“Dhalia and her family were so amazing for my 2 yr old German Shepherd x. I got lots of pictures and communication while she was in their care which was so valuable. She came home just as perfect as when she left and I am so happy and honored to fully recommend Dhalia for your overnight needs.”

“Jinny is an amazing sitter. Very patient and kind to my puppy. It’s my puppy’s first time ever to stay at another house snd Jinny made her feel at home. She sends videos and pictures and updates every single day which took our worries away. Her kids are amazing too snd showed my puppy some love by playing and feeling her. Definitely will go back to her. Two thumbs up the way she took care of my dog. The bathing/grooming is a plus factor for Jinny. Very satisfied and happy with Jinny. :)”

“Trish is an excellent dog sitter. It’s clear from the moment you meet her that she absolutely adores animals and will treat your fur babies like her own. Our dogs immediately took a liking to her and always seem to be having a great time when she sends us photos and videos. As pet parents who find it very difficult to leave our dogs, Trish has been a godsend!”

“This was our first experience with Rover. Yvonne took excellent care of our dachshund for the week we were on holidays. We got daily updates with pics. Would definitely book again and recommend her to anyone.”

“Angelica was very good to my dog, took really good care of him when boarding and took my request on short notice. it was only his second overnight stay with someone he didn’t know and he was comfortable enough with her to sleep in her bed cuddling, so I know he was treated with love and respect .”

“Absolutely wonderful. Felt like family taking care of my beloved fuzzy family. I was able to enjoy my holiday without any worries; lots of photos and updates! Highly recommend”

“Our dogs were in great hands and were very happy with Ashley! She communicated and sent photos. When I picked them up everything was organized and clean, both pups were well groomed. Thank you”

“Sherrie and her family were amazing with our pups. We could sense how comfortable our pups were with them and it was evident how well cared for and loved our pups were, while in their care. During pickup, after their initial excitement of seeing us, our younger pup tried to follow Sherrie back into her home as she went in to get their bag. This is a glowing endorsement for us as he normally sticks to is like glue! Sherrie also provided daily text and/or photo updates which put our minds at ease. This was our first Rover booking and we were unsure of what to expect, but seeing our pups looking so relaxed and happy confirmed that we had found a perfect home/pet sitting family for our pups. We have already booked our second stay with Sherrie and we hope that we she will always be available when we need to book a stay on Rover.”

“Karen and Dan were absolutely wonderful with our puppies, Zuri and Rafiki! From the moment we dropped them off, it was clear they truly care about the dogs they host. They were so accommodating with our schedule and very attentive to Zuri and Rafiki’s needs. We were so happy to see how comfortable our pups were with Karen & Dan, and how much they enjoyed being out in the big back yard. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in such loving hands. We can’t recommend Karen and Dan enough — we’ll definitely be booking with them again!”

“We've returned multiple times now and haven't ever had a single issue, great communication and always video updates on how our pup is doing through the day and night, much appreciated Karyn!”

About: Animals have been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with dogs and cats, and I’ve shared my home with beloved cats for most of my adult life. Over the years I’ve also co-habited with small and medium dogs, cared for senior pets, and supported many animals through the last gentle stages of their lives. My professional background is in environmental science (35 years), a path I chose out of love and devotion to animals, wildlife, and the natural world. Outside of work, I spent years volunteering with animals — from supporting elephants and reptiles at the Valley Zoo to caring for over 70 elephants at an orphanage in Sri Lanka. I even trained one elephant, Devi, to paint using positive reinforcement. I’ve also cared for small exotic pets, including ball pythons and a garter snake. Today, I bring all of that experience into calm, compassionate, reliable pet care for dogs, cats, and small animals. I’m gentle, observant, patient, and very attuned to the emotional needs of animals — especially seniors or those who are shy, anxious, or needing extra support. Skills & Care Abilities: Administering medications with confidence: pills, injections, liquid meds via syringe, and puffers for dogs and cats Handling senior or special-needs pets with patience and gentleness Cat nail trims Dog bathing and brushing; cat brushing (hairless cat bathing and grooming) Experience with freshwater and saltwater aquariums Comfortable with reptiles and other small animals Master Gardener/Composter certified (City of Edmonton) — happy to care for plants, yards, and gardens as well Calm, confident, experienced around all animal personalities Clear communication and daily updates I’m recently retired, which allows me to offer steady, unhurried, fully present care for the animals I look after. When I’m not volunteering in Asia or Costa Rica, I work quietly from home doing computer-based volunteer work — which means your pet will have company, consistency, and a peaceful environment throughout the day. Because my schedule is flexible, I’m able to take dogs out for frequent walks, playtime, and pee breaks, tailored to their age and energy level. I’m equally happy to spend long, calm stretches with small dogs or cats curled up on my lap. I genuinely enjoy the simple companionship of animals, whether that means gentle snuggles, quiet presence, or attentive support for senior pets needing extra patience. My home routine is calm, predictable, and nurturing — ideal for pets who thrive with kindness, attentiveness, and a steady rhythm. Because I specialise in caring for cats and small dogs in their own familiar environment, my focus is always on creating a safe, calm, and reassuring experience for your pet while you’re away. In Your Home (House Sitting & In-Home Care) Your pet’s comfort and routine come first. I follow your instructions closely — feeding times, walks, medications, bedtime rituals, favourite toys, and comfort preferences. I maintain a quiet, predictable environment, and I am attentive to small changes in behaviour, appetite, or energy level. I double-check doors, gates, and windows to prevent escapes I ensure safe handling during comings and goings I keep a tidy, hazard-free space I send regular updates with photos so you always feel connected I provide lots of gentle companionship, cuddles, lap time, and enrichment Cats and small dogs often bond quickly with me due to my calm presence and decades of experience. Drop-In Visits For drop-ins, I offer flexible, attentive care — feeding, litter cleaning, short walks, medication administration, brushing, playtime, or simply quiet company if your pet prefers. I take care to observe how your pet is feeling each visit and adjust my approach accordingly. Overall Approach With lifelong experience with animals — including senior pets, pets needing medication, and shy or anxious animals — I bring patience, reliability, and a gentle, steady energy. My background in environmental science and animal care has taught me to be observant, respectful, and attentive to detail. Your home and your pet are treated with the utmost care, respect, and kindness.
“Ranjha loved staying with Rufana! For a high energy dog, she made sure he got lots of exercise as well as cuddles! Rufana was consistent with updates which always makes us feel better! Would definitely take Ranjha back.”

“Dylan was great with rocky and most likely the only person I trust to watch him now. He gives all the attention my pup needed and more. Rocky absolutely loves him and I know he cant wait to go back !”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Maple Ridge
I had such a great experience! They were able to take Ted on short notice, which I really appreciated, especially since I needed care for several days. They kept me updated the whole time with lots of photos and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was obvious that Ted was well looked after, loved, and having a great time. They were so kind, welcoming, and reassuring from start to finish. I’m so happy to have Ted home, and I know he had an amazing stay. I would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone who will genuinely care for their pet.

My cats had a wonderful stay with Nichole. This was the longest that I had ever left my girls, and Nichole was wonderful about sending pictures and little anecdotes every couple of day. I could see that they were doing well, and being well cared for. Thank you Nichole.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
