Madalynn was great for the 2 dog walks she provided. Very positive experience. She was reliable, friendly, and clearly comfortable with dogs (she has her own). Super patient with our hundreds of requests of how to care for our dog, LOL. Communication was easy/fast and I felt confident that my dog was in good hands. My dog seemed happy and well cared for after each walk. I would definitely use her services again and recommend her to others.

Belle provided exceptional care for our active dog while we were out of the country for 3 weeks. She took her for walks each morning and evening, administered medication, and provided frequent and detailed updates. Belle is a wonderful person, and we are consistently impressed with the quality of care and education she provides to our four-legged family member. We will certainly use her services again!

About: Hi! My name is Alina. I am a full time student at the University of Alberta. I plan on becoming an elementary school teacher! I love all animals, especially dogs! I have a dog of my own, so I am quite familiar with a walking schedule, feeding, bathing and overall caring for a dog. I have also been walking and pet-sitting neighbours’, friends’ and family’s dogs for quite some time now (in both the summer and the winter months). Additionally, I have worked with dogs of all sizes, strengths, and energy levels! I would love a chance to find a fixed / stable schedule to become a part-time dog walker! My schedule is quite flexible and open and I have my own vehicle, so timing and distance will not be an issue. I look forward to hearing from you! My courses are all currently online so I have lots of availability, especially during weekdays when pups may need a walk or a bathroom break! When arriving to a pup’s home to visit, or to take them for a walk, my goal is to create a safe and fun environment for myself and the dog! Whether that be through lots of walks, treats, or cuddles, the ultimate goal is to create a meaningful bond with the pup!

About: I've had dogs and cats most of my life until the last few years. I can provide care as needed by you and your pets. I'm flexible with availability. I can work around different schedules, in many instances, to allow for different care needs for feeding or walks, or play. I treat them as my own, feeding, playing, or just giving attention based on the needs of you, or your pets, while you are away.

It was suggested that I write a review but it's probably a bit early after two walks with Alex. Suffice it to say that we are very happy so far. Judy is very calm, and that works well with Alex because he can be a bit hyper. I also appreciate the detailed feedback of the walk and his various stops. In short, great!

Jonathan was great he made time to do a meet and greet which is always appreciated. He was super punctual and responsive to all communications and followed all instructions I left. While he decided to no longer walk my dog (as she’s a bit of a nervous dog) after his first visit he still honoured his commitment and showed up for the 2 other walks he had agreed too which I really appreciated. Definitely a reliable person if you have a easy going pup he will be great.

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities over the years, and I’ve done lots of dog walking and pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbours. I’m currently a second-year university student, so I know how to stay organized and responsible but I also have plenty of energy for playtime and long walks. I really enjoy getting to know each dog and making sure they feel happy, comfortable, and safe while in my care! I’m currently wrapping up my semester at university, which means my schedule is wide open right now. I have extremely flexible availability! Any day of the week and almost any time works for me. Whether you need early-morning walks, midday check-ins, or last-minute help, I’m happy to make it work. When I’m caring for a dog in a client’s home, I try to keep things as familiar and comfortable for them as possible. For walks, I start by greeting your dog calmly and making sure their leash, harness, and any instructions you’ve left are all set. During the walk, I follow their usual pace, always staying in their comfort zone. Whether they like to take their time sniffing around or enjoy a more upbeat stroll. After we get back, I make sure they have fresh water, give treats if you allow them, and help them settle in before I leave. I’m attentive, patient, and respectful of your home and your dog’s routine, so they feel safe and cared for while you’re away.

I'm so happy with Sal's services. I was out of town for a few days and my husband was working long hours, so we needed someone to come over and walk our dog. He did so right on time both days and even sent me a picture of my dog after the walk. I felt at ease knowing my dog was in good hand. Will definitely rebook in the future!

About: I have been taking care of animals since I was 10. My family has had dogs of all sizes throughout my entire life, which has allowed me to learn how to keep them safe, happy, and healthy. My family and friends have trusted me with the care of their pets in the past as well. I also have experience with cats, birds, hamsters, hedgehogs, rabbits, and even pigs. I'm available for boarding from 10 AM to 10 PM everyday except for Friday's (and the occasional Sunday). My availability will change in September when my university classes start up again. Making sure that dogs get to explore and sniff to their hearts content is very important to me, as its been found to make them feel more happy and safe. I also have a water bottle for dogs so they can stay hydrated on active and warm days. Ultimately, it's important to me that I respect your pets need for both attention and personal space.

About: Let me care for your pets in the comfort of your home. Instead of boarding them at a pet facility. I have had dogs and cats as pets for most my life. I have had small, medium and large dogs. My family has had 2 golden retrievers. Wonderful dogs. I have always had a cat as a pet. I currently have 2 cats at home. I love animals, a lot of experience caring for them. Walking, grooming and feeding. I have never been afraid of animals. It is natural behaviour for me to be warm and affectionate with animals. I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies and take very good care of them. Please read for house sitting. I prefer to house sit in the areas of Old Strathcona, Garneau or Central Downtown. I appreciate your attention to this request. Please feel free to send a request if you are outside of these areas. I can make some exceptions :) However, I can only take job within the City of Edmonton because I do not drive. I now have lots of time to care for your pets in your homes. Currently, I do need some time away to head home to care for my kitties.

Danae walked our dog Bogey for two days and did a wonderful job. She brought great energy and clearly genuinely enjoyed spending time with him. What stood out most was her communication. She gave us thoughtful feedback about Bogey and detailed updates on how their walks went, so we always knew how he was doing. Highly recommend her!

Abigail is lovely and very accommodating! She has been receptive to last minute changes i have had to make and is very kind and understanding. My dog also warmed up to her quickly after one or two walks, he will show signs of being afraid if he is indeed afraid, but he is very welcoming of abigail in our home! We will continue to book with her as she has been so good to us 🙂

10/10 ❤️ First time using rover and I may have shed a tear watching my pup walk off with someone else on this beautiful day.. LOL. But, with some physical limitations I had to call in reinforcements (which clearly wasn’t easy for me). When they arrived home my dog was smiling so big, playing, being goofy and clearly just SO happy. I felt instantly better! She will now be walking him a few times a week. He now has a new friend and walking buddy. She has lovely energy ! (I also have a big German shepherd which can be a lot for some) so happy we have her to help out now! 🫶🏻

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in Rideau Park. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighbourhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

Tip: Keep in mind that many cities in Canada require your dog walker to have a permit or licence for group walks.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance travelled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Rideau Park.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rideau Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 98% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
