“I was nervous to leave for a night without my dogs. Ava had fantastic communication while we were away and kept me up to date. When I came home my puppies were happy and seemed to be at ease. Unfortunately she had to deal with my dog making a mess, and she dealt with it without any hesitation and was understanding. 10/10 Would recommend!”

“Nathaniel was so great. He stayed at our house with our anxious dog for a week and was able to build a good relationship with her. He followed our scheduled, gave her lots of exercise, and took great care of our house. He even went above and beyond ensuring that our house remained "viewing ready" as it was for sale while he was there. We are really happy with Nathaniel and his care of our little girl and home. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great pet/home sitter.”

“Carmen Did a wonderful time taking care of my Border Colie when I was away on my family vacation! Providing him with lots of cuddles and love, sending me photos daily, even took out trash for me, keeping the place in a hygentic environment! 10/10”

“Thadora did a wonderful job both in taking care of Georgie, our cat, and the house. She was very reliable and kept in touch with pictures and messages. Georgie was a very happy cat!”

“Ashley took great care of of dog Leia and cat Oscar while we were away for an extended long weekend. She respected our home and sent regular update and pics. Thanks Ashley!”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Samana! I was away for 10 days, and she took amazing care of my two cats and my home. Every day, she sent me plenty of updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My cats absolutely love her — they looked so happy and relaxed when I got back! She’s caring, responsible, and truly goes above and beyond. I highly recommend Samana to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their pets and home.”

“Lyra was, without a doubt, the most skilled, patient and friendly dog sitter (and trainer!!!) we have EVER had. Our dogs adored her, and she went above and beyond to train our new rescue dog, working on his fears, barking and leash pulling. I didn’t worry once about either dog, we were updated frequently with pics and training progress, and we came home to HAPPY, brushed dogs and a spotlessly clean house. I can’t recommend Lyra enough!!! Amazing.”
“This was my first time using Rover to find someone to look after my little girl. Amanda was great with her. I got pictures and updates. If I asked a question or checked in she was great at getting back to me. I was able to enjoy my brother's wedding with no worries about my girl. I will definitely be using her for anytime I plan on going away.”

“We booked Jasmine to house sit our pup Lenny while we were on holidays for a week. Jasmine was very professional during the booking process, very kind during our initial meet and greet and provided regular updates with pictures throughout our time away. I felt confident that Lenny was in good hands while we were away, which was reassuring. She left the house in great condition as well! Would recommend Jasmine and will use her for future bookings!”

“Alyssa was great with our dog and house for 2 weeks while away. We received pictures and videos of her walking him daily. He was well taken care of. Our house was spotless when we returned.”

“It was so nice to come home after a 10 day vacation to happy puppies and a clean house! Thank you Sam for allowing us to have an amazing vacation knowing our dogs were being well taken care of.”

“Ana and her brother are very good with my dog Maui. They have helped out many times last minute and always give lots of updates. Would highly recommend booking with Ana!”

“Melicia had previously helped us by visiting our old cat in our absence. This time I asked her to stay in our place and take care of our cat for a few weeks. Melicia went above and beyond the care we asked; indeed, I asked her a few times not to spend this much energy and not to be concerned about our old kitty! You can definitely trust Melicia and I strongly recommend her. Thanks Melicia!”

“Can’t say enough on how great it was to have Danielle step up and take care of our Maddie on short notice. We will definitely look to book Danielle again She took great care of 8 yr old “pup” and treated her so good and followed the post op instructions we provided thanks again Danielle!”

“We have had Saoirse come and stay with our two dogs and 1 cat a couple of times now. She is very good with them and keeps us posted with pictures and updates daily. We highly recommend her!”

“Zoe took great care of our Jasper and our home. She graciously got his pills into him even when he was a grump and she sent lots of updates and pictures to keep us in the loop while we were away.”

“Cassidy did a great job house sitting for us. Her knowledge and experience helped ease our concerns while away. She went above expected duties in cleaning up after some illness from one of our cats and administered meds as needed. She is punctual and communicative and follows directions well. We would look to have her house sit again at a future date.”
About: I recently lost my 14 year old senior dog who had been blind for the last four years of his life. We managed walks with the use of bells on my laces. I was his seeing eye human! I have raised dogs from puppies. I have had dogs in all of the off-leash parks in Edmonton and surrounding areas. I am an incredibly active person who loves the outdoors and the river valley. I’m available for boarding on the weekends and live close to walking trails, the river valley and dog parks. I love to be outside and active but I also love to sew and quilt so my home is very peaceful. I would take the dogs for regular long walks. I have a dog park across the street from me and I am within walking distance of the river valley and some of the ravines. I would take care of your pet as you ask. If you use a kennel, I would do the same. If you have rules for the pets I would respect and abide by them.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wild Rose
Jasmine was fantastic. She is so easy going and made me feel at ease trusting her in my home with my animals. She wasn’t bothered at all that my house is undergoing renovations which was also such a relief as the environment isn’t super “homey” at the moment. My dog Woody is at the senior stage of his life and although he is very gentle he requires some extra care and can be prone to incontinence. Jasmine was very sensitive to his needs and ensured he was given appropriate care. I am very thankful for her help and look forward to having her back again! Highly recommend her to all pet owners :)

I have never felt more at ease leaving my dog with someone. Kelcy was so professional and kept us very up to date while we were away. Our boy seemed extremely happy and well taken care of. Every picture he had a huge smile on his face. She was able to also provide some extra attention and dietary needs when it came to dealing with a big dog with arthritis. We can't wait for her to stay again and watch him. Feels good to know he is in very good hands when we aren't around.

Olivia was very professional. Easy to get along with. And most importantly did awesome with our mile long list of instructions we left. Also had to administer ear drops, and pills for our dog Haley. She took Haley for a walk. Not too mention went over and above, leaving our house VERY clean. Vacuumed, stripped the bed, kitchen was sparkling etc. HIGHLY recommend her services. We will definitely look her up before our next vacation!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wild Rose maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wild Rose walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wild Rose choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
