“Caitlin was great! She sent updates on how our dogs were doing and checked in with any questions. Left our house well cared for, and I felt comfortable leaving my dogs with her.”

“This was our first time using the Rover app, and Sam was excellent. We really appreciated the daily updates and photos of our dog, Banjo—it gave us peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. We came home to a happy dog and a spotless house. We’ll definitely be booking with Sam again in the future!”

“Ellie and I are so grateful to have Samana in our lives! I can always rely on Samana to take such good care of Ellie when I can’t be home. They always have such fun together, and I always arrive home to a happy pup!”

“Robin was a great cat sitter and took good care of our boys. She was in touch all throughout our trip, making us enjoy our vacation knowing our cats were well taken care of. We came back home to a clean house and happy cats. We would use her again.”

“Derlene is amazing. We had her for a home sitting. All of our dogs loved her. She sent us pictures of them while we were away. She was very friendly, personable and easy to communicate with while we were away. Our house was spotless with freshly washed sheets and made bed when we got home. We were so happy with her that we've booked her again. Thank you Derlene.”

“Kyla watched our 130lb Cane Corse Blue for 2 nights in our house. She went above and beyond, contacting me and sending photos she took of Blue. Her knowledge in dog care came in handy when she noticed blood on the floor due to a bloody paw. She contacted me right away, identifying that he had a hot spot (which I had not heard of before) and let me know she had already taken care of cleaning his paw for us. Blue was in the best hands with Kyla and she will be the first contact I go to when booking another dog sitter. What a relief knowing your loved one is in such great care! Thanks again Kyla! :)”

“Paige took such wonderful care of my dog, Lyra, while house sitting over the weekend. She was polite, respectful, and incredibly trustworthy from start to finish. What really stood out were the thoughtful updates she sent throughout the weekend, complete with photos of Lyra enjoying her walks, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear Lyra was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I came home to a relaxed pup and a well-looked-after home, and it was obvious Lyra had been genuinely loved on while I was gone. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Paige to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter—she’s truly a gem, and I’d happily have her back anytime!”

“I highly recommend Lyra for dog sitting, walks and training. Communication was great, we got pictures everyday along with an update. Our dog absolutely loved her and I felt peace of mind knowing she was so well taken care of. Lyra helped reinforce good behaviour on walks and in the house and we came home to a very happy dog and a clean house. We would definitely book Lyra again in the future!”

About: Animals have always been a part of my life. All of my own pets were adopted. Rescue animals hold a special place in my heart and helped build the foundation of my experience working with animals that have a wide range of temperaments, backgrounds, and needs. I’m often the person friends and family rely on when they need a trustworthy pet sitter, and I currently provide multiple dog walks daily for repeat clients. These households include small, medium, and large breeds, some with multiple dogs in the home. I focus on caring for one pet household at a time, which allows me to give each pet consistent attention and maintain their normal routine. I regularly care for dogs with very different personalities and energy levels—from playful puppies to calm seniors. I also have experience supporting dogs recovering from injuries, caring for pets that require medication, and working with anxious or reactive dogs. Animals tend to respond well to my calm, patient energy. I’m very attentive to body language and behavior, which helps me respond appropriately if a dog is unsure, stressed, or needs reassurance. My goal is always to maintain each pet’s normal routine and provide calm, consistent care so they feel safe and comfortable. I communicate clearly with owners, send regular updates and photos, and treat every pet and home with respect. Reliability is extremely important to me. Before the first booking, I take time to understand each pet’s routine, preferences, and needs so their day, walks, and care stay as normal and predictable as possible. Please request a meet-and-greet before new bookings to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. While dogs are my primary focus, I’m also happy to care for cats and make sure they receive the same attentive and reliable care. I’m available seven days a week for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting, making it easy to fit care around your schedule. My flexibility allows me to respond to your pet’s needs whenever they arise. Safety and trust are extremely important to me. I communicate clearly with owners and treat every pet and home as if it were my own. I always share updates and photos so owners can see their pets are doing well and happy. I focus on caring for one pet household at a time, which allows me to give each pet consistent attention while maintaining their normal routine so they are comfortable. I take the time to understand each pet’s temperament, preferences, special needs, triggers and routine so they feel safe. During walks and visits, I stay attentive to their behavior and the environment, making sure they’re stress-free. In clients’ homes, I follow instructions carefully, respect routines, and maintain a calm atmosphere. If boarding a small or medium dog in my apartment, I am patient and maintain a calm environment with focus on supervision, routine, and structured walks. Please request a meet and greet prior to booking, to ensure you and your pets are comfortable and it’s a good fit for everyone.
About: Hello! My name is Alex and I would love to look after your pup! I have two dogs and a cat. Roscoe is 10, Coach is 3 and Jojo my cat is 3. All of them are friendly and we ensure that all animals are safe. I work from home full time so I am able to always be around to monitor your pup! Roscoe is very easy going with a great temperament that gets along with all different breeds of dogs. Coach is a typical lab--loves to run and is high energy. He loves to play with other pups so hopefully your dog is okay with that! We live in a house with a fenced backyard! Plenty of room for your pup to run around :) I have had a dog in my life since I was 15 years old, and I am very versed with all different breeds and temperaments. I believe in providing a warm, loving household that makes a dog feel at ease! I promise to treat your dog with the same love and respect as I treat my own :) I currently work from home, so I am home all of the time. I usually take the dogs out to the backyard multiple times a day, especially if it's gorgeous out, to throw the ball with them or bask in the sun. Jojo, my cat, has a catio, so she's often watching everyone outside, too! I live with my partner and our two dogs and cat. My partner also loves pets so he also is here to administer pets and food! We just love all animals so we will treat your dog the way we treat our own!
“Stephen took excellent care of our pets and our home. He stayed at our home for just over 3 weeks while we were out of the country and we had complete piece of mind with him taking care of our 3 cats and our dog. Stephen was very responsive and clear with communication. He also ensured that he visited a couple of times before house sitting so that our anxious dog would be more comfortable with him. I completely recommend Stephen for your pet needs!”

