About: I worked as a kennel tech for a dog trainer for 2 years and have been volunteering with a dog rescue that saves abused and neglected dogs for the past 6 years. These experiences, as well as raising my own dogs, have given me the knowledge to work with most dogs, but my passion is working with fearful, anxious, and reactive dogs. Working on their time to gain their trust is my specialty and passion. I have experience working through basic obedience, counter conditioning, confidence building, muzzle training, gear shyness, and cooperative care. I also have experience working with dogs that require more intensive care due to feeding routines (such as making homemade food or strict feeding schedules with medications) and grooming maintenance (frequent or routine baths due to coat type or skin conditions). Know that under my care, your pup will be with someone who understands them as an individual and can meet them where they are at. I'm currently attending college online, so I'm almost always available during the week, except when I'm taking care of my own dogs. On weekends, I do market events, so I might not have as much availability throughout the day. Your dog's comfort as well as yours are my top priorities, so I will follow all instructions given regarding care, as well as any notes about behavior given to me. I do like to use food based rewards when applicable, so I will be mindful of any dietary restrictions, sensitivities, and allergies before giving treats. I used to foster medical case kittens when I lived in Georgia to increase their chances of being adopted into their furever homes I currently work part time, so I can love on your furbabies every day except for tuesdays and wednesdays until after 3 PM. Unfortunately, my home is not pet friendly, but I would love to come to your home and make friends with your animals. I am well-versed in most types of dogs- large and small, timid and excited that I exist, aggressive and love spongey. I have experience with pets working on their potty training and fur babies learning boundaries, as well as animals needing special medical attention.

If I have other obligations on those days, my availability will always be up to date. I have 2 dogs for your fur baby to play with, a large fenced yard, and can crate your fur baby if needed. “My Bailey's home away from home!! Ok so a little background- my dog Bailey is a rescue who was physically abused by her previous owner. For this reason, she is utterly terrified of new people because she has a natural distrust for people following early life events. Kristen and her family originally spent time coming to my house to walk Bailey and spend time with her, and Bailey had been doing well with the new dog walkers! However, after learning about Bailey's concerns, Kristen thought it may improve Bailey's situation to have her spend the day at doggy daycare, and let me tell you, she and her family have done an amazing job taking care of Bailey!!! I've never seen her so happy every day when I come to pick her up (and probably even more happy to be dropped off :P). It's only been a few weeks and I can already tell Kristen and her family are making her feel at home away from home, and carefully allowing her to interact with other dogs and humans when Bailey is ready. I've been absolutely overjoyed seeing her improvement in socialization skills, and, really, just how happy and comfortable she is; makes my day! On a side note, following several meetings with a Behavioralist, I'm actively training her to help improve her anxiety and fear toward people. Kristen understands how important this is and has been ensuring Bailey is trained (in the same way I'm training her for continuity sake) while at doggy daycare, since I don't have the opportunity to train her several times throughout the day during the work week. Her obedience has improved, and better yet, she's starting to see new people with a different outlook; she's excited to make new friends! Thank you Kristen!!”

About: I've had two toy poodles in my lifetime, and cared for friends' and family's puppies / dogs whenever they've offered. I've handled small, medium, and large dogs and feel comfortable with them all. Your biggest concern should be that your dog will be too spoiled while they're with me. I'm aware that some dogs may run off, and am alert to the sound of scurrying paws making a beeline for the road. I will be your dog's second best friend and caretaker and be sure to send you photos of our adventures! I volunteered for an NGO called Dogs on Deployment while I lived in San Diego, taking care of deployed military members' pets. Really, I have the biggest heart, will be responsible with your pet, and make sure that everything that you need to get done gets done. I’m currently working part time and I have a coaching practice, so I am pretty flexible with my scheduling. I can and have stayed overnight to take care of pets and I do it with joy. My cat is let outside pretty regularly so that he can get the mental stimulation that he needs as a Siamese. I’ve also leash trained him and he knows a few tricks, as I’m hoping to continue to trail train him to go on backpacking trips with me. He’s already been really receptive. As far as other people’s pets go, I obviously lead with what their pet routine is. I won’t push any of my own trainings on the style of pet ownership of the owner whose pet I’m caring for.
