“We couldn't be happier with Ashley's service. She is incredibly pleasant to work with and is caring and attentive to Gus, our big old Bull Mastiff. They clearly enjoy each other. She also took good care of our home and left it neat and tidy. We have complete peace of mind while we are away and able to enjoy our holiday without worry. We recommend her highly to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!”
“This was my first time using Rover to find someone to look after my little girl. Amanda was great with her. I got pictures and updates. If I asked a question or checked in she was great at getting back to me. I was able to enjoy my brother's wedding with no worries about my girl. I will definitely be using her for anytime I plan on going away.”

“Ana took such an amazing care of our little Luna! While we were away to Mexico for a family vacation, Ana made sure to let us know how Luna was doing and shared photos of her which we appreciated much. We would love a future sitting with Ana’s family!”

“Jasmine has excellent communication with a wholesome heart, kind personality, and comforting way about her right from the first meeting. Jasmine stepped up beyond my expectation and was able to show positivity, compassion and maturity while also thinking ahead and outside of the box which proved to me that my pets were in good and very capable hands. Looking forward to choosing her to care for our pets in the future! Highly recommend.”

About: I have pet sit for a wide variety of friends and family with all different kind of animals. Dogs most frequently to cats and even birds. I work full time Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm. My work will in office Monday to Thursday starting July 20th, 2026. I will only be home Friday for work. I do my best to tailor my routine to your pets needs. I know how Important it is to keep a pets routine the same.
About: I have plenty of experience housesitting for friends and looking after my own doggies. I love gardening and endeavour to keep plants happy. I like keeping my environment clean and tidy, and am more than happy to run any errands that are required in the owner's absence (e.g. scheduled grooming for pets, routine checkups, putting bins out etc.). I have volunteered with DRU (local animal shelter) in the past as part of the bird and chicken team - poultry are full on! This gave me more experience in administering medication (to peacocks!), cleaning animals and identifying any issues, and cleaning out pens and enclosures. I’m currently based in Calgary - I am available for morning and afternoon check ins and walks on weekdays and weekends, as I work remotely on weekdays between 8pm and midnight. I try to make sure pets keep to their routines! Having their families go away is stressful enough. I like to have a fair amount of info on your pets behaviours, routines, and things they like to do so they can be as comfortable as can be in your absence.
“Adrianna came to my house and stayed 2 nights over Christmas! My dogs absolutely adored her and from the many update photos she sent me, they were at complete ease! Being this is my first time away from them I also had ease with the constant updates and easy communication! Would definitely recommend Adrianna for your pet sitting needs!!”

“This was the second time we had Nathan stay with our dogs but won’t be the last. Nathan is very considerate and sends pictures throughout the day. Some are even good enough to frame ❤️. We’ve already rebooked Nathan for this weekend.”

“Zoe was great with our very anxious dog. He warmed up to her quickly and was very happy and well taken care of while we were away. We would definitely recommend her and use her services again.”

About: I’ve taken care of animals my whole life since I was around 4. I’ve been surrounded by cats and dogs, giving me lots of experience! I’ve had both cats and dogs my entire life, I’ve taken care of their daily needs since I was 10 years old. I make sure to have my schedule fit with letting my dogs out and feeding my animals. I am the biggest animal lover, I will spend time with dogs and cats over humans most of the time. I always keep an eye on the animals I’m taking care of, and I will always follow their schedules and needs!
“We were so thankful to have Ava housesit our dog Buddy and cat Bear while we were away for a few days! She was very kind, her communication was excellent, and she obviously cares a lot about animals and making your pets feel loved. Will absolutely book her again and would recommend her to anyone else!”
“Little did we know when we left on the Friday of a long weekend that we were not only leaving Ankita to look after our dogs, but also to weather one of the biggest storms in Ottawa history and look after our home as well. We are beyond grateful for Ankita and her husband for making sure we came home from our trip to a clean house and well looked after pups. Thank you Ankita, we would happily have you stay at our home again.”

“This is the second time we’ve used Sara for petsitting our two high energy dogs during week-long vacations. On both occasions, we have come home to happy pups and a clean house. I tend to be an anxious pet parent but feel much more comfortable leaving my dogs in Sara’s care. We would highly recommend her services and will be going back to her for future petting needs.”

“What a godsend Nicholas was for our pups! Our trip away had stressful events, but the care of Pepper and Layla back home wasn’t one. It is clear that Nick adores the company of dogs, and our pups felt the same about him. Also, he could easily handle the 170 lbs of dogs for walks; that is a rare quality in dog sitters. He was communicative, and sent photo and video updates. We will definitely hire Nicholas again.”

“Clare took great care of our kitties and home while we were away - she has a gentle and calm presence and we felt safe and assured that she would well-manage things. We came home to a tidy house and happy cats!”

“Jo was great! I felt immediately comfortable with her taking care of our dog and cat during our meet-n-greet. She kept in frequent communication with us and gave great updates with awesome photos. 100% would recommend :)”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Laurel
Jasmine was fantastic. She is so easy going and made me feel at ease trusting her in my home with my animals. She wasn’t bothered at all that my house is undergoing renovations which was also such a relief as the environment isn’t super “homey” at the moment. My dog Woody is at the senior stage of his life and although he is very gentle he requires some extra care and can be prone to incontinence. Jasmine was very sensitive to his needs and ensured he was given appropriate care. I am very thankful for her help and look forward to having her back again! Highly recommend her to all pet owners :)

I have never felt more at ease leaving my dog with someone. Kelcy was so professional and kept us very up to date while we were away. Our boy seemed extremely happy and well taken care of. Every picture he had a huge smile on his face. She was able to also provide some extra attention and dietary needs when it came to dealing with a big dog with arthritis. We can't wait for her to stay again and watch him. Feels good to know he is in very good hands when we aren't around.

Olivia was very professional. Easy to get along with. And most importantly did awesome with our mile long list of instructions we left. Also had to administer ear drops, and pills for our dog Haley. She took Haley for a walk. Not too mention went over and above, leaving our house VERY clean. Vacuumed, stripped the bed, kitchen was sparkling etc. HIGHLY recommend her services. We will definitely look her up before our next vacation!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Laurel maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Laurel walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Laurel choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
