“Lyndsay was terrific with our dogs she sent me photos of our dogs she let me know how they were doing, she sent me updates throughout our time away. Lyndsay was a great pet sitter she kept our house tidy. Our dogs were happy to see use I could tell by their behaviour that they were well cared for by Lyndsay.I would recommend her to dog sit for others. Thank you Debbie Creaser”

“Maple loved her time with Leann! She got lots of attention and plenty of walks - and I got lots of photos! Maple was happy and settled when I got home and Leann left my apartment in great shape. Leann handled my big dog with skill. I recommend her and would definitely use her services again.”

“Saghar is a wondeful, caring petsitter. My pup loves her and welcomes her with the biggest smiles and tail wags every time. She is very clean, considerate and trust worthy.”

“Ardele was absolutely wonderful! She took great care of our cats and our home. We loved the updates and photos. She was very easy to communicate with and will definitely request her services again.”

About: I'm a pet lover excited to be your pet's new best friend in Southwest Edmonton. Growing up, I was a bit timid around dogs, but that all changed when I met my friend's sweet and calm Great Dane/Lab cross. I immediately bonded and thought her quirk of being afraid of skateboards was incredibly cute. Overcoming that fear and building a bond with her opened my eyes to the incredible joy of caring for all kinds of animals. As a cat owner for most of my life, I understand the role a pet can play in your life and how important they are. My experience also includes caring for a variety of other pets, including dogs or all sizes, rabbits, lizards, and birds. I work remotely giving me a flexible schedule wherever there is internet. I'm ready to provide the loving, reliable care your pet deserves. I'm not ready for the full-time commitment of my own pet right now, so I'm looking forward to showering yours with all the love and attention they could want! Since I work from home, I have a very flexible daily routine. This allows me to offer frequent check-ins and be available during the day for walks, feedings, and plenty of playtime. I can easily fit pet care into my schedule to ensure your pet gets all the attention and care they need. I provide all pet care in the familiar and comfortable environment of your own home, where your pet feels most secure. My priority is to maintain your pet's routine as closely as possible, minimizing any stress from your absence. I will follow your instructions carefully regarding feeding schedules, walking routes, and medication. To ensure your peace of mind, I will provide regular updates and photos, so you can see that your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for. You can trust me to treat your home with respect, leaving it just as I found it.
“Samantha went over and beyond. The care she showed for my Yorkie and the consistent follow-up with photos and text was unexpected and admirable. Knowing my dog was in great hands let me RELAX while I was away. Doggone it…I was IMPRESSED.”

“Nathaniel was so great. He stayed at our house with our anxious dog for a week and was able to build a good relationship with her. He followed our scheduled, gave her lots of exercise, and took great care of our house. He even went above and beyond ensuring that our house remained "viewing ready" as it was for sale while he was there. We are really happy with Nathaniel and his care of our little girl and home. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great pet/home sitter.”

“Melicia had previously helped us by visiting our old cat in our absence. This time I asked her to stay in our place and take care of our cat for a few weeks. Melicia went above and beyond the care we asked; indeed, I asked her a few times not to spend this much energy and not to be concerned about our old kitty! You can definitely trust Melicia and I strongly recommend her. Thanks Melicia!”

“Ava was amazing with my two boys. She provided frequent updates along with photos. Having a dog with some special needs takes a special person to be willing to take that on and Ava rose to the occasion. I was put at ease knowing they were getting great care. Thank you Ava!”

“Damicka did a wonderful job dog sitting my slightly shy and anxious large dog for a long weekend. She is responsible, friendly and her communication was excellent. My dog was comfortable with her and it was nice to know she was in good hands while I was away. I would absolutely book dog sitting with Damicka again.”

“Amanda stayed in our home with our two dogs for a week. She was wonderful to work with and was amazing with our dogs. Our dog Shelby, had a small wound to deal with and had to have a cone on while Amanda was out. Amanda gave them both all the love and care they needed and then some. We will definitely be booking her again. Thanks Amanda 😃”

“Lacey took great care of Roz and our home over almost 2 weeks. She sent frequent updates and was very honest. We felt reassured knowing that Roz was in her care. Thank you, Lacey!”
About: I have plenty of experience housesitting for friends and looking after my own doggies. I love gardening and endeavour to keep plants happy. I like keeping my environment clean and tidy, and am more than happy to run any errands that are required in the owner's absence (e.g. scheduled grooming for pets, routine checkups, putting bins out etc.). I have volunteered with DRU (local animal shelter) in the past as part of the bird and chicken team - poultry are full on! This gave me more experience in administering medication (to peacocks!), cleaning animals and identifying any issues, and cleaning out pens and enclosures. I’m currently based in Calgary - I am available for morning and afternoon check ins and walks on weekdays and weekends, as I work remotely on weekdays between 8pm and midnight. I try to make sure pets keep to their routines! Having their families go away is stressful enough. I like to have a fair amount of info on your pets behaviours, routines, and things they like to do so they can be as comfortable as can be in your absence.

