“Fiona was great with nightly updates and pictures of our pups. She even made sure to leave our house in excellent shape when she left. We look forward to booking with her again.”

“Tracy was a great pet sitter for our dog while we were away for a long weekend. She was respectful of our home and kept the place just as we'd left it. She accommodated all of our scheduling and pet care requests and communicated with us well all through our trip. Our dog was well cared for and happy when we returned home. We would gladly recommend Tracy to our friends and book her again! Thank you Tracy!”

“Isaiah was amazing with our 2 huskies. My husband and I were pretty stressed this week because we had a medical procedure happening in the family and one of our huskies wearing a cone and needing some extra care due to an injured paw 🐾❤️🩹 Isaiah replied instantly, we had to change the duration of the booking last minute and he was there to help us and make things easier. Will DEFINITELY 💯 % reach out to him again. Very good impression, very professional. THANK YOU Isaiah!”

“We are so happy to have found Vivian! After a recent medical issue, one of our cats now needs more supervision than our previous cat sitter could offer. We were worried about finding someone we would feel comfortable with for our first trip away since dealing with this issue. Vivian was super responsive throughout the booking and meet and greet stage. Both of our cats seemed very comfortable around her! We got many cute photos and updates while we were away. When we came back, both cats were happy and at ease. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a new cat sitter!”

About: I'm excited to meet new pets and their people! While I'm new to Rover, I'm not new to caring for animals. I have over 20 years of professional experience caring for pets and homes, along with a lifetime of loving animals of my own. Animals have been part of my life since childhood. I've cared for dogs of every size, age, and personality, as well as cats, birds, and other small animals. Most recently, I spent four years living in Hawaii with my own dog, cat, and bird, and have cared for pets throughout the Bay Area, including Marin, San Francisco, Oakland, Contra Costa, and Napa. I'm an outdoor enthusiast who loves mountain biking, hiking, camping, and exploring nature. If your dog enjoys adventure and you're comfortable with it, I'm happy to include longer walks or outdoor adventures tailored to their energy level. I enjoy keeping active dogs both physically and mentally engaged, while always respecting each pet's individual needs and routine. During COVID, while my massage therapy practice was on pause, I got a certification in canine massage, deepening my understanding of canine anatomy, mobility, and comfort. This experience has been especially valuable when caring for senior dogs, anxious pets, and those who benefit from right amount of exercise and a calm, gentle touch. Every pet is different, and I take pride in carefully following your instructions so they feel safe, loved, and at home while you're away. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your beloved companion is receiving attentive, experienced care. I've always believed animals are some of life's greatest gifts. To me, they are like guardian angels on Earth. They teach us unconditional love, presence, and joy. It's a privilege to earn their trust and care for them as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily life. I currently work part-time with a flexible schedule, which allows me to plan my work around the pets I'm caring for whenever possible. I intentionally limit my commitments so I can provide each pet with the time, attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply keeping their normal routine, I'm happy to adapt my schedule to meet their needs. I understand that consistency helps pets feel safe and comfortable while you're away, and I strive to make their time with me feel as familiar and stress-free as possible. Clear communication is important to me, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, loved, and well cared for. Every pet is unique, so I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and preferences before you leave. I carefully follow your instructions regarding feeding, medications, exercise, favorite walking routes, sleeping arrangements, and any special needs to help your pet feel safe and comfortable. Whether your companion enjoys long walks and outdoor adventures, playtime, enrichment activities, or simply relaxing on the couch, I tailor my care to what makes them happiest. I believe consistency and patience help pets feel secure while their family is away.
“Virgina is very sweet and communicated well with us throughout her three week stay at our home with our dog Louie. She took great care of our beloved dog and home. He has meds and specific diet which she followed at our request. She also took him on lots of walks. The home was clean and tidy before we arrived home. I definitely will use her services again and recommend her for any help you may need.”

“Our dogs were well and happy when we returned from our trip. Gabby was very friendly and most importantly she was very responsive! She replied in a timely manner to our inquiries and even bought dog food when we ran out. I would definitely recommend her as a house/ dog sitter.”
“Fuliang was amazing! He responded right away and quickly scheduled a meet & greet. He was prompt, took great care of Hampton, and left our place spotless. We felt comfortable and updated the whole time. Highly recommend!”

“Katelynn was an excellent petsitter for my dog Enzo, she sent us daily pictures, which gave us a peace of mind, and I knew Enzo was very well cared for. I recommend Katelynn completely.”

“This was our first experience with Rover, and we are very pleased with Patti. She loves kitties, which became clear when they met her. Patti is caring, responsible, prompt, attentive and knowledgeable regarding caring for pets while away. She bonded quickly with our oldest cat Ada who cuddled with her at night and maintained the distance between Ada and the other two young kitties Jack and Maya as requested. She paid attention to the instructions we left for her to follow, and helped us feel confident in our selection, especially with photos. We are totally pleased with Patti and the wonderful care she provided. We look forward to the opportunity to use her services in the future.”

“Amanda did a great job caring for my two old ladies and taking care of my home. I felt very comfortable having her in my home. She kept in touch while I was away, kept my plants alive, left my house clean, and my girls were happy!”

