About: Hi there! I'm Devika (she/her), and I also identify as certified dog aunt to all dogs in the land. In all seriousness, I feel very attuned to dogs specifically, even those with diverse temperaments and needs. I grew up with a family dog, a shih-tzu named Leo, who passed away after a beautiful 17 years. After graduating, I didn't have the resources to commit to a full-time dog as much as I love them. There began my fostering journey during which I cared for 10+ dogs (varied breeds, sizes, and ages), anywhere from a few days to several months. During their time with me as their foster mom, these pups were able to acclimate to domestic life and work towards getting ready for their forever homes. Each foster experience was unique and I learned something new from each pup. That curiosity and attentive care is what I bring to dog care. Outside of my endless love for pups, I am also a clinical psychology doctoral student which brings a whole other facet to my dog care. With my background in trauma, anxiety, and behavioral interventions, I also bring an astute and knowledgeable eye to caring for animals. This includes trauma-informed care (no restraints unless absolutely necessary for safety), thoughtful approaching, and gently authoritative training (only if indicated). Importantly, I completely respect the autonomy of pet-owners in how they want to raise and care for their pet, and will carry out duties to a tee. My top priority is for your pet to feel safe and loved, and for you to have peace of mind while you leave your baby in my care. Please reach out with any questions and I'd love to connect more! I am available on weeknights and weekends to for dog-walking, drop ins, and house sitting. I can dedicate my time to providing your animal with utmost care. I live close to Beaver Brook Reservation and am also able to go to more secluded areas if your dog is sensitive or has other needs. I provide updates during your pup's time with me and am a strong communicator about scheduling. I care for pets in a safe, thoughtful, and generous way. About: As a person who has spent most of my life with all kinds of animals, I am a big advocate for their emotional well-being. I would love to be that familiar face that soothes your dogs anxiety, someone s/he looks forward to seeing, not just for exercise and a bathroom break, but for human companionship. And truth be told, I'm in it for the exercise and four-legged companionship myself. After having pets all my life, I find myself without furry friends at the moment. I've parented three dogs, one cat, and five guinea pigs, and have sat with or boarded both dogs and cats for friends throughout my adult life, starting in college. Nothing is more important to me than their welfare and I can be trusted to keep them safe and happy. Each animal is an individual with his or her own biases, but I find that, in general, animals tend to gravitate towards and trust me. Our furry friend instantly took to him, which is always a good sign! He sent us amazing pictures and videos that felt like little stories - our cat’s own mini adventure series! About: I have incrementally dogsat for multiple family friends in the past over the last five or six years. This has often included staying with the dog overnight but I am willing and capable of just visiting for walks. I am currently a student at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
