About: Hello, I am a local who lives full time in Tahoe City. I've been a pet owner with both dogs and cats for the last 30+years. I am a mother of two grown children that are now off away at school. I work at the local elementary school with young children of special needs. I am a fun, caring and loving person who loves both animals and humans. I don't have any pets living with me so your pet would be the only one I would be caring for. I am free to take care of your pet most days, nights and some weekends. I work from home during the summer months so my schedule is always flexible. I currently live in a condo down the street from Lake Tahoe. There are numerous parks at the lake as well as many hiking trails to walk your dog at that are close by my place. I will always walk your dogs on a leash unless otherwise informed by owner to let run free in the woods and trails. I am very safe and responsible.

About: I'm Rachel, a writer with a flexible schedule and a love of all things canine. I live with my husband, and my chocolate Labrador retriever, Ellie, in our West Shore cabin near Homewood. I signed up for Rover because dog sitting helps me get my fix for having a doggy harem. I would love to shower your dog with attention and affection. I volunteer at the local humane society, so I'm very adept at adapting to your dog's needs. I particularly love active dogs, and I'm happy to take your pup on hikes and swims in the lake. I'm also happy to hang out and have a more relaxing day with older, less active pups. Ellie (13) is very well-socialized, and she gets along well with dogs of all sizes. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I’m always happy to go out for a walk or a hike. Ellie, my 13-year-old Lab, is always up for meeting a new dog friend. Daycare Rates & Information: Daycare is up to 8 hours of care. Anything longer than that time, please book a boarding stay. Drop-offs anytime after 8 a.m. Pickups before 8 p.m. Although there is a nice buffer of woods near my house, the yard is not fenced (hopefully soon). I’ll be sure to keep your pup on a leash just in case! There’s an enclosed deck for sunbathing and watching chipmunks.
“Melissa is the best. We are so grateful we found her to take our pup. Tootsie always comes home happy and well taken care of. Melissa makes it so easy to leave her knowing she is in great hands.”

“Kathy was wonderful with our pup! She sent the sweetest photo updates of their adventures, and it seemed like he was having the best time. We will definitely reach out to Kathy again!”

“Westin wasn’t available over my dates but his parents stepped in to care for Riggs and it was the perfect fit. Great communication and I could tell Riggs had a great and loving time. Will definitely reach out again.”

“It was very easy to book with Gabriel the day prior to my short trip to Tahoe. He was very responsive and flexible with both pick up and drop off. My 7 mo old puppy stayed for one night. I would book again if I do another quick trip to Tahoe.”

“Gissell is amazing! I had to drop my dog McGee off around 5:15am on a Friday and she was already up and excited to meet McGee! She sent pics throughout the day and I found out that he likes doing yoga! Thank you Gissell for your time! I hope to have him visit again soon.”

“Leilah was absolutely wonderful with our dogs! She was incredibly reliable, communicative, and clearly treated our pups like her own. I highly recommend her services and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Nayla has been great with our pup. I always get great pictures and reports on how he’s doing. They go for lots of walks and he comes home happy! She’s always flexible when she can be and has been great to work with. Nayla will definitely stay on our short list of people to trust our dog with!”

“My dog loved hanging out with Aaron and family for the week! Pictures and updates were sent everyday, and my buddy came back home happy with no problems. Very grateful to Aaron and Nicole for looking after him so well!!”

“Boarded my frenchie with Stephanie while staying in Tahoe, and loved the experience. She took great care of my pup, got her lots of playtime with others, and went for a few walks. Highly recommend!”

“Brett was awesome with my dog Scout. He was a great communicator and flexible with drop off time. Scout had a great time hanging with Brett at home watching sports and even went on two different hikes in the area. Scout came home exhausted and happy. Would definitely use Brett again !!”

About: We have taken care of animals all our lives and have a genuine love for each of them. We have experience with it all; new puppies and kittens, as well as older furry friends who may need special treatment and/or administering medication. Between the both of us, we always make it a priority to work with our pups with lots of playtime, exercise, training and socialization daily. We both are self employed and create our own schedules so we are flexible and work together to ensure our pets have an enjoyable & active day. We have a large dog-friendly fenced-in yard as well as amazing trails just outside our backdoor. Our Aussie-Border Collie mix, Penny is super friendly and submissive and gets along with everyone. She is super gentle when needed and can hold her own with larger dogs also. We have a very well socialized cat, Eleanor, who LOVES dogs and visitors.
“Nicole was amazing! She was able to take my puppy in last minute and I was very grateful for that. She made my puppy feel so loved! She was taking such good care of him and sent me pictures and updates about how their day was going. I definitely felt a sigh of relief knowing my puppy was happy and safe with her!”

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
