel at home. My goal has always been simple: to care for every dog as if they were my own, so their families can travel with complete peace of mind.
Reviews

We have used Sophia twice now for daytime services and each time, our dog came home safe and happy. It's obvious Sophia has a lot of experience with pet care and gives me confidence in her ability to keep our dog happy. Sophia responds quickly to texts and provides pictures. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sophia to any pet parent. In fact, we already have Sophia booked for a long term stay while we go on vacation.

Sophia is very responsive and our shihpoo Georgie is always happy to see her. She keeps in touch with daily photos and Georgie looks happy at her home socializing with other dogs. We look forward to seeing Sophia again next time!

We are repeat customers and happy to give another excellent review for Sophia. She took wonderful care of Chester - our small spaniel - even when he got unexpectedly sick for a few days during a long stay. We highly recommend her to care for your dog as if he were her own.

We are repeat bookers with Sophia and our chihuahua loves staying there! Great communication and flexible pick up and drop off.
