“From the moment my dog Buddy met Nina, it was instant love. Usually he’s leery around strangers but having great communication with Nina prior to meeting in person, I’m sure Buddy picked up how comfortable and relaxed I was so in no time, he was taking treats from her hand. Nina has dog sat 2X and if my dog could speak, he would say, “Sheee’s Great!””

“We had such a great experience with Isabella! We usually travel with our senior pup, so leaving her for a week while we flew across the country was a little stressful. Isabella made us feel completely at ease with regular updates and lots of photos. We felt confident that our girl was getting all the love, attention, and extra care she needs at her age. We came home to a happy pup and would definitely book with her again!”

“Santiago was very flexible and available when I needed a last minute booking for a sitting. Zoey had a great visit and was well taken care of. Santiago made sure to have my place spick and span when I arrived home after a long day of travel and emotional weekend with my family. Most certainly would book again!”

“We had a great experience with Chris. I felt reassured by how conscientious and responsive he was to any questions or requests I had, especially as I have rarely left Henry with anyone. From the pictures Chris sent I could tell that Henry was relaxed and having fun with him. We look forward to having him take care of Henry again!”

“Brian has watched our Siberian cat twice now and been wonderful both times. He sent lots of cute photos of snuggling and playing and the house was spotless. He’s also just a really nice guy. Highly recommended!”

“Emily was amazing! Our pup Maple is our pride and joy so we always get nervous leaving her, but Emily took great care of her and sent plenty of pictures and updates that felt very reassuring! She was very respectful and attentive - seemed like Maple had a great time!”

“Connie was amazing handling my 3 high strung little dogs. She provided many updates and photos, giving me peace of mind and reassurance that all was well at home. Connie took excellent care of the house and was able to adjust her schedule to accommodate my travel needs. Love Connie for my babies. ♥️♥️”

“Donavan is outstanding! He took top-notch care of our puppies and house for nine nights of 24-hour care. I appreciated his VERY quick replies and willingness to regularly send me photos of the pups. Donovan's demeanor is kind, easy-going, and patient. Hopefully, Donovan will be available the next time I travel because he is the best.”

“Nevaeh did a wonderful job watching my little dogs! She was caring, professional and kind! She followed all of my instructions and she even took my trash bins in from the outside on trash day. My older dog wouldn’t go upstairs to the guest room with her so instead of leaving him alone downstairs she chose to sleep downstairs with him which was very sweet. Everything was left perfectly clean and Punky and Wilbur were so well taken care of and happy. Thank you so much for your excellent care, Nevaeh!!”

“Hanna took such great care of our dogs while we were away. She kept us updated with messages and photos, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our trip knowing they were safe and happy at home. She was thoughtful, dependable, and clearly cares about the animals she looks after. We never had to worry about them for a moment. We are incredibly grateful for her help and would happily have her watch our dogs again.”

“Savannah is always so happy to spend time with our little Riley! 🐶 She is thoughtful and communicative as well. Zero hesitation in recommending her to spend time with your fur babies and your home.”

“Ben waa promt arriving to care for our 3 month old puppy at pur hotel...aside from him suffering a puppy scratch, they had a great afternoon. Fritz was fed/watered/pottied/walked/played with and generally well cared for, for 6 hours! We give Ben ????? (5 paws/stars)!”

“Berkleigh is amazing. She not only took care of our golden but she took care of our home too. She was amazing with our dog and we feel incredibly confident in her and instead to use her any time we need to travel! Highly recommend!!”

“Meghan was great with Mimo and took wonderful care of him again. We had a few unexpected issues come up at home and with Mimo’s health, and she was incredibly helpful on managing while we were away.”

“Lauren was great! First time leaving my dogs with a non family member. She made sure to meet me earlier in the day so we could go over everything. She sent me updates of what was going on. She was even able to get one of the more skiddish dogs to go on a walk with her.”

Joanie is a great sitter. She is very capable, responsive and caring. She took good care of our hound girl while we traveled for nearly 2 weeks. We enjoyed her pictures and updates on Cali’s daily activities. We look forward to calling on Joanie again in the future.

Yulia has such a kind spirit that clearly put my senior dog at ease. She was patient and flexible - even working a solution when my flight was delayed coming home. It's tough to find people who are willing to work through the extra steps and challenges of a senior dog - frequent trips outside, help up the stairs, medicines, inconsistent appetite - and Yulia handled it all with such kindness and care. Thank you!

Aislinn was absolutely amazing! She was so easy to work with and took wonderful care of my dog, Elle. Elle has special needs, and Aislinn gave her all the love, attention, and support she required including managing her medication flawlessly. Her communication was top-notch throughout the stay. On top of that, she left my home completely spotless, which shows just how respectful and attentive she is. I will definitely be booking her again
Colleen was incredible! She responded quickly, gave daily updates and even took the dogs on walks and brushed them. Going above and beyond what was listed on the house sitting instructions. House was left tidy/clean. Will definitely use her again. I’m pretty sure the dogs miss her too.
Sophia was THE BEST sitter we've ever had. She asked a lot of questions beforehand to prepare and communicated well when we were away. One of our pups broke a toe while we were away and she took him to the vet promptly (and dealt with his aftercare.) She also dealt with an emergency plumbing situation at our house. We appreciate all that she did for us when we were away. Our two dogs were really happy the whole time and we could tell they (and the house) were well cared for. We would recommend Sophia to anyone and plan to use her again the future.

Paige is amazing - she was so caring and playful with my kitty while I was gone and sent sweet photos and videos to help me know everything is well. My place looked fantastic when I got home. I find her an incredibly trustworthy person and fully recommend any of her services. Thank you, Paige!

Connie was so beyond amazing and reassuring for leaving our beloved little pomchi Miyagi in her care for nearly 10 days. We are so so grateful for her and appreciative of all the extra attention and love she gave to our sweet little baby. She was flexible, communicative, and sweet - we couldnt have asked for a better sitter!!!

Claire was amazing! My pup Havi liked her at our meet and greet, and his instincts were soot on. Claire had great communication, daily updates, and handled a power outage at the house with grace. If you want a mature, responsible and caring dog sitter, I recommend you select Claire. I felt confident on my international travel that Claire had it handled. And she did- including making the bed with new sheets for the next sitter. A+!

I would highly recommend Alison to watch your pet. She watched our 10yr old golden retriever for a week. She walked her, fed her, brushed her, played with her & sent pictures everyday. She even vacuumed my house, washed her sheets & towels. I would definitely use her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Valmont walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Valmont maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Valmont choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
