About: I have had pets all my life and have a special way with many animals. From tiring out restless pups through play so they can settle in their doghouses, to gaining the trust of the sassiest cats, my patience and kindness towards all animals has gained me the favor of friends and family to care for their pets. I am currently a full time student, so my availability throughout the week can vary. Despite this I find myself to have my afternoons and evenings mostly free. Additionally, my weekends will be free most weeks. In a cliients home, I would do my best to respect the environment and the pets space. Not surprising the pet or adjusting things from their usual place, like food or water bowls, to show I am not here to change pet routines but just to help them along. Additionally, gaining trust on walks and setting firm boundaries with the pet to keep myself and the pet safe when out and about.
“She was amazing and very attentive to my dog Z. I really appreciate that she went above and beyond to play with and gave him lots of cuddles while I was gone. I’ll definitely ask for her to help again. Best experience I’ve had on Rover. 🐾”

“Adam was amazing with Sammy! He sent us reports and pictures of his visits every time and let us know Sammy took his medication well with him. Sammy was a little shy at first but they were buddies after a few days. We will definitely hire Adam again when we need someone to take care of Sammy in the future.”

“Saylor is really great with my puppy, he truly enjoy his time with her. She is responsive and communicate well. I want to gatekeep her but she is very good! Would definitely recommend her to everyone else!”

“Nancy was absolutely amazing, kind, and timely. We were stressing about having to leave our new puppy with a stranger for the day but Nancy's overall demeanor even before we booked her made us realize Baxter would be in great hands. Highly recommend!”

“Thank you very much Amber for looking after us while our mom was on vacation. We felt comfortable with Amber & she was so kind, gentle, supportive & didn’t let our separation anxiety get the best of us . Hugs 🥰, Boba & Meiko 🐈🐈⬛”

“Isaiah did a great job checking in on my two cats over a long weekend! He was very communicative, reliable, and my cats seemed to warm up to him quickly! I will definitely plan to use Isaiah again in the future.”

About: I have loved animals since I first learned what an animal was and 27 years into life I haven't stopped! I have 7+ years of dog/cat/house sitting experience and I can administer medications if needed, along with taking care of other typical pet sitting tasks such as feeding, walking, playing, bathing, and of course, offering lots of affection and pets! Currently I’m in school (mostly online) for pre vet-med and working just as a pet sitter so I have plenty of free time to watch over your fur babies! :) I am always willing to personalize my services to best conform to your pets' medical, physical, and emotional well-being, just let me know what specific needs your pet(s) have and I will cater to them!
“So happy we found Merlette! We needed help last minute and she was so quick to respond and had great communication through the entire weekend! Our dog was happy and well taken care of! We will definitely be using Merlette again!”

“Emma was wonderful and she was able to help me last minute. She keep me updated on my pet daily and even when my pet chewed through her harness she offered and did get a new harness. I am very grateful that you were able to care for our River.”

About: Previously owned and trained our family dog until his passing some years ago. I have birds, fish, and have been caring for family friends' dogs. I am currently willing to help, care, and walk your dogs. A great way to fill in the time as I stay home, go to school, and improve life as to looking forward to care for your dog. My dog was fed a mix of wet and dry food, water bowl always full, and daily drive/park/play/walks/hikes (regarding the weather at the current moment of time).
“Another great vacation with pups and our home very well cared for by Megan. She really went above and beyond this trip. Megan is responsible, flexible, compassionate, and trustworthy- everything you would want in someone who cares for your home and pets when you aren't there.”

About: I have worked at 2 dog facilities, The Meadows Canine Camp in Santa Rosa and I currently work at the Milo Foundation where I walk and adopt out dogs. I currently have a foster named Grayson (boxer) who is good with small dogs. I love animals and I am very qualified to take care of your pet while you are away. Cant wait to meet them! I work at the Milo Foundation in point Richmond Wednesday-Sunday. Your dog would need to be ok for 8hrs alone on those days or if they are small I can take them with me to work. Before and after work would be dedicated time spent with your pet and I am off on Mondays and Tuesdays. While walking, your pets safety is my number one priority and I will make sure to walk in areas deemed appropriate by clients. Having dogs of my own, I understand the importance on keeping them safe when out. I also like to use a harnesses when walking to avoid a dogs collar slipping and possibility of getting loose.
About: I offer calm, personalized care in a quiet home where your dog is treated like family, not one of many in a busy boarding facility or a home with multiple dogs. I typically host one household at a time, so your dog gets my full attention, genuine affection, and all the cuddles they can handle. My home is the right fit for friendly dogs who love companionship, walks, and settling into a peaceful routine. I'm especially drawn to dogs who thrive with one-on-one attention rather than the noise and energy of a busy multi-dog environment. I'm certified in Pet CPR, Healing Touch for Animals, and Reiki. And beyond the credentials, I'm deeply attuned to each dog's personality and energy. That attunement is what helps them settle in quickly and feel genuinely at ease. My connection to animals runs deep. I spent five years volunteering at Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, working in both the mammal department and wildlife hospital with injured and recovering animals. That experience sharpened my understanding of animal behavior and reinforced something I already believed: animals feel safety before they understand it. My goal is always to create that feeling from the moment your dog arrives! Because I work from home, pets in my care are rarely left alone for long periods and receive plenty of attention, walks, and companionship throughout the day. When pets stay in my home, they become part of a calm and comfortable daily routine. I primarily host dogs from 1 household at a time so each pet receives plenty of individual attention. Dogs here enjoy daily walks, playtime, and relaxed downtime, and I’m home much of the day since I work from home. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality and needs so they feel safe and settled. For drop-in visits or walks in a client’s home, I follow the pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, walks, litter care for cats, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to send photo updates so owners know their pets are doing well.

I treat every pet in my care as if they were my own. I look forward to providing a safe, loving and dependable experience for both you and your pets! :) I currently am in the process of getting my undergraduate degree and on the side walking and sitting in on dogs and cats. I am able to work when it fits in my schedule and being around animals brings me much joy. In a clients home, I follow their directions strictly and hope to follow through on everything they request of me. It is the upmost importance to me that I am respectful in someone else’s home.
About: I have been a dog walker/sitter for 3 years officially. I quit my job to do this full time. Dogs are my favorite thing in this world! I will care for them as if they are my own. I’ve yet to meet a pup that hasn’t liked me. I will protect you’re pup at all cost and always make sure they have the best time when they are with me! Im already a dog walker all morning with my regular clients. So later in the day is when I have availability. I do have a few spots in the mornings though. I have a fenced in back yard and have hosted many pups at my house! And in the summer they can swim if they like water!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Port Costa
Thea has been cat sitting for my family for 2-3 years on Rover, whenever we go out of town. When we come home, the cats are always perfectly taken care of, and just mildly annoyed and dramatic, as you’d expect cats to be :) Thea is always super responsive and we trust her completely in our home.

Telena has watched our shy kitty only twice, but has somehow managed to bring her out of her shell!! It normally takes our cat a long time before she warms up to people and she will usually just hide the whole time. But this time she came out and hung out with Telena which is so cool to see! Telena is super patient and kind with our cat, and very responsive while we’re out of town. I highly recommend her services !! Thanks Telena !!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Port Costa. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
