“Samantha, gave me lots of updates about Nube so I had peace of mind to know she was well cared for. She left the place clean and organized as well. Samantha administered the medications and my dog had a good time. Thanks a lot Samantha”

About: I have plenty of experience housesitting for friends and looking after my own doggies. I love gardening and endeavour to keep plants happy. I like keeping my environment clean and tidy, and am more than happy to run any errands that are required in the owner's absence (e.g. scheduled grooming for pets, routine checkups, putting bins out etc.). I have volunteered with DRU (local animal shelter) in the past as part of the bird and chicken team - poultry are full on! This gave me more experience in administering medication (to peacocks!), cleaning animals and identifying any issues, and cleaning out pens and enclosures. I’m currently based in Calgary - I am available for morning and afternoon check ins and walks on weekdays and weekends, as I work remotely on weekdays between 8pm and midnight. I try to make sure pets keep to their routines! Having their families go away is stressful enough. I like to have a fair amount of info on your pets behaviours, routines, and things they like to do so they can be as comfortable as can be in your absence.
“Damicka did a wonderful job dog sitting my slightly shy and anxious large dog for a long weekend. She is responsible, friendly and her communication was excellent. My dog was comfortable with her and it was nice to know she was in good hands while I was away. I would absolutely book dog sitting with Damicka again.”

“Absolutely amazing. I have my Vet med assisting, have worked in a emergency setting for 4 years and also I have worked in dog daycare, so to say the least nothing feels good enough for my pets.... EXCEPT ZOE shes phenomenal and I highly recommend even if your catnor dog need medication. I have 3 kitten babies and 2 dogs at completely different stages and Im wowed by her.”

“I can't say enough amazing things about Angie. She sent me photos everyday I was away. I loved during our meet and greet that she brought a note book with her to take notes and no other pet sitter did that, it's why I picked her and that Wookie liked her. Angie was here for 11 days and my cat Wookie loves her. Angie is so sweet and caring. I really can't recommend her enough. I will always use Angie for my pet sitting needs.”

“Carmen was fantastic. She took great care of our animals when we went away. She provided lots of updates and photos and videos. She gave the animals grace and time to adjust to us being away and a new person being in the house. She also communicated with us clearly regarding any concerns she had and showed great compassion for our very senior kitty. Our pets seemed to like her a lot as well, including our dog who can be quite sensitive. We were very comfortable and happy with our experience and would recommend Carmen for sure.”

“Finn had such a great stay with Pamela. From the moment they met, I could tell she was calm, patient, and genuinely cared about making him feel comfortable. She kept me updated with photos and thoughtful messages throughout his stay, and it was clear she was paying attention to his personality and routine, not just watching him. He came home happy and relaxed, and even looked back for her when she left, which says a lot. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Pamela again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable sitter.”

“Maple loved her time with Leann! She got lots of attention and plenty of walks - and I got lots of photos! Maple was happy and settled when I got home and Leann left my apartment in great shape. Leann handled my big dog with skill. I recommend her and would definitely use her services again.”

“Very prompt, reliable, and responsive! Sent plenty of updates and took care of any issues when we were away. Adrianna and Jack went above and beyond to take care of things like shovelling our walkway and offering to wash bedding when they were done, and our kitties were clearly very well cared-for.”

“Katia was an excellent sitter, and we would absolutely with her book again. My dogs were very comfortable with her, and I really appreciated the check-ins. She left our house super tidy, and the dogs were tired when we got home. Our big, energetic dogs are not for everyone, but Katia did not seem overwhelmed by them at all and bonded with each of them. I highly recommend her services.”

“Nathaniel was so great. He stayed at our house with our anxious dog for a week and was able to build a good relationship with her. He followed our scheduled, gave her lots of exercise, and took great care of our house. He even went above and beyond ensuring that our house remained "viewing ready" as it was for sale while he was there. We are really happy with Nathaniel and his care of our little girl and home. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great pet/home sitter.”

