“We were so thankful to have Ava housesit our dog Buddy and cat Bear while we were away for a few days! She was very kind, her communication was excellent, and she obviously cares a lot about animals and making your pets feel loved. Will absolutely book her again and would recommend her to anyone else!”
“Excellent! Emma is wonderful house/dog sitter. She is friendly and took good care of my dogs. She was always sending pictures of my dogs while we were away. I trust her and would get her to sit again.”

“Lyra was, without a doubt, the most skilled, patient and friendly dog sitter (and trainer!!!) we have EVER had. Our dogs adored her, and she went above and beyond to train our new rescue dog, working on his fears, barking and leash pulling. I didn’t worry once about either dog, we were updated frequently with pics and training progress, and we came home to HAPPY, brushed dogs and a spotlessly clean house. I can’t recommend Lyra enough!!! Amazing.”
“This is our first time using rover - samana was awesome. She kept us updated on our dogs evening so we felt completely at ease. She was right on time and never gave us a moments worry. Lucky Howie!”

“We recently had the pleasure of having Sam look after our beloved bulldogs, Carlton and Stella, for a night as a trial run before our vacation. To say we were impressed would be an understatement. It’s no small feat to win over our dogs, who are very much like our children to us, but Sam did so with remarkable ease and grace. From the moment Sam stepped into our home, it was evident that she possesses a special kind of magic that animals are drawn to. Her ability to connect with Carlton and Stella was instantaneous, and the peace of mind that brought us cannot be overstated. It was a relief to see how comfortable they were with her, even in such a short period. Sam’s professionalism, warmth, and genuine love for animals shone through, making it clear that our dogs were not just being looked after, but were also being cared for, played with, and loved as if they were her own. The updates and photos we received further reassured us that we had made the right choice. We are already looking forward to working with Sam again and cannot recommend her highly enough. If you’re seeking someone who will treat your pets with all the love, attention, and care they deserve, look no further than Sam. Our vacation will undoubtedly be more enjoyable knowing our furry family members are in the best hands possible. Thank you, Sam, for giving us the gift of peace of mind and for taking such wonderful care of Carlton and Stella. You’ve truly set a new standard for pet care, and we are so excited to have you as part of our extended family”

“Was a pleasure meeting Pam and having her care for our dogs was the best decision. They were so comfortable with her right away. She took wonderful care of them and our home. My dogs have a new best friend. Not sure if they even minded we were gone. We will definitely choose Pam to care for our fur babies in the future without hesitation.”

“We came home after a week holiday to three happy puppies. We received photos almost daily and our one puppy who has some quirks warmed right up to Brooke. We can not complain. Not only were Our puppies happy but our house well taken care of. We would recommend Brooke to take care of your puppies and home anytime.”
“This was a bit of a last-minute booking, but Richelle was absolutely amazing! She had her son and husband with her as well, and I was a little nervous about my dog being around her baby—not because he’s aggressive at all, but because he’s big and clumsy, and it had been a while since he’d been around a child under a year old. She was so understanding and comfortable with me staying when they first arrived, so we could see how he would do around the baby, and it went amazingly! Throughout their stay, she sent me regular updates and pictures, which I greatly appreciated. She even sent pictures of my dog and her son “playing” together! I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Colby took great care of Mookie! We were concerned given Mookie’s age (17 yrs old) and temperament; but Colby did a great job of making Mookie feel relaxed. She provided update photos via the portal which gave us peace of mind. Thanks Colby - very much appreciated! We would have no hesitation in going with Colby again.”

“Robin was great! She did 3 pre-visits (we booked her a month and a half in advance). She stayed in our home for almost three weeks. Gave us almost daily updates with pictures. Our two fur babies were calm and relaxed when we came home. The house was left clean and in order. Will be using her again when we go away!”

“Jesse sent regular updates as promised. The house was well looked after and was left in the same clean state as when we left. He maintained her grooming by giving her regular brushings. He asked for a text when we got home late at night to make sure Bailey was safe. We were very happy with the care he provided and would highly recommend his services.”

“Darlene is great at what she does. She has taken care of our home and pets twice now, and we love her. She updates us as needed. She takes care of the place and leaves no foot print. We are so lucky too have known her, and will continue to hire her services. Our dogs love her.”

“Jessica was amazing! Our first time having someone stay at our house with our dog Gigi. She kept me updated with pictures & messages, which gave me reassurance and piece of mind. Gigi was in good hands, even cuddled up to Jessica at bedtime, too cute. They definitely made friends with each other. I will definitely be booking with Jessica again!!”

“This was our first time using Rover, and Jay alleviated all worries we had. Our two pups and two cats are very grateful for Jay. We will definitely invite him into our home again. Thanks! PS. Riker says he’s sorry for almost knocking you off the stairs.”

“She took amazing care of my puppy and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. She was responsible, loving, and great with communication. When unexpected circumstances came up, she kindly agreed to stay longer, which I truly appreciated. I came home to a happy puppy and a well-kept home. Highly recommend her! 💛”

About: I treat every dog like they're part of my own family. I take the time to get to know each dog's personality, routine, and needs so they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. Whether you have a playful puppy who needs patience and consistency, an energetic adult dog, or a sweet senior who requires a little extra care (including medications if needed), I'm happy to provide the attention they deserve. You'll also receive regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your furry family member is in good hands. A bit about me ..... I am a animal health tech as a well as a mama to both two dogs and human babies ! My heart always has a place for caring for animals !! I do work full time but weekends I'm always free ! And during that time I put my full time and effort in to pets I am a very flexible person and easy going person so it all depends on the animal and there needs and attention in the clients homes.
About: I grew up on an acreage and have cared for animals my entire life. I began pet sitting for others early on, including for a veterinarian family, caring for dogs, cats, horses, fish, and a variety of other animals. I am currently a student at the U of A where I am studying Animal Health with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. I offer pet sitting, dog-walking, feeding/watering, exercise and daily care tailored to each animal's individual needs. I currently work part-time and attend University classes at the UofA for Animal Health. However this still allows me lots of free time to direct towards pet sitting and with communication I am very open to discussing scheduling. Whenever I pet/house sit at a clients home, I maintain and clean and organized environment. I prioritize cleaning up after not just the pets but myself included. I always follow rules and instructions for certain things as well in order to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
About: I’ve grown up with and cared for mostly medium to large dogs, with energy levels ranging from calm, easygoing pups to high-energy walkers. I’m confident handling stronger dogs and tailoring walks to their needs—whether that’s a relaxed pace or burning off some zoomies. I’m attentive, patient, and prioritize safety, while also bringing lots of playfulness and “fun aunt” energy to every visit. I work full-time Monday to Friday, but I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and sitting in the evenings, with flexible availability on weekends. I’m intentional about the time I spend with each pet, making sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and consistency in their routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my priority. Living in an apartment means all outdoor time is supervised, with regular walks and structured routines tailored to your dog’s energy level. I’m confident handling medium to large dogs and always focus on safe, attentive walks. In your home, I’m respectful, clean, and follow your pet’s routine closely to keep things consistent and stress-free. You can expect regular updates, lots of attention, and a calm, reliable presence.
About: I’ve had dogs in my house since I was very little. I’ve had puppies all the way up to our current senior dogs, one who is losing his vision and hearing. I enjoy walking and will treat your dog as my own. I work from home part time on a very limited/flexible schedule and have plenty of time to dedicate to your furry companion. I look forward to scheduling with you on a regular basis to fit your needs. Our dogs are given the best treatment. We train tricks and routines and remove bad behaviours only through positive reinforcement. One of our current dogs is a rescue dog and we have supported her in this manner.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Devon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Devon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Devon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
