“Elizabeth was fantastic! She took wonderful care of my dog and kept me updated with frequent messages and pictures, which i really appreciated. She was also very accommodating with my work schedule. My dog came home happy and worn out after full day with her. I’ll absolutely be booking with Elizabeth again; highly recommend!”

“I was a bit nervous leaving Pudding with someone new, but Xiaoying made the whole process so easy. She is incredibly responsible and communicative. I loved getting the check-ins and seeing Pudding so happy and relaxed. It’s such a relief to find a sitter you can fully trust. 10/10 recommend Xiaoying for any pet parent!”

“Harika is an excellent sitter. I contacted her to dog sit (with drop off in 30 minutes) and she responded promptly and accepted my request. Then later I asked for an hour extension and she accommodated me. I ended up being an extra half hour. During my dog’s stay (5 1/2 hrs) she sent me many pictures, fed and walked my dog. The home is very nice and clean. I would absolutely request services again when I have to be in Edmonton. Thanks again!”

“Extremely courteous and caring experience today. My dog was very calm coming home after a full day with Chelsea. Even tho it was raining non stop, she still fit in multiple pee breaks for my very reluctant little dog. Thank you for taking care of Mr. Lolo for me today”

“Jason was unbelievably kind, and willing to take on our girl with high anxiety who can be a bit challenging, without hesitation. He is very responsive, and I never had any doubts about trusting him with our girl. We were travelling to the area, but if we’re ever back in Edmonton, I would 100% use Jason again!”

“As a first time fur parent I am greatful that we found Elizabeth to watch Toffy! She took such amazing care of him and sent us pictures throughout the stay. We could tell by the photo that he was having a great time. We will definitely be rebook her again and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a safe and caring home to leave their fur babies while they are away.”

“I just took my dog for the first time ever to see how he would do. He is almost 16 and has dementia.Andrea tried her best but Gizmo is a tough cookie if I’m not around. I’d absolutely bring him back if he didn’t have dementia it’s a tough thing for a dog and his owner so absolutely tough for someone else. Thank you Andrea for putting Gizmos health first . I appreciate it. Janet”

“Would highly recommend Bret to watch your dog. He took great care of my pup, Opie. He has a big clean backyard for the dogs to run around. He became good friends with his dog, Coco, who was able to match Opie’s high energy. Bret would constantly update me with pics and videos. After his stay, my dog was happy and tired!! Thank you Bret.”

“I was a little nervous leaving my dog as he hasn't really been left before but they made me feel at ease by telling me how he was doing, taking pics and videos and even gave him a bone to chew. I am very happy with this service and I would definitely book with these two again!”

“Our dog Ollie seemed to be super happy when we picked him up! They made sure to ask for any instructions for our dog and had plenty of space to separate Ollie from another dog they were watching. They let Ollie outside several times which he loves and they were great people to contact they answered right away and were friendly! I would definitely book with them again!”

“It’s been a few visits now for day care, and my dog has come to love this place. They have taken such great care of him, you can tell he’s well taken care of. My dog has an anxiety, caused by previous years in a kennel. Now he’s seems a lot calmer, but the real test will come for when he will be staying overnight.”

“She was on time, ready for us to come over. I was impressed with her knowledge of dogs and their behaviour. I was worried leaving my puppy in a strange place, so went over the day before just to introduce him and myself. We had a nice chat and I felt better after meeting her and seeing how she related to the other dog in her care. All went well and we will arrange another visit when we need care for Roger. Marcia Forth, dog Mom.”

About: Hello! My name is Alex and I would love to look after your pup! I have two dogs and a cat. Roscoe is 10, Coach is 3 and Jojo my cat is 3. All of them are friendly and we ensure that all animals are safe. I work from home full time so I am able to always be around to monitor your pup! Roscoe is very easy going with a great temperament that gets along with all different breeds of dogs. Coach is a typical lab--loves to run and is high energy. He loves to play with other pups so hopefully your dog is okay with that! We live in a house with a fenced backyard! Plenty of room for your pup to run around :) I have had a dog in my life since I was 15 years old, and I am very versed with all different breeds and temperaments. I believe in providing a warm, loving household that makes a dog feel at ease! I promise to treat your dog with the same love and respect as I treat my own :) I currently work from home, so I am home all of the time. I usually take the dogs out to the backyard multiple times a day, especially if it's gorgeous out, to throw the ball with them or bask in the sun. Jojo, my cat, has a catio, so she's often watching everyone outside, too! I live with my partner and our two dogs and cat. My partner also loves pets so he also is here to administer pets and food! We just love all animals so we will treat your dog the way we treat our own!
“Shalet is so kind and reassuring. I really appreciated all the photos and updates she sent throughout the day to keep me informed. Thank you as well for all the delicious treats and meals you spoiled my dog with! He had an amazing time and will definitely miss his new dog friends. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Shalet again!”

About: I have two dogs, Benny and Leo. Both of them are dog social and friendly. They are both certified wellness dogs and compete in barn hunt trials. Benny knows over 100 tricks (and still learning!) and Leo is also competing in rally obedience trials. We are constantly working towards furthering our training. I use force free and positive reinforcement for training methods. Our days rotate through training, play and rest! I promise a 1:1 training session (topic of choice) and a 30 minute solo walk per day and many many photo updates! I have a fully fenced yard and I take my boys to a private dog park twice a week to run like maniacs. Your dog would be included in all our activities and regular routine! I do require dogs to be crate trained for their stay - both my dogs take an afternoon nap and this allows for me to do the solo walks with each dog. I do expect dogs to be dog social or dog neutral. Safety for all the dogs in my care is my top priority. Our instagram is bennyplusleo if you wanted to see more of how I train and what our days normally look like! I offer day training and boarding from my home. My schedule is made around the needs of the dogs in my care! Dogs will not be left alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time at maximum. Typically we will start the day with some play and then move to 1:1 training sessions for breakfast. Dogs are free to roam my house and can decide to play or lounge. We do a mid day nap for everyone where I will take turns walking the dogs individually. Once all the dog walks are complete the dogs are welcome to free roam the house again to play or relax. I will also use this time to do additional afternoon training sessions! • I try to dog proof my home as much as possible. I have rugs across my main floor to avoid slips. There is nothing out or close to counter edges that your dog can get into. • Dogs are always supervised during playtime, in my backyard or in the basement. I also have motion sensored lights for our potty patch for night time potty. My side yards have additional pens to help prevent dogs from potentially escaping the gates. • All meals are given to each dog separately to ensure that no resource guarding occurs. I have a variety of pens, gates and crates to keep everyone separate when they are being fed.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Devon commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AB ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