About: I recently lost my 14 year old senior dog who had been blind for the last four years of his life. We managed walks with the use of bells on my laces. I was his seeing eye human! I have raised dogs from puppies. I have had dogs in all of the off-leash parks in Edmonton and surrounding areas. I am an incredibly active person who loves the outdoors and the river valley. I’m available for boarding on the weekends and live close to walking trails, the river valley and dog parks. I love to be outside and active but I also love to sew and quilt so my home is very peaceful. I would take the dogs for regular long walks. I have a dog park across the street from me and I am within walking distance of the river valley and some of the ravines. I would take care of your pet as you ask. If you use a kennel, I would do the same. If you have rules for the pets I would respect and abide by them.
About: I’ve always been the person who says hi to the pets before the people. I have experience caring for both dogs and cats, and I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s personality. I have two reactive dogs, so I understand patience, body language, and meeting pets where they’re at—whether that’s a confident adventure buddy or a more cautious, slow-to-warm-up friend. I’m also very comfortable with cats and their very specific opinions on everything. My goal is simple: keep your pets safe, happy, and cared for! I have reduced hours at work during the summer so I have plenty of time of extra time to fill with your dogs! I can do over nights, afternoon walks and weekend care! I provide care in my client’s home so pets can stay in their familiar environment and keep their normal routine. I follow their usual feeding, walk, play, and medication schedules as closely as possible to help reduce stress while their owners are away. I have experience with reactive dogs, so I’m comfortable reading body language, managing triggers, and using patience and calm handling to keep pets feeling safe. I take things at each pet’s pace, whether they’re energetic, shy, or need a little extra space. I’m also very comfortable caring for cats and understand the importance of letting them come to me on their terms. I’m happy to provide regular updates with photos and notes so you always know how your pet is doing.
“We booked Jasmine to house sit our pup Lenny while we were on holidays for a week. Jasmine was very professional during the booking process, very kind during our initial meet and greet and provided regular updates with pictures throughout our time away. I felt confident that Lenny was in good hands while we were away, which was reassuring. She left the house in great condition as well! Would recommend Jasmine and will use her for future bookings!”

“Colby took great care of Mookie! We were concerned given Mookie’s age (17 yrs old) and temperament; but Colby did a great job of making Mookie feel relaxed. She provided update photos via the portal which gave us peace of mind. Thanks Colby - very much appreciated! We would have no hesitation in going with Colby again.”

“Was a pleasure meeting Pam and having her care for our dogs was the best decision. They were so comfortable with her right away. She took wonderful care of them and our home. My dogs have a new best friend. Not sure if they even minded we were gone. We will definitely choose Pam to care for our fur babies in the future without hesitation.”

“Robbin watched our 2 dogs and our house for a weekend! She was incredible and so trustworthy. She left the place pristine, Moon and Sunny were so happy with her. And had the biggest smiles when we got home! Robbin was great with communication and we will be using her again as long as she’s happy to sit for us 😊”

“Our pup had the best week with Emily! I really loved seeing all the photos of their adventures. This was our first time with a dog sitter - it was super stress free and worked out perfectly for us.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Devon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Devon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Devon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
