About: My love for animals started early. I raised two cats from kittens and had an adorable mini poodle-terrier mix for two years. I regularly walk and care for my partner’s two large dogs and two cats, and I’ve done overnight stays for a friend’s puppy. Most recently I’ve been attending puppy yoga, because honestly any excuse to be around animals is a good one! I’m attentive, reliable, and treat every pet like my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m available for dog walks and drop-in visits on weekdays and weekends, with flexible morning and afternoon slots. I keep a consistent schedule so pets get reliable, timely care every visit. Since I come to you, my focus is making your pet feel safe and comfortable in their own home, where they’re happiest. I follow your routines closely, whether that’s feeding schedules, walk routes, or specific instructions. I treat every home with respect and send updates so you always know how your pet is doing.

About: I have lived with furry friends my whole life, lending me years of firsthand experiences dealing with dog and cat ownership from little babies to senior animals and I am familiar with the special care needs that come with different age groups. In addition to dog and cat sitting for family I have several years of experience on Rover providing walking and house sitting care. Every animal has such a vibrant and unique personality and I can't wait to meet yours!
About: I grew up with a big Airedale terrier and currently have a wonderful 16 year old rescue pup. I am a caring, attentive and reliable pet sitter. I am a teacher on summer break with a flexible schedule and availability throughout the day. I’m happy to stop by and make sure your pets are cared for while you are away! I know how important it is for pets to stick to their routine. I follow your instruction carefully, make sure they get the love, attention, and care they need, and keep you updated.
About: Growing up with my husky made me a dog lover from a young age. I feel like I understand and love dogs so much more! I’ve watched many of my friends and family’s dogs while they’re on vacation, so I have experience with many different breeds. I will make sure your fur baby is loved, fed and well exercised. I also have experience handling a leash-reactive husky, so I’m confident working with dogs that need a little extra patience and care. I’m comfortable with dogs of all ages and personalities. I always loved getting photos of my pet so I will make sure to keep you updated as well! Dog walking fits naturally into my day to day. I work on call 3 times a week and attend school throughout the week. I have a lot of flexibility with my schedule! I'm also active and really enjoy spending time outside, so daily walks and playtime are something I look forward to meeting your fur baby! Currently not providing any overnight pet services. I do hope to provide a service in the near future! I can't wait to meet your fur baby!
“Jim was wonderful with our dog Auggie. He responded immediately and was very reliable and kind. He sent wonderful photos and I highly recommend Jim as a dog walker. We will continue to use Jim’s services from this point on into the future.”

About: I have multiple years of experience caring for pets in the area and I am formally trained in animal nursing. I focus on enrichment, exercise, and keeping your pets healthy and well-loved (plus cute photos!). I’m between school semesters and I would love to meet all of your pets in my downtime! I have regular availability and am able to plan my day around you. I recognize the trust I am given when I enter someone’s home, and I always keep the space secure and clean of any pet-related messes. Part of my routine if the client is away is sending a picture including the locked door and house number.
About: I have 2 15-year old cats who use a litter robot and eat a special diet. I would love to own a dog one day once I could afford one, which is why I wanted to work on Rover. I would love to walk and play with dogs, and I always go for daily walks and I love tennis and frisbee. (Basically, I would love to play with your dogs! 😆) I admit that most of my experiences are with cats and that I have limited experience with dogs, but I have babysat and walked a couple of dogs before (pitbull/labrador mix & German shepherd/wolf mix). Please feel free to message me if you have any questions! (I’ve handled snakes, frogs, geckos, and tortoises before since I used to work at a science museum, so I’m open to taking care of other animals too.) I’m currently working part-time, and my availability does fluctuate (I get notified of my shifts 2 weeks in advance), but I always find a way to schedule in a walk. If you’re interested, let’s discuss and see how our schedules fit in with each other’s. My home is not available. For a client’s home, I can feed and play with them. I can also check on your house if you would like. I can go for neighborhood walks as well. Let me know what you have in mind.

About: I've taken care of family dogs and I've volunteered at the rescue shelter "A way home for dogs" in San Diego. The volunteering mostly involves watching and restraining dogs as we got them acclimated to crowds of people. Currently free for the summer, so I'll have plenty of time to care for pets. I have no significant other commitments throughout the week. No children or other pets in my apartment. I'll dog walk and play with them. I live in a apartment complex with a friendly pet policy.
“It was our first time on Rover and Luciana was so kind enough to meet with our pup a couple of days before. We were worried about our pup having separation anxiety because we were going back to the office 4 days a week now.Shadow enjoyed the visits and was very glad to see her for his walks. Luciana made us feel comfortable and communicated well and promptly. We will definitely be booking Luciana for as long as she is available 🙂”

“Melissa and her partner were super reliable and sweet with our large goldendoodle. We could tell our dog loved her walks from all of the pictures Melissa sent us. Will book again!”

