“Megan went above and beyond while watching our cat and dog while we were away! We were nervous about having someone new watching them but Megan is so kind and was so good at sending updates and photos. Our pets absolutely loved her and I would highly recommend her!”

“We had Samantha watch our two dogs and stay at our place while we were away for a week. We were a little nervous to leave our dogs at first but we are so grateful for Samantha and the amazing care she provided while we were away. One of our pups wasn’t feeling well, and she made sure he was well cared for and stopped at our vets to pick up some medication for him. Knowing our dogs were well cared for gave us great peace of mind. On top of that, we came home to a spotless house. Thank you Samantha for watching our boys!”

“Angie was amazing! She was very patient and accommodating with our anxious dog Mitzi and gave her so much love and attention. It was clear Angie really loves spending time with dogs and did a wonderful job caring for Mitzi. She also had great communication with us during the trip and sent us lots of updates, photos and videos. Would definitely rehire and recommend!”

“Joy watched our two beagles for us overnight while we had our wedding, we’ve never left our dogs home alone over night with anyone but family before but Joy made us feel so at ease. The dogs love her so much, and she sent multiple check ins with a bunch of photos as well. It made my wedding day so much more at ease knowing my fur babies were well taken care of. HIGHLY recommend, she’s amazing! 🤍”

“Marilyn was an exceptionally patient and comforting stand in mom for our 16 year old partially deaf, mostly blind little Bichon Shitzu. In our 2 week absence she updated us and sent pictures almost every day which helped ease our anxiety about leaving her. With a nursing background Marilyn was at ease administering the 2 medications our little one needed. Highly recommended!!”

“Kat has sat for our dog a few times now and she is consistently reliable, had great communication and takes excellent care of our dog and home. She treats our dog as if it's her own and goes the extra mile every time. We're so grateful for Kat. I highly recommend Kat for sitting, walks and general pet care.”

“Ashton was wonderful. She took my 3 dogsfor walks, played fetch & sent picture updates even watered my plants and we came home to happy pups and a clean home. We will book again!!!”

About: I have experience with different animals from small dogs to larger breeds > 100lbs I don’t have any pets of my own but I have volunteered at animal shelters walking dogs and giving pets and cuddles to the cats I enjoy walking in the river valley, checking out new neighbourhoods, hiking, and taking advantage of any opportunity to be around animals I am currently working part-time/ casual so my schedule varies but I mostly work evenings and have mornings and weekends off. If there is a stretch of time that will be needed, I can accommodate if sufficient notice is given I would ensure the dog is given a long/short walk depending on needs, letting out to use the bathroom and routine feeding. Lots of play time with balls or toys Cats- I will cuddle or play with your cat(s), feed if needed, clean litter as well
“Maria was great with our 2 year old dog and four degus (rodents)! Our dog loved her, Maria sent plenty of cute pictures and kept us well updated throughout the housesit. Will definitely be booking her again!”

“Catherine watched our three pups while out of town for a hockey tournament. She sent lots of photos and videos and kept us updated on how they were doing. They're normally super excited to see us when we get home but based on the attention they got from Catherine, it's like we never left. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Catherine again and definitely will.”

“Michelle is not only warm and friendly, she had an instant connection with our really anxious dog. She ensured he had lots of things to do, took him out everywhere and sent us regular updates and pics. Recommend Michelle 100%.”

“Janessa did a great job caring for my 3 cats and 1 dog while apartment sitting as well. She was reliable, respectful of my home, and my pets were happy and well cared for when I returned. I really appreciated the peace of mind while I was away and photo updates. I would definitely book her again!”

“This was a last minute booking and we very much appreciate Tina’s/Jeremy’s flexibility. Tina loves our Willow and Willow feels great after seeing her. We will continue to use Tina in the future!”

“Emma was fantastic. She took care of our pets while we had a weekend away. She communicated clearly and consistently, and sent photo updates as well. Our pets were happy and relaxed when we came home. Our dog, who can be timid and unsure, seemed very happy with Emma. Would recommend and would use her again!”

Megan did an outstanding job taking care of our 2 dogs and home while we were away! Daily walks for the dogs, lots of cuddles & excellent communication including photos of the shennanigans 2 dogs bring. We couldn't be happier with this young ladies services and will not hesitate to invite her back for our next time away.

This was the first time I left Oso with someone who is nor family and I was so reassured and put at ease with Valentina. She kept mostly to hus usual schedule and spent time with him! He seemed happy when I got back! She also was super helpful with and issue with the house that saved me having to cancel my trip! I know my Oso woukd def ha g out with her again!

We are sooooooo happy Erica was petsitting for us! We felt so safe knowing she was taking care of our pets. She did an absolutely fantastic job, sending updates and photos and always responding quickly to any questions. Our cat had a vet visit just prior to us going on vacation and Erica was great giving her the meds while we were away also. This is the first time we've used a pet sitter and we're so happy we found Erica. Much better for our animals staying in their own home, and the quality of care Erica provides is exceptional! Our dog was looking for her when we came home! Our flight was delayed on the last part of our journey home, and Erica kept in constant contact to make sure our pets would still be looked after if we weren't able to get back the same day. We highly recommend Erica, and would absolutely book her pet sitting services again! Thank you, Erica for looking after our pets as though they were your own. We're so grateful for the care and attention you gave our pets. They miss you already!

What a gem!! Sydney did an outstanding job taking care of our pets, her love of animals is apparent from the onset. She was very helpful with ensuring they had lots of exercise and kept to their routine. Sydney is very reliable, trustworthy, and was excellent with communication and photos!! We feel so fortunate to have finally connected with Sydney, knowing that our future travel will be worry-free.

Alyssa has a calm, kind way with dogs and seems to know intuitively what they need. Sadie is a very anxious little dog who suffers from separation anxiety and it was the first time we left her with a sitter. Sadie got along very well because Alyssa knew how to engage her, and even took her for a second walk when she saw that Sadie was getting agitated. Lovely person and highly recommended.

Julia is an absolutely amazing dog sitter! We had some major health issues pop up right before leaving and Julia took everything in stride, including around the clock medication administration and doing her best to follow all care instructions. I won’t be booking any other dog sitters before checking with Julia first.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in St. Albert maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred St. Albert walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in St. Albert choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
