“Fiona took wonderful care of our home and senior dog. She made sure to provide daily updates with pictures and left our house immaculate. I would recommend her to anyone needing pet services and plan on using her services moving forward.”

“Mandisa was amazing with our 3 pups, from meeting them on their own different energy levels during the meet n greet, to making them as comfy and chill as possible in our absence. She handled meds no problem and sent us plenty of updates. Can't recommend Mandisa enough :)”

“Katelynn was an excellent petsitter for my dog Enzo, she sent us daily pictures, which gave us a peace of mind, and I knew Enzo was very well cared for. I recommend Katelynn completely.”

“We couldn’t be more thankful for Suzy who came in on an extremely short notice situation when our normal sitter wasn’t able to make it. She was amazing with our puppy and just an amazing person and a truly nice and caring addition to our puppies small little world. We will most certainly be having her back into our home to take care of our little guy diesel. We are so looking forward to booking with Suzy again and wish we could give her six stars. Also her communication was excellent within five minutes of submitting a request she called and we talked on the phone and she made me feel comfortable and safe with her in our home and with our fur baby.”

“Vivian, was thoughtful,, reliable and resourceful on a long house-sit with our two dogs (who are an absolute handful) and sweet kitty. Especially love how she stayed in touch and sent lots of pics. Can't wait to book her again.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life. I love animals more than anything and think doing something like this is a perfect fit for me. Im currently mostly free, I don’t start classes up again until spring of next year:) anytime throughout the day/evening just need to know before hand. Just would like clear communication and respect on both ends of course, I’d say I’m pretty understanding and willing to make change if ever needed.
About: I have taken care of pets for over 10 years around the world! Neighbors, friends, families and acquaintances have all trusted me with the livelihoods of their loved ones. I can administer medication, go on as many walks as needed, drive or walk to the dog park or just cuddle on the sofa if you pet loves that too! I work as a school teacher and am an online grad student but am able to come and go as I please so my schedule is quite flexible! I am very mindful of your pets care, safety and security while they are in my trust. I can crate your pet, calm them down and care for them as per your instruction.

About: I have 4 dogs. I always stay behind on family vacations to watch them. I also make sure that they are fed on time, taking care of their medical needs and always put their needs before mine. I don't see dogs as pets but as part of the family. I work part-time at the best Western on Benicia. I at the moment only work afternoon/ evening shifts. So I always get up 5 am every day making sure I get my dogs needs fulfilled before mine. I have a lot of free time in the morning since I take online course at solano community college. I have a fenced in yard. My dogs were not socialized with other dogs in their puppy years. Because of that I always make sure of my surroundings at all times. I also understand breed bias as well since 1 of them is a Rottweiler german shepherd mixed. Again I always make sure that I treat dogs that I take care of as if they were mine.
“Alleen helped keep our kitties safe and happy while we were out of town. It’s not always easy to find someone you can trust with your home and your fur-babies, but Alleen is definitely someone we would love to welcome back in the future.”

“I returned to find my cat 20-25% less petty and vindictive than when I have returned from trips with an average sitter. No shredded shoes, no "draping" on the litter-box. Daniel does sitting well.”

“Fuliang was amazing! He responded right away and quickly scheduled a meet & greet. He was prompt, took great care of Hampton, and left our place spotless. We felt comfortable and updated the whole time. Highly recommend!”

About: I believe every animal deserves patience and love. They tell you what they need when you know what to look for and give them the opportunity to express themselves. I grew up with many pets and have experience caring for all kinds of dogs and cats. I have cared for puppies, senior animals, and everything in between. I'm currently exclusively a pet-sitter and have no pets of my own, so I can give my undivided attention to your animals. When I start part-time classes Monday-Thursday in the fall, I will still be available after class and over the weekends. I maintain a calm environment and provide exercise, play time, and cuddles for every pet. I love walking dogs around their neighborhoods and taking them to the park or the beach. I follow feeding schedules and other care instructions and have experience with crate-training and separation anxiety.
About: I have had pets all my life and have a special way with many animals. From tiring out restless pups through play so they can settle in their doghouses, to gaining the trust of the sassiest cats, my patience and kindness towards all animals has gained me the favor of friends and family to care for their pets. I am currently a full time student, so my availability throughout the week can vary. Despite this I find myself to have my afternoons and evenings mostly free. Additionally, my weekends will be free most weeks. In a cliients home, I would do my best to respect the environment and the pets space. Not surprising the pet or adjusting things from their usual place, like food or water bowls, to show I am not here to change pet routines but just to help them along. Additionally, gaining trust on walks and setting firm boundaries with the pet to keep myself and the pet safe when out and about.
“Tania did a great job taking care of our senior pup who suffers from separation anxiety and doesn’t like to take her meds. Tania was prompt, easy to communicate with before and during her stay, sent lots of pictures, and left our house immaculate. We will definitely use her again.”

About: I’ve been dog sitting for years now I treat the dogs like their my dogs giving all the love and attention they need while the owners are away I work for the VCUSD so I try to make it work the best I can during the school year but in the summer I’m free I always try to keep an eye on the pets and check on them every so often I try to give them as much attention and play time as I can throughout the day

“Natalie stayed with our two dogs for two weeks in our home in Benicia. We had plenty of time prior to her house/dog sitting to have her come and go for walks with both dogs and learn their routines here at home. I really appreciated her willingness to prepare like that, given how long we were to be away. Natalie is kind and gentle with our girls and they warmed right up to her with trust and affection. We entrusted her with our entire home and use of our bikes even --- she was very careful and responsible with everything, leaving the house very tidy and clean with sheets changed and laundered. We would definitely recommend Natalie to others!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Selby is $75
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Selby
Suzy was such a blessing. She came on short notice and took excellent care of our dogs. One of them experienced a health issue while we were gone and Suzy helped us navigate the issue keeping us updated and reassured and helped to resolve the issue. I didn’t worry because Suzy was taking such good care. She gave lots of updates and sent little videos and pictures. We are very grateful.

Ella was excellent! Our dog was shy getting to know her but she came for multiple walks prior to our trip so they could get to know each other. She was kind and patient each time letting our dog go at her own pace. Ella sent updates and pictures regularly to let us know things were going well with both animals and followed all our instructions. (I'm also pretty sure the house was cleaner than when we left as well!) We will absolutely be hiring Ella again in the future, thank you for your care!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 7,853 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Selby. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Selby walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Selby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Selby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Selby. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