“Mandisa took great care of our little terrier, Luna (who can be a handful some times). I especially appreciated her responsiveness and professionalism throughout the process, which provided such peace of mind, and the notes she left afterward, which were super helpful for managing an issue Luna's been having lately, where she gets so excited by the neighborhood cats that she forgets to potty when you take her outside. Ah, terriers. We look forward to booking with Mandisa agin.”

About: Hi! I'm Carly. After spending the last 15 years supporting executives in the tech industry, I'm taking some time to figure out what's next and focus on what I truly love -- animals. I've been around animals my entire life, stay involved with local rescue and fostering, and today I have several rescue dogs of my own. I'm available to travel, am reliable, organized, and take pride in being someone people can count on. Whether I'm caring for your family pets, your home, or both, my goal is to make your time away as worry-free as possible. I look forward to connecting! ⌂ 🐾 I'm currently taking time to figure out what's next for me professionally after spending the last 15 years working in tech. I have an extremely flexible schedule and ability to travel right now, and would love to be part of making sure your animals are taken care of in a way that works for you (walks, hikes, house hangs, etc). My home has a very large fenced in yard that my own dogs go wild in each day. I make sure all animals feel loved, are stimulated, and get whatever it is they need.
“We have two pretty high strung boys (1 of which is an 8 month old German shepherd pup) and Alan was well up to the task of sitting for them during a recent oversees trip. The dogs took to Alan immediately and we came home to a clean house and happy dogs. Alan checked in frequently and we felt very confident they were being well cared for. We will happily book Alan again in the future!”

“We couldn’t be more thankful for Suzy who came in on an extremely short notice situation when our normal sitter wasn’t able to make it. She was amazing with our puppy and just an amazing person and a truly nice and caring addition to our puppies small little world. We will most certainly be having her back into our home to take care of our little guy diesel. We are so looking forward to booking with Suzy again and wish we could give her six stars. Also her communication was excellent within five minutes of submitting a request she called and we talked on the phone and she made me feel comfortable and safe with her in our home and with our fur baby.”

About: I offer calm, personalized care in a quiet home where your dog is treated like family, not one of many in a busy boarding facility or a home with multiple dogs. I typically host one household at a time, so your dog gets my full attention, genuine affection, and all the cuddles they can handle. My home is the right fit for friendly dogs who love companionship, walks, and settling into a peaceful routine. I'm especially drawn to dogs who thrive with one-on-one attention rather than the noise and energy of a busy multi-dog environment. I'm certified in Pet CPR, Healing Touch for Animals, and Reiki. And beyond the credentials, I'm deeply attuned to each dog's personality and energy. That attunement is what helps them settle in quickly and feel genuinely at ease. My connection to animals runs deep. I spent five years volunteering at Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, working in both the mammal department and wildlife hospital with injured and recovering animals. That experience sharpened my understanding of animal behavior and reinforced something I already believed: animals feel safety before they understand it. My goal is always to create that feeling from the moment your dog arrives! Because I work from home, pets in my care are rarely left alone for long periods and receive plenty of attention, walks, and companionship throughout the day. When pets stay in my home, they become part of a calm and comfortable daily routine. I primarily host dogs from 1 household at a time so each pet receives plenty of individual attention. Dogs here enjoy daily walks, playtime, and relaxed downtime, and I’m home much of the day since I work from home. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality and needs so they feel safe and settled. For drop-in visits or walks in a client’s home, I follow the pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, walks, litter care for cats, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to send photo updates so owners know their pets are doing well.
“Jessica is a true animal lover who puts so much care and attention into her work, treating your pets as if they were her own. She took care of my dog and two cats for almost a week while I was out of town and I got frequent updates and came home to very happy animals! It’s also clear in talking with her that she has a wide range of animal experience, not just dogs and cats. Highly recommend and grateful to have found someone who I know will take excellent care of my pets.”

“Wow! What an incredible sitter Hong was. This is the first time I have ever been away from my fur babies and not worried once. She was so communicative the entire time and I came back to happy dogs and a pristine house. If I could give her 10 stars I would! Thank you again Hong. ❤️”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Port Costa
Natalie stayed with our two dogs for two weeks in our home in Benicia. We had plenty of time prior to her house/dog sitting to have her come and go for walks with both dogs and learn their routines here at home. I really appreciated her willingness to prepare like that, given how long we were to be away. Natalie is kind and gentle with our girls and they warmed right up to her with trust and affection. We entrusted her with our entire home and use of our bikes even --- she was very careful and responsible with everything, leaving the house very tidy and clean with sheets changed and laundered. We would definitely recommend Natalie to others!

Derek was amazing!! Booking him was last minute for us, yet he let us feel at ease with quick responses. He was very communicative and kind. It took my two babies time to adjust, but he was patient and at the end they loved him! He sent so many photos and videos and we would absolutely book with him again!!

Ella was excellent! Our dog was shy getting to know her but she came for multiple walks prior to our trip so they could get to know each other. She was kind and patient each time letting our dog go at her own pace. Ella sent updates and pictures regularly to let us know things were going well with both animals and followed all our instructions. (I'm also pretty sure the house was cleaner than when we left as well!) We will absolutely be hiring Ella again in the future, thank you for your care!

Alyssa was very responsive all the way from when we first reached out to when we had her watch our dog for 3 nights in our home. She was considerate to our energetic dog when we did a meet n greet before scheduling her. She was a super sitter and we look forward to working with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Costa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Costa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Costa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Port Costa. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
