“Courtney stayed with our golden retriever Chester for 4 days this month. This is just one of many times we have been lucky enough to book Courtney. We never worry about Chester being walked, fed and played with. He is always a happy pup and loves to share his toys with her. She takes excellent care of the house and leaves it exactly as you left it. We highly recommend Courtney and have actually already booked again.”

“This was the second time we had Nathan stay with our dogs but won’t be the last. Nathan is very considerate and sends pictures throughout the day. Some are even good enough to frame ❤️. We’ve already rebooked Nathan for this weekend.”

“We were so thankful to have Ava housesit our dog Buddy and cat Bear while we were away for a few days! She was very kind, her communication was excellent, and she obviously cares a lot about animals and making your pets feel loved. Will absolutely book her again and would recommend her to anyone else!”
“Carmen was wonderful with my pets and even though I was gone for only one day, she made sure to send lots of updates and videos. I was able to relax and not worry about anything back home!”

“Thadora did a wonderful job both in taking care of Georgie, our cat, and the house. She was very reliable and kept in touch with pictures and messages. Georgie was a very happy cat!”

“Kianna is awesome! She did a great job looking after our fur baby. Communication and daily update photos were great and gave us peace of mind while that our little dude was well cared for while we were away.”

“Czabrina is amazing! She has watched our senior dog twice now and we already have her booked for a third. She’s very easy to communicate with, with fast responses. We come home to a clean house, a happy dog and she is easy going when plans change. We highly recommend her.”

“Emily did an amazing job of looking after my dog while I was away for a week. She kept me up to date with lots of pictures to put my mind at ease while I was away. She also provided my dog with her medications. I came back to a healthy and happy dog who got loads of attention. She also managed household issues. I would definitely have Emily look after my pet again.”

“Sam has been amazing with our anxious pup. She was very patient; over the course of the stay he really warmed up to her. She was great with keeping us updated on how he was doing and kept our house very clean. We will definitely hire her again!”

“What a godsend Nicholas was for our pups! Our trip away had stressful events, but the care of Pepper and Layla back home wasn’t one. It is clear that Nick adores the company of dogs, and our pups felt the same about him. Also, he could easily handle the 170 lbs of dogs for walks; that is a rare quality in dog sitters. He was communicative, and sent photo and video updates. We will definitely hire Nicholas again.”

“Zoe was great with our very anxious dog. He warmed up to her quickly and was very happy and well taken care of while we were away. We would definitely recommend her and use her services again.”

“Darlene is great at what she does. She has taken care of our home and pets twice now, and we love her. She updates us as needed. She takes care of the place and leaves no foot print. We are so lucky too have known her, and will continue to hire her services. Our dogs love her.”

“Catherine was great. Our 2 dogs and cat loved her. She was very communicative and sent tons of pictures, which our daughter loved. Definitely will book her again.”

“I highly recommend Lyra for dog sitting, walks and training. Communication was great, we got pictures everyday along with an update. Our dog absolutely loved her and I felt peace of mind knowing she was so well taken care of. Lyra helped reinforce good behaviour on walks and in the house and we came home to a very happy dog and a clean house. We would definitely book Lyra again in the future!”

“Jasmine has excellent communication with a wholesome heart, kind personality, and comforting way about her right from the first meeting. Jasmine stepped up beyond my expectation and was able to show positivity, compassion and maturity while also thinking ahead and outside of the box which proved to me that my pets were in good and very capable hands. Looking forward to choosing her to care for our pets in the future! Highly recommend.”

“Ana took such an amazing care of our little Luna! While we were away to Mexico for a family vacation, Ana made sure to let us know how Luna was doing and shared photos of her which we appreciated much. We would love a future sitting with Ana’s family!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Maple Ridge
I have never felt more at ease leaving my dog with someone. Kelcy was so professional and kept us very up to date while we were away. Our boy seemed extremely happy and well taken care of. Every picture he had a huge smile on his face. She was able to also provide some extra attention and dietary needs when it came to dealing with a big dog with arthritis. We can't wait for her to stay again and watch him. Feels good to know he is in very good hands when we aren't around.

Olivia was very professional. Easy to get along with. And most importantly did awesome with our mile long list of instructions we left. Also had to administer ear drops, and pills for our dog Haley. She took Haley for a walk. Not too mention went over and above, leaving our house VERY clean. Vacuumed, stripped the bed, kitchen was sparkling etc. HIGHLY recommend her services. We will definitely look her up before our next vacation!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maple Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maple Ridge walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maple Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
