Mandisa was amazing with our 3 pups, from meeting them on their own different energy levels during the meet n greet, to making them as comfy and chill as possible in our absence. She handled meds no problem and sent us plenty of updates. Can't recommend Mandisa enough :)

Aileen did an amazing job taking care of Dolly! She took the time to learn Dolly’s habits and preferences, and Dolly was immediately at ease with her. We felt completely comfortable leaving for the evening knowing Dolly was in her care. Aileen was communicative, kind, and incredibly easy to work with—we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

We couldn’t be more thankful for Suzy who came in on an extremely short notice situation when our normal sitter wasn’t able to make it. She was amazing with our puppy and just an amazing person and a truly nice and caring addition to our puppies small little world. We will most certainly be having her back into our home to take care of our little guy diesel. We are so looking forward to booking with Suzy again and wish we could give her six stars. Also her communication was excellent within five minutes of submitting a request she called and we talked on the phone and she made me feel comfortable and safe with her in our home and with our fur baby.

About: I have 4 dogs. I always stay behind on family vacations to watch them. I also make sure that they are fed on time, taking care of their medical needs and always put their needs before mine. I don't see dogs as pets but as part of the family. I work part-time at the best Western on Benicia. I at the moment only work afternoon/ evening shifts. So I always get up 5 am every day making sure I get my dogs needs fulfilled before mine. I have a lot of free time in the morning since I take online course at solano community college. I have a fenced in yard. My dogs were not socialized with other dogs in their puppy years. Because of that I always make sure of my surroundings at all times. I also understand breed bias as well since 1 of them is a Rottweiler german shepherd mixed. Again I always make sure that I treat dogs that I take care of as if they were mine.

We especially appreciated all of the photo updates throughout our trip—they made it so much easier to relax knowing our girls were happy and doing well. Thank you for taking such great care of them! We wouldn’t hesitate to book with you again and highly recommend Xaniah to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter.

About: I have worked at a dog daycare for 12 years and I have learned so much about dog body language and dog care and safety. I have previously worked at a dog shelter for even more knowledge and care. I have owned dogs and cats my entire life and I can’t imagine my life without companion animals. I am currently only working for two days out of the week. I will have plenty of times to spend with other peoples companions. I love to help out and I love animals. At home I have a decent size fenced in backyard. I have a dog and cat friendly dog if yours would like a companion. If not that is not a problem at all. I do own three cats but they have their own bedroom just in case your fur baby isn’t fawned of cats. I have plenty of dog beds, blankets, couches and I big dog crate just in case. I also have basic first aid for fur babies.

She also left the house tidy and everything in order. We’ll definitely contact her to stay here again on our next trip. Thanks Vivian

She kept us updated and gave us real peace of mind knowing Freya was in great hands. It’s obvious she genuinely cares, and that made all the difference. We’d absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable and attentive.

About: I have had pets all my life and have a special way with many animals. From tiring out restless pups through play so they can settle in their doghouses, to gaining the trust of the sassiest cats, my patience and kindness towards all animals has gained me the favor of friends and family to care for their pets. I am currently a full time student, so my availability throughout the week can vary. Despite this I find myself to have my afternoons and evenings mostly free. Additionally, my weekends will be free most weeks. In a cliients home, I would do my best to respect the environment and the pets space. Not surprising the pet or adjusting things from their usual place, like food or water bowls, to show I am not here to change pet routines but just to help them along. Additionally, gaining trust on walks and setting firm boundaries with the pet to keep myself and the pet safe when out and about.

About: I offer calm, personalized care in a quiet home where your dog is treated like family, not one of many in a busy boarding facility or a home with multiple dogs. I typically host one household at a time, so your dog gets my full attention, genuine affection, and all the cuddles they can handle. My home is the right fit for friendly dogs who love companionship, walks, and settling into a peaceful routine. I'm especially drawn to dogs who thrive with one-on-one attention rather than the noise and energy of a busy multi-dog environment. I'm certified in Pet CPR, Healing Touch for Animals, and Reiki. And beyond the credentials, I'm deeply attuned to each dog's personality and energy. That attunement is what helps them settle in quickly and feel genuinely at ease. My connection to animals runs deep. I spent five years volunteering at Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, working in both the mammal department and wildlife hospital with injured and recovering animals. That experience sharpened my understanding of animal behavior and reinforced something I already believed: animals feel safety before they understand it. My goal is always to create that feeling from the moment your dog arrives! Because I work from home, pets in my care are rarely left alone for long periods and receive plenty of attention, walks, and companionship throughout the day. When pets stay in my home, they become part of a calm and comfortable daily routine. I primarily host dogs from 1 household at a time so each pet receives plenty of individual attention. Dogs here enjoy daily walks, playtime, and relaxed downtime, and I’m home much of the day since I work from home. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality and needs so they feel safe and settled. For drop-in visits or walks in a client’s home, I follow the pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, walks, litter care for cats, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to send photo updates so owners know their pets are doing well.

About: I’ve been caring for my family rescue pitbull for 10 years. This experience has provided me experience with bigger dogs, senior dogs, and dogs that are reactive and prefer to avoid other dogs on walks. Dogs and cats bring me immense joy, and my goal is to be such love and care to the pets, but also respect to the pet and their owners. Looking forward to working with you all! I’m currently a master’s student, who has a few days off a week! My schedule will become even more free with my academic winter and summer break! I can check on your pets in the am, mid day, and evening! While taking care of pets in others homes, I will be sure to respect the owner's boundaries. I will never touch anything in the house that is off limits. I will be attentive with your dogs needs and give them love.

If you get the opportunity to book any service with Maikala, JUMP ON IT!! She was an overnight house/pet sitter for our 2 senior doggies for two weeks and I can't tell you the relief I felt after our meet & greet knowing our fur babies and house were in such EXCELLENT hands the whole 2 weeks we were away. One of our dogs is basically blind and deaf, both need daily oral meds, and the other one needs eye drops 3x/day. She handled all of that with ease on top of giving our pups lots of snuggles, walks and love. I'm pretty sure they were bummed to see us come home and her leave them (kidding, not kidding). She also sent videos, photos, and check-in texts throughout our vacation to continue to give us peace of mind. When an issue came up with the dogs getting into a little scuffle, she calmly handled the situation and appropriately contacted me; I appreciated her judgment in the moment. On top of all this, Maikala also took care of our fish, turtles, plants, garbage, mail and even unloaded our Instacart grocery bags on our last day away so we would have food when we got home! She is kind and trustworthy, warm yet professional. You can tell she really desires to provide the best care she can. Her services were worth every penny and we are definitely booking her for our next vacation!

Eliana is fantastic. We had a change in plans at the last minute and she was very flexible. She kept us updated and sent Photos throughout the time she was taking care of our dog. Our dog is a bit quirky to say the least, and she took care of him very well… And to top it off, our house was cleaner than when we left. I highly recommend Eliana!

Ella was excellent! Our dog was shy getting to know her but she came for multiple walks prior to our trip so they could get to know each other. Ella sent updates and pictures regularly to let us know things were going well with both animals and followed all our instructions. FAQs for House Sitting - Carquinez Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Carquinez Heights on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 7,783 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carquinez Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carquinez Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carquinez Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carquinez Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carquinez Heights. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