About: I've always had cats or dogs of some kind, and have regularly cared for friends and families pets! I love all animals furry or scaly! I'm in-between jobs at the moment so I have unlimited boughts of time to hangout with your furry friend! Nothing is truly blocking my schedule! Since I have no ther commitments at the moment I'll be sure to take great care of your furry friend! I'm down for long walks, and am comfortable cleaning up any mishaps that happen!
“What a godsend Nicholas was for our pups! Our trip away had stressful events, but the care of Pepper and Layla back home wasn’t one. It is clear that Nick adores the company of dogs, and our pups felt the same about him. Also, he could easily handle the 170 lbs of dogs for walks; that is a rare quality in dog sitters. He was communicative, and sent photo and video updates. We will definitely hire Nicholas again.”

About: I have 4 years of dog daycare and boarding in a commercial setting with an additional 4 years of house/farm sitting for clients with both dogs and cats. I have experience and love dogs of all sizes from Chihuahuas to Great Danes as well as experience with cats of all temperaments. I am also comfortable and have experience feeding and handling any other critters you have such as fish or reptiles. At the moment I am giving all of my attention to pet care and house sitting so my schedule is completely open for the spring/summer season. Upon accepting a house sitting, drop-in, or walk request I will schedule a meet & greet where I can meet you and your pets and go over any additional information. This includes safety issues within your home or on the walk route, crating options, allergies, or any other little quirks your pets may have. Pets are part of the family and keeping them safe and happy is my #1 priority.
“As always we are extremely happy wth Courtney. She has houses at our golden retriever several times. He is always happy and well exercised and cared for. He is very excited to see her. Our house looks like she was never even there. Neat and tidy. We continue to recommend Courtney highly.”

Saghar stayed in our home and looked after our two cats for six weeks while we were abroad. Throughout our time away, she kept in regular contact and sent us photos every day, which was very reassuring. She was reliable and easy to communicate with, and we appreciated having someone there to keep our cats company during such a long absence. Thank you again for taking care of them and staying in our home while we were away!
Demi was wonderful! I really appreciated her being available last minute, and coordinating with her was so easy. She took such great care of Ollie while I was away and sent lots of updates, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I got home, it was clear that Ollie had been very well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend Demi and would happily have her care for Ollie again!

Highly recommend Nathan He was great with our two dogs. They are were not used to staying with someone they didn’t know and the fact that he was able to stay at our house and made our dogs feel safe and comfortable was so appreciated. We used Nathan 3 times this summer and we will definitely reach out to Nathan again in the future

We couldn't be happier with the care Judy provided for our dog, Sadie, while we were away. From the moment we left, we knew Sadie was in loving and capable hands. The daily photos and updates were such a thoughtful touch. Seeing Sadie happy and relaxed each day gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our time away. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and are so grateful for everything she did. She watered our flowers, picked up after Sadie and left house perfect. We highly recommend Judy to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter!

Talia was an excellent dog sitter. She took great care of our little Chihuahua mix for a week and a half. He's a bit spoiled and stubborn, but she handled him very well and took him for walks every day. She also kept us updated and sent us lots of pictures throughout the day. Talia was also very clean and tidy with the house. We highly recommend her and wish her all the best.

This was our second time having Adrianna house/dog sit and we couldn’t recommend her more. She’s so friendly and communicative and I feel so comfortable having her in our home and watching our dog. We’re often nervous as our dog is dog-reactive but she has no problem handling the challenge and we know our dog, Molly, loves chilling with Adrianna

Nicole did a good job in feeding and keeping an eye on our cats while we were gone for the weekend, sending updates and taking care of our home, house was spotless and we were happy with the service, however, I wasn't entirely comfortable with the house being left unattended so often while the pet sitting service was being offered. (we had cameras at the door). That said, I realize it's partly my fault because I never clearly communicated my expectations about staying at the house. I assumed we had the same understanding, and I should have clarified properly. But she did what she ask for, thank you Nicole!

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Kyla watching our dog. Our girl is pretty high energy and Kyla handled her so well. She also went above and beyond to make sure our home was nice to come back to. I could not have asked for a better experience. We would happily have her back again 🥰

Ana is the absolute best. She has watched our home and kitties a couple times now and we would choose her to do it every time if able. During the most recent crazy rain storm we had some issues with water inbthe basement and she was able to helpnus while out of town and have great communication. It was also Canada Day and the fireworks were scarying the cats and she was there to calm them down and bring comfort. She went above and beyond what we expected her to deal with and we felt great knowing she was there. Great communication, left the house clean and tidy, and the cats are always well loved. Thank you Ana ❤️

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rideau Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rideau Park walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rideau Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
