“Andrea was absolutely lovely with our anxious new rescue, we will definitely be booking again, she was so attentive and kind and patient, and sent lots of updates, it was sincerely appreciated. Very knowledgeable and skilled with dogs, and the most lovely person too.”

“Nathaniel watched my dogs at my home for a week while I was gone on vacation. He was the best house/ dog sitter I've had. Very responsive and took care of my house and 2 large dogs while I was gone. He went above and beyond...”

“We have had Saoirse come and stay with our two dogs and 1 cat a couple of times now. She is very good with them and keeps us posted with pictures and updates daily. We highly recommend her!”

“I had a great experience with Saghar as my Rover house sitter. She was very communicative throughout the entire stay, providing regular updates and photos, which gave me real peace of mind. She was attentive to my cat’s needs and clearly took the time to understand her routine and personality. I also appreciated how observant she was - nothing went unnoticed, and she kept me informed of even small details. On top of that, she left my home clean and well cared for. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter.”

“Janessa took great care of my reactive dog and 2 cats while I had an emergency trip! I knew that my apartment was also well cared for! Very proactive, honest, and my pets were happy when I returned home. Thank you!”

“Courtney house sat with our golden retriever June 26 - 30. We have been lucky to be able to get Courtney several times now. We cannot say how much we appreciate her kind and caring manner with our dog. The house is always left perfect. We highly recommend Courtney for any of your pet needs.”

“Denis was fantastic. My two dogs and my cat all loved him. He asked great questions and really made sure he knew what I was asking him to do. I got pictures and updates each day and I think the house was cleaner than when I left. Highly recommend.”

“Zoe was great with our very anxious dog. He warmed up to her quickly and was very happy and well taken care of while we were away. We would definitely recommend her and use her services again.”

“Caitlin was great! She sent updates on how our dogs were doing and checked in with any questions. Left our house well cared for, and I felt comfortable leaving my dogs with her.”

“Stephen took excellent care of our pets and our home. He stayed at our home for just over 3 weeks while we were out of the country and we had complete piece of mind with him taking care of our 3 cats and our dog. Stephen was very responsive and clear with communication. He also ensured that he visited a couple of times before house sitting so that our anxious dog would be more comfortable with him. I completely recommend Stephen for your pet needs!”

“It was a pleasure to have Sam house/cat-sit for my little Hazel-nut. Sam was very responsive, thoughtful, friendly, kind, responsible, reliable and did a wonderful job. She sent fun updates and photos of Hazel which was very much appreciated. She was also patient with Hazel when she bapped and knocked over her tablet because she wanted attention and to be fed waaaayyyy too early. Sam was very considerate and washed her bedding and towels, which wasn’t expected but a very thoughtful thing to do. I would definitely recommend Sam and I would also book her again. Thank you Sam! -Hazel & Harmony 😻”

“Carmen was fantastic. She took great care of our animals when we went away. She provided lots of updates and photos and videos. She gave the animals grace and time to adjust to us being away and a new person being in the house. She also communicated with us clearly regarding any concerns she had and showed great compassion for our very senior kitty. Our pets seemed to like her a lot as well, including our dog who can be quite sensitive. We were very comfortable and happy with our experience and would recommend Carmen for sure.”

“Lyra was, without a doubt, the most skilled, patient and friendly dog sitter (and trainer!!!) we have EVER had. Our dogs adored her, and she went above and beyond to train our new rescue dog, working on his fears, barking and leash pulling. I didn’t worry once about either dog, we were updated frequently with pics and training progress, and we came home to HAPPY, brushed dogs and a spotlessly clean house. I can’t recommend Lyra enough!!! Amazing.”
“Had Catherine house and pet sit for the first time. Extremely happy. Sent many pictures to keep up in touch and the house was nice and clean when we arrived home. Will definitely be using her again.”

Jessica and Keziah took such wonderful care of our beloved cat Timber and our home while we were away. Timber isn’t your typical cat, he loves to be around people. They made sure that he had company, cuddles, play time and cares It was so nice to see what they were up to and picture of my boy. Thank you Jessica and Keziah!!!

Sara took really good care of Winston and Fin. They bounded with her right away and were zen throughout the stay. She’s professional, friendly, provides regular updates, fed Winston’s supplements twice a day and spent her time caring and entertaining them. I will definitely rebook with Sara and recommend her for your next house sitting needs.

Aline was the best pet sitter we could have asked for! We adopted Bubba not too long ago, so we weren’t sure how he would react staying with someone else. To our surprise, Bubba has never seemed so loved, cared for, and comfortable while we were away. We absolutely loved receiving all the pictures and videos. They gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to truly enjoy our trip worry-free, knowing he was in such great hands. As a bonus, not only did Aline take care of Bubba, but we also came home to a spotless house. That’s certainly not something we expected or that comes with pet sitting. Bubba can’t wait to hang out with Aline again! 🥰

I was kind of hesitant to use this app but we were kind of desperate, we had an emergency and we had to leave. I am so glad I found Saghar. Response was fast and professional, she indeed ask the right questions and she agreed to have a pre-meeting which was a very good sign. She's a very sweet, polite and well spoken girl and you can tell her she really loves animals right away. She gives us peace of mind after meeting her. When we came back from our trip our house was spotless and the kitties anxiety free like nothing happened. She sent lots of updates and cool pictures of our cats and their activities. Even one of our antisocial cats was even letting her pet her all over! I'm impressed, I definitely booked her again, I'm truly grateful for her great job taking care of my fur babies. Can't thank you enough.

Rachel is the best. She was so great with my dogs. She is excellent at communication and really took care of my dogs while she was here. She helped me out of a tough situation when I had to extend my stay out of town. Austin and bunny were in great hands and can't wait to hang out with her again!

This was our first time having someone housesit for us, and Megan made the process so easy! We have a new kitten who gets quite anxious when we leave, and Megan did an awesome job keeping her entertained and content. She provided the appropriate amount of updates on the cats and was super responsive throughout. We are super grateful to Megan for taking care of our little ones (and our house) - highly recommend!

10/10! Nadia did a fantastic job watching over our home and animals while we were out of the country for 10 days. We have a very energetic, 80 pound golden doodle and senior cat. Nadia followed their routines to a T and sent the loveliest updates. It was clear they were happy, well exercised and given lots of love when we returned. Our new go to sitter!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edmonton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edmonton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edmonton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