About: I offer a unique blend of scientific precision and deep compassion for your pets. For two years, I fostered shy and anxious dogs for the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC). Getting accepted into their program required passing a rigorous vetting process, including interviews, home visits, and specialized training. Through HWAC, I gained extensive experience caring for rescues with complex medical and behavioral needs, including parasites, severe dental issues, and anxiety. I also provided essential behavior and obedience training to help these dogs thrive. Before fostering dogs, I was the proud owner of a diabetic cat for five years. I am completely comfortable with advanced medical care, including tracking blood glucose with a glucometer, administering subcutaneous insulin injections twice daily, and giving oral medications. My background as a scientist allows me to communicate clearly and effectively with veterinarians and clinic staff, ensuring your pet's medical instructions are followed perfectly. Because I currently have no pets of my own and am taking a hiatus from work, I have total availability. I look forward to devoting 100% of my time, skills, and love to your companion here in the San Diego area! 24/7 Flexible Availability (Evenings & Weekends Included) Because I am currently on a professional hiatus, your pet becomes my primary focus. I have complete schedule flexibility to accommodate your exact routine, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Unlike sitters juggling a traditional 9-to-5, I am available for mid-day medical checks, precise feeding times, and extended companionship. Whether you need standard drop-ins or a dedicated presence to ease an anxious pet's separation anxiety, my open schedule allows me to be there whenever you or your pet need me most. Specialized In-Home Care for Your Pet's Comfort I provide premium, attentive care exclusively inside your pet's own home, where they already feel safest and most comfortable. Because I live in a yard-free condominium, I choose not to offer boarding. Instead, I bring my extensive medical and behavioral experience directly to your doorstep. This setup ensures your pet’s routine remains completely uninterrupted, eliminating the stress of a new environment. Whether your cat requires precise, timely insulin injections or your dog needs a patient, structured potty schedule, I adapt entirely to your home's setup. Your pet gets 100% of my focus in the environment they love best, giving you total peace of mind while you are away.
About: Hello, my name is Kim. I am an experienced dog sitter and a huge dog lover. I currently work hybrid at UCSD so i may have to go in the office for a couple of hours m-f but i live 5 mins from my job so when I do go in, I can always come back home quickly. I have plenty of time to play with your pups on the weekend and after work! I like to go to the beach and park as much as possible especially when I’m dog sitting. Pet sitting always keeps me in great spirits and gets my steps in since I love taking them on walks. Your pup would be sleeping in my room where there is plenty of space for a dog bed. I also have floor pillows which dogs seem to gravitate to and for those pups who want to cuddle in bed they are welcomed to do so. Additionally, there’s a dog park in my apartment complex with green space all around so it’s a safe area to walk them. when/if your pet is in my home they would be free to be on furniture and play with their toys in our living room, balcony and my bedroom.

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats for as long as I can remember. I live right near a dog park, and love taking the dogs there on my walks. I do walking, boarding, sitting, and daycare. I am home full time and my partner is often home, so we have plenty of time to love on your best friend! We love taking them to the dog park across the street. We love boarding dogs in our home. Since we can’t commit to getting our own dog, it is our passion to spend time with other dogs!
University City dog parents share their Rover experiences
Sara was the BEST pet sitter we’ve ever had. She was super flexible with timing and came to meet with our dog Cannoli beforehand. She provided detailed updates and lots of silly pictures of our 10 month old puppy. I really appreciated how patient she was with our puppy who is still learning to listen and always takes a bunch of breaks while on walks!

Elise was a great sitter who really listened and followed my instructions for taking care of my dog. During our meet and greet, Elise was comfortable interacting with my dog and my dog really enjoyed playing with her too. Elise sent me picture updates during the walk and I can tell my dog had fun with her too. I would definitely recommend booking Elise's services!

Hannah did an amazing job taking care of Stevie while we were out of town for the weekend. She walked her around the neighborhood making sure to capture pictures and walking time accurately and swiftly! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and friendly helper!

Jennifer is hands down the best! She’s punctual, super flexible, and treats our dogs like her own. Our Bulldog and American Bully get so excited every time she comes by. It’s such a relief knowing they’re being cared for by someone so kind and dependable. I am a repeat customer for a reason!

Madison did a great job with our dogs! She was punctual with her arrival and communicative throughout the walking service we booked. Most importantly, our dogs felt very relaxed and comfortable with her, and enjoyed their outing. We would definitely recommend her!

I truly can’t say enough good things about Luciana. She consistently goes above and beyond, especially with the amazing photos and videos she sends of my fur baby while I’m at work—it gives me so much peace of mind. She’s also an excellent communicator, which makes such a difference. I always feel confident that my baby is safe and well cared for with her. From the very first meeting, my dog jumped right into her arms and gave her nonstop kisses—which honestly tells you everything you need to know ❤️