“One again we have had Courtney stay with our golden retriever Chester. We were gone 2 weeks and did not worry about him at all. We knew from past experience that Courtney would take good care of him. We arrived home to a well fed happy pup. The toys around showed that that clearly had had some fun together. Our house was left exactly as we left it, you could not even tell she had been there. I highly recommend Courtney for any of your pet needs We definitely hope to book her again.”

About: My family have had dogs my whole life but since moving out alone I do not have any. I have been training dogs since I could walk and miss having furry companions around. I am a student, mostly I am available on weekends or around class times Monday-Thursday. Most of the day I am available, evenings and weekends can always be cleared for a furry friend! I am happy to stick to whatever routine you have with your pets such as if you choose to crate your pets or if they roam free, I will do what works best for them and for you. If you have instructions, I have no problems following them

Denis was amazing with my 10-year-old rescue Cubby! We had a lovely meet and greet where he immediately bent down to greet her and she was instantly comfortable with him :) Sent great updates and pictures, was so accommodating with the fact that I couldn't leave a fob (my building only gives one) and used the buzzer when taking her out for walks, and even sent a picture of a package that arrived for me. He gave me feedback on how she did which was so kind - as she's older and a bit sensitive and we just moved here. She was a very happy pup spending time with Denis!! Will book again asap. Thank you!

We couldn't be happier with the care Judy provided for our dog, Sadie, while we were away. From the moment we left, we knew Sadie was in loving and capable hands. The daily photos and updates were such a thoughtful touch. Seeing Sadie happy and relaxed each day gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our time away. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and are so grateful for everything she did. She watered our flowers, picked up after Sadie and left house perfect. We highly recommend Judy to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter!

This was our second time having Adrianna house/dog sit and we couldn’t recommend her more. She’s so friendly and communicative and I feel so comfortable having her in our home and watching our dog. We’re often nervous as our dog is dog-reactive but she has no problem handling the challenge and we know our dog, Molly, loves chilling with Adrianna

Finn had such a great stay with Pamela. From the moment they met, I could tell she was calm, patient, and genuinely cared about making him feel comfortable. She kept me updated with photos and thoughtful messages throughout his stay, and it was clear she was paying attention to his personality and routine, not just watching him. Right from the first meet and greet we ( 2 large dogs and myself) all felt very settled and comfortable with Pam. We were away for 2 weeks and received regular updates on our dogs. Pam is reliable, punctual and has a calm energy that we all appreciated. We returned home to find our dogs and home looking well cared for. I can honestly say that our dogs loved her and we will all look forward to her next visit. If you are anxious about leaving your fur babies we would highly recommend Pam. Thanks Pam 💕

Saghar is so kind and loving! My pup warmed up to her quickly and she is very thorough with her care and providing updates. My dog is deaf and blind and she made him feel very safe and comfortable in a short amount of time. We will definitely book with her again!

Ashton did a fantastic job! I came home to a clean and tidy house, my lawn was mowed, and my pets looked well. He took the time to do some training with my young dog who was struggling with anxiety. I don't know what Ashton did, but my dog is relaxed and happy! It's an amazing and wonderful change. I definitely would rebook with Ashton.

Jessica and Keziah took such wonderful care of our beloved cat Timber and our home while we were away. Timber isn’t your typical cat, he loves to be around people. They made sure that he had company, cuddles, play time and cares It was so nice to see what they were up to and picture of my boy. Thank you Jessica and Keziah!!!

Sara took really good care of Winston and Fin. They bounded with her right away and were zen throughout the stay. She’s professional, friendly, provides regular updates, fed Winston’s supplements twice a day and spent her time caring and entertaining them. I will definitely rebook with Sara and recommend her for your next house sitting needs.

Rachel is the best. She was so great with my dogs. She is excellent at communication and really took care of my dogs while she was here. She helped me out of a tough situation when I had to extend my stay out of town. Austin and bunny were in great hands and can't wait to hang out with her again!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edmonton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edmonton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edmonton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
