“Natasha is an amazing person and a sitter. I felt so at peace knowing she was taking care of my puppy Mango. Mango always came home happy and Natasha tended to her carefully. Natasha definitely knows what she’s doing. She is also very flexible with pick up/drop off timings. I will be requesting her to be my sitter again. Highly recommend.”

“Holly loves coming to play with Sunny & Jess! We love getting pics and updates - knowing Holly is having a good time and is safe and well cared for. Thanks again Sunny & Jess - for your awesome care 💕”

“Ana is a complete lifesaver. We had major renovations start in our home earlier than expected and my dog is 14 years old this month. No way I could leave hom at home with strangers making sounds at all hours of the day! She was able to take him in last minute, and provided many updates, photos, and videos throughout the day. Honestly, he is so excited to go he screams when he knows we are almost there. She takes better care of him that I probably do. I highly recommend Ana. She is really nice, takes great care of animals, and clearly loves them. Even my old mop of a boy.”

“Adrianna and her partner took such great care of Finn when I needed a last minute sitter! She provided updates about him while in her care which I appreciated and was friendly the way through from booking to pick-up. Thanks Adrianna :)”

“Sonja (and family) were so willing to understand my dog and so caring for the comfort of my dog. They were absolutely perfect at looking after her, I couldn't ask for anything more in the day care of my dog.”

“We were SO happy with the care Umber provided for Maple! She was incredibly responsive and extremely knowledgeable on dog behaviour and training and ensuring our pup felt comfortable and safe in a new environment. Blue and Honey are so sweet and so well behaved and Maple had a ton of fun with them!! She gained two new besties! We would absolutely recommend Umber to anyone.”

“It’s been a few visits now for day care, and my dog has come to love this place. They have taken such great care of him, you can tell he’s well taken care of. My dog has an anxiety, caused by previous years in a kennel. Now he’s seems a lot calmer, but the real test will come for when he will be staying overnight.”

“Brenda was a big hit with my dogs. She has a nice fenced yard and was very engaged with them - I wasn't worried about them getting into anything unsupervised. My Australian shepherd is attached to me like GLUE, and the second day they were over she didn't even run up to me squealing when I arrived as she was so busy and focused on her toy and our other pup. The two of them had a lovely time and it's amazing having someone local to Edmonton we can trust for daycare ♥️ The dogs even enjoyed some snuggles in bed (with prior permission of course) as we picked them up late on one of the days. You can tell Brenda loves dogs a lot. Thanks Brenda!”

About: I own a pitbull chocolate lab mix, hes a rescue and is my joy in life. I've taught him manners and made him many friends, he and I are always in the market for new dog friends! I own a dog so walks daily lots of snuggles and bring him to see his friends almost daily. And the park as often as possible. I live in a house with my dog, we hangout outside, go for walks, the park, and we play outback in the yard, and wrestling, sometimes ice cream treats on hot days!
“Eunji is fantastic with my dog. She takes videos and pictures all throughout the day to let you know how your dog is doing and keeps in touch. She is full of love and you can tell she really loves dogs and takes good care of them. My dog gets excited and happy when he knows he is going over there for the day. I wouldn't want to bring my dog to anyone else.”

About: I have grown up around animals my entire life. My grandfather is a CKC member, and breeder of retriever puppies. With him, I would help train to be hunting dogs, competition dogs, and even aid in search and rescue. He is decorated with medals for his training skills, because of this, as well as having owned or lived with different dogs my entire life I am very comfortable around a variety of ages, breeds and personality types. I know they all have different needs that I'm keen to pick up on! I also have tons of experience with all kinds of different cats. I am certainly a cat whisperer of sorts. Kitties love me almost as much as I love them! I am flexible and open to different things and can also take care of different caged pets like birds, reptiles, amphibians, rodents, rabbits, fish etc. if you happen to have one of those. I have a sensational green thumb and lots of experience watering and taking care of plants, so no need to worry about withering greens while you are away if you want me to look after them! ☺️ I currently work part time, Monday-Thursday. I am available for overnight care as well as care during the day at your house or mine. Luckily, my schedule is rather flexible and I may be able to accommodate you if there are any concerns or wishes regarding my availability. Just ask me! I will consider longer term stays, or even same days bookings if you need somebody to check in and let them out for a bathroom, play time break, or a walk while you're at work, on holiday, or can't get home in time. I live in a spacious home with my two friendly, playful young cats, and a westiepoo named Maisie, next to the Whitemud Creek and various parks. My vehicle will be up and running before the end of this month and I will be able to transport small-medium sized crates, or dogs who are car-trained.
“Rhonda was amazing, what an excellent environment for any dog! There were walks, one-on-one attention and you can really tell Rhonda cares for the puppies! Rosie came home so happy and we can’t wait to rebook 😊”

About: Hello everyone! I grew up on a farm in a small village in Germany, always surrounded by cats and dogs. My Persian cat was with me for 17 years, and since then I’ve cared for a 6-month-old puppy, a senior dog, two cats and rabbits. Each pet has taught me something different, from handling puppy energy to supporting older pets with patience. I recently moved to Edmonton and live in a spacious 2-bedroom apartment with lots of places to hide properly :-). I’m not ready here for a pet of my own yet, but I enjoy spending time with animals and giving them attention and structure. Money is a nice side effect, but what matters to me is your pet. I want to make sure they have a calm and comfortable experience while their loved one is away. I have a full flexible schedule and am able to work from home 7 days a week. I often go for a run and a daily walk in the river valley, which is around the corner. No house, no yard, but a spacious apartment with lots of green places around. My apartment is secure, it has lots of spots to hide if your pet needs space.
“We can’t recommend Julie enough! She was extra attentive and supportive with our two dogs, keeping us updated every step of the way. She was lovely with both dogs, and even our more anxious pup took to her immediately. It was so clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after, and it gave us such peace of mind knowing our dogs were in such good hands.”

“Elizabeth was fantastic! She took wonderful care of my dog and kept me updated with frequent messages and pictures, which i really appreciated. She was also very accommodating with my work schedule. My dog came home happy and worn out after full day with her. I’ll absolutely be booking with Elizabeth again; highly recommend!”

“Thank you so much Iren! You made Milo’s first experience at daycare an enjoyable one 💙 Milo was well taken care of , and I was updated through the day; Iren really cares and it shows I would definitely book again when we are visiting Edmonton!! Thank you 💙”

“Marie is a wonderful and caring sitter. She took my dog in last-minute, and cared for her like she was her own. Her house is well prepared for hosting and she sent me frequent updates on how my pup was doing. She also took some beautiful frame-worthy pictures of my girl. I would recommend Marie to anyone!”

Keith is an amazing dog sitter! He is trustworthy, reliable and has good communication. He watched our pup for the day and gave us regular updates with pictures and videos (which we absolutely loved!). It was easy to communicate with him and he is professional and I can tell he loves dogs and cares for them well. Brownie was a happy pup when I picked him up and I'm sure he's looking forward to his next visit with Keith! I would highly recommend Keith for dog sitting!

Nathaniel accommodated and welcomed Brie & my family with our request to book Brie and an extension on Brie's stay. He gave exvellent updates and lots of pictures. Very centrally located to West Edmonton Mall if you want to make a day out of it. We hope we can see you again soon Nathaniel. Brie was one happy girl. Thank you sooooo much 😀🐕🥰

- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalized care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Rideau Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AB ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
