“You can really tell this family loves dogs! My two large breed dogs had a great stay with Matt and Sue. They were exhausted when we got home! Matt was very communicative and sent lots of pictures. His kids were very sweet with the dogs too. Highly recommend!”

“Wrigley didn’t want to leave! He had SO MUCH fun running in their huge fenced in backyard! Elizabeth’s dogs are so well behaved and socialized I feel like it helped Wrigley learn to socialize a little better too. They were so good with sending updates . It is such a relief to know we can travel and Wrigley will be well-loved and cared for! We will definitely use Elizabeth again, thank you!”

“Suzanne and her family are ideal Rover sitters--so welcoming, caring, and communicative. We received frequent updates and pictures of our dog while we were away, and were thankful to have found such a kind and responsible family to care for Roux while we traveled. We plan to book with Suzanne again!”

“Polly loved staying at Jerry's and having lots of doggy friends around 24/7. Great communication with Jerry and enjoyed the videos that he sent. Love that dogs can go into and out of the yard as they please. Loved that I didn't have to worry about Polly while I went out of town. Highly recommend!”

“Our goldendoodle stayed with Vanessa and her family for the second time last week and he had a great time! Vanessa sent several photos and updates every day and we could tell Luca felt right at home with plenty of attention and exercise. He loves to be outside so the huge back yard was perfect for fetching balls and playing with other dogs. We will definitely have Luca stay with Vanessa again when we’re out of town.”

“Paige was fantastic! She sent updates and pics everyday and our dog looked so happy every time. We were able to enjoy our vacation without having to worry at all. We will be rebooking her for all of our future trips!”

“Both Bicky and her partner were so welcoming and energetic, they maintained their place so clean and have a huge fenced backyard, which is really good for dogs to run and play fetch. They treated Simba as their own dog. They took care of him really well, we received updates with photos during his stay. Simba came back home so happy, doesn’t seem like he missed us or home at all.”

“For the weekend of March 20-22, we had such a good experience with Carlita watching our Lewey. You always feel a little nervous leaving your dog with someone for the first time, but she took good care of him. We so appreciated the regular updates of how he was doing. She kept us posted on his eating, playing and potty breaks so that we would know how he was doing and adjusting to a new environment. She took him on regular walks, ensured that he had playtime, and it was a plus that he had two other pups to play with. Carlita is professional, friendly and warm, and we would definitely recommend her. Thank you, Carlita, for taking time with Lewey while we were away.”

“Stacey did an awesome job watching our pup! I know our dog was at ease & comfortable with her which was super important to us. She would communicate with us throughout the day & send us many updates which we loved. Our dog can be a handful meeting other dogs and isn’t the best on the leash but Stacey did great with her! She gave her lots of loves and cuddles too which was so appreciated while we were away. We will absolutely be using her again in the future!!”

“I could tell right away that Charlie would be in good hands with Martine and Ronald. After a weekend getaway, Charlie was relaxed and happy! Martine and Ronald truly love dogs and I will definitely use them again.”

“Sally was great. She welcomed me into her home and showed me around. When I dropped my pup off, she communicated with me frequently and sent plenty of pictures. I will be booking her again for overnight stays.”

“Kimberly, Dustin and their son are amazing! They took such great care of our Aussie and I couldn’t recommend them enough. They sent lots of photos, walked, played and snuggled with our dog as if she was their own. They have a Aussie named scout who got along with Lily great and helped get her energy out. They were super accommodating for our early departure and late arrival which we truly appreciated. Again can’t recommend this family enough for watching your dog we will be rebooking them in the near future!”

“This was the first time Mia, our 14 year old pet, has ever spent the night away from family. I am thankful Mia was happy with her sitter, Michelle. Michelle sent us pictures and we were appreciative of how well Mia under the care of Michelle.”

About: I've had pets my entire life and have cared for puppies as young as 5 weeks old and kittens as young as 3 weeks old. I've also cared for older dogs who have needed help getting outside to use the bathroom. I now have 3 dogs of my own, all trained by me in basic obedience and loose leash walking manners. I have administered pills and syringe medications to multiple dogs(never cats, but I wouldn't be opposed, if you needed it done). I've also had 10+ hamsters (AT ONE TIME), 5 bunnies, a few guinea pigs, 2 ferrets, a chinchilla. I have also cared for reptiles; fed my friends' snake while they were on a month long honeymoon, my sister's leopard gecko, and my own bearded dragon. I have a very flexible schedule and work my other side jobs around my Rover schedule. My schedule is usually pretty open before 11am and after 2pm. Feel free to reach out and see if I have the specific times you need! I love your pets the way you do. I am a huge animal person and adore every animal I see. I follow your instructions to a T, be it feedings, walks, certain play regiments. I give dogs plenty of time to go potty during drop-ins. For walks, I try to spend as much time walking your dog as possible during the booking. I am super respectful of your home and am not nosey AT ALL, I hardly even know where people’s bathrooms are.

Great sitters! They were very accommodating when we had another sitter cancel on us last minute. They allowed us to meet beforehand to make sure our girl was comfortable with them. They sent photo updates every so often and our pupper looked happy, healthy and spoiled. Would definitely book again 🐶

We felt very comfortable with Mitzi and her wonderful family after our meet and greet. The dogs had ample room to play and lots of opportunities to be cuddled. She sent us pictures every day. Our only worry was that the dogs wouldn't want to come back home after all the attention they received.

Jett found his new best friends in this home! We did a meet and greet and they are so warm and welcoming. Their dog Autumn is super friendly also. I had no nervousness about them or their home or pet. Jett felt the same, it was instant comfort. Great communication for a first time stay :) Judy also let me know general details about dogs coming for day care while Jett would be there just for my awareness. Everything went well and they were so kind and flexible when my return flights got delayed!

Ahlana, did a fantastic job looking over my fur baby Spadey. He came back like his normal self where in the past with other sitters he came back anxious and bewildered. I wish I could have received more photos or videos during the stay, but that’s minor in comparison to my baby coming back happy.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
