“I can't thank Melissa enough for taking such good care of my cat while I was away. She followed all the instructions I provided and sent me daily updates with photos and videos, which were such a comfort. When I came back, my cat was happy, healthy, and clearly well-cared for.”

“She is absolutely the best! She was supposed to drop in for 30 minutes, but she spent several hours and even took my dog to the dog park because she knew I’m overwhelmed with the bar exam and moving🥹🥹🥹 I can’t thank her enough and highly recommend her.”

“Rachel was amazing! She gave very detailed Rover card updates, was super responsive, and went above and beyond in cleaning and interacting with my cat. Will definitely rebook :)”

About: Hi! We’re Faith and Nik, lifelong animal lovers who truly believe pets are family. Between the two of us, we’ve had animals our entire lives, including dogs, cats (and even guinea pigs and fish!) and we bring that same care and respect to every pet we care for. Your pet will have plenty of company here. Nik is retired and certified in animal first aid, while Faith works from home, meaning your dog or cat will enjoy continual supervision and affection. They’ll also have a friend in our 11-year-old Lab mix, Nala. She is sweet, gentle, and well-socialized with both cats and dogs, making her the perfect, low-stress companion for visiting pets. We live in a spacious apartment next door to a new park with a nice dog run. Having provided sitting services for friends and family for years, we understand how important routine and comfort are when you’re away. We treat every animal as if they were our own, while following your specific care instructions to the letter and providing regular photo updates so you can have peace of mind. Whether your pet prefers high-energy playtime, cozy cuddles, or just a quiet place to nap, we adapt to their personality to make them feel right at home. We can’t wait to meet you and your furry family member!
“Angela provided outstanding service in taking care of my cat, Finn. She sent pictures of him hiding under rugs and the bed. Made sure his food and water were full and that his litter was clean. I came back from a six-day trip and he was his usual goofy self like I never left! Thanks, Angela!! Five stars well earned :)”

“Susanna is an incredible sitter and was able to come in on time to check on our cat, Mila. She is very detailed with her visits and ensures Mila is a happy camper while we’re away. Thank you!!”

“Mari has lovely warm and calm energy that is great for my cat Charlie - and was super communicative with updates while she was catsitting. Thank you so much Mari!”

“Aniko took excellent care of my cat Penelope! Her updates were very detailed and she took awesome photos. My cat clearly felt very at ease with her. Thank you Aniko!”

“Rebecca was absolutely incredible! She took such great care of my cat Champ. I would HIGHLY recommend her. I will most definitely be reaching back out to her again!”

“As always, Romeo loves when Birger visits. We never have to worry or have any concerns because Birger is very very good with communication, and absolutely dependable. He has a sweet way with our Staffie and knows went to play and went to just let him cuddle.”

About: Experience walking and caring for dogs and cats. I have fostered several animals throughout college and have trained dogs of all ages. My own pet is AKC Caine Good Citizen Certified and I have a research background in dog Vet Care and can make adjustments to care based on breed and any current health issues. I make time to take my own pet out on adventures and I'd love to be able to take yours out for some fun as well! I'm vigilant of potential dangers with care for a pet outside of their home. I take notice of areas/ other pets to avoid and will physically step in to protect your pets boundaries.

“Always great to have Daniela visit our two cats, who love to see her. She provides them their ‘evening’ treats and spends time to love them up when we are away. It’s a great comfort to have Dani visit and ensure all is well when we are away.”
“Katie was great with our shy, anxious cats. She made sure our cat got his daily medicine even tho he’s hard to find with all his hiding spots. She was great with communication and I loved getting all the photos she sent in the check in notes. I could tell the cats were well taken care of and I’d be happy to book with Katie again!”

About: Hello! My name is Janet, and I am dog mom to the 2 most wonderful rescue pups from DCAS, Georgie (our lovable and snuggly pittie basset hound mix) and Cleo (our sassy terrier mix diva with the fierce brows to match the ‘tude). I have had dogs in my home for most of my life, with ages starting from 11 weeks old up until the end of their precious and short lives... and from a wee few pounds up to 77 pounds of muscle! As my husband would say of me, I have never met a dog I didn’t love immediately. I love to play fetch or tug with the energetic pups, give belly rubs to the lush ones, and snuggle with every pup I meet.
“Javier took great care of my cat for two weeks and was always kind, reliable, and responsible. I truly appreciate his dedication and would definitely ask for his help again. Highly recommended.”

“Murray was an excellent cat sitter. He fed and played with my cats every day and even got my most timid cat to come out of hiding. He also took care of some minor things when I asked him like a camera the cats knocked over. I am really glad I hired Murray and Ana to take care of my cats while I was gone - and my cats were glad as well.”

About: I have experience with brachiocephalic breeds as I have three of my own! I have experience working as a Dog Handler at a popular doggy daycare who handled up to 30 dogs. I have experience with puppies and seniors with arthritis. I’m currently working full-time as a Medical Assistant at an Urgent Care and have a few days off during the week where I can fit walking your pup at a daily! I am very careful with anything that is laying out when it comes to my puppers especially living with two pugs who will eat anything and everything!
“I am so happy we found Candiance to check in on our doggy. She is so patient and understanding to our dog’s needs. She has great communication and it was easy for me to trust her to care for our dog.”

Katia was fantastic with our cat and dog. Shes friendly, followed our instructions, and was always super prompt and communicative - even helping us bring in a package. It’s so nice to find a reliable sitter in our new neighborhood. We’ll definitely be rebooking with her - thanks again Katia ☺️

Lisa was absolutely amazing! She watched our two cats and took such great care of them while we were away. She sent lots of updates and pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind and made it clear our cats were happy, comfortable, and loved. She was reliable, thoughtful, and truly went above and beyond. We would absolutely recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy cat sitter!

Marlene was absolutely amazing, and I cannot recommend her highly enough! She took such wonderful care of my two cats while we were away, and I had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such loving hands. She followed every instruction perfectly, made sure my boys were well-fed, and, most importantly, gave them so much love, attention, and affection. She even stayed overnight one of the nights to ensure my senior cat, Mumu, received his medication on time, which meant so much to me. Caring for a pet with medical needs requires patience and dedication, and she handled everything flawlessly. It’s clear that Marlene genuinely loves animals and treats them like they’re her own. She went above and beyond, and I came home to two happy, well-cared-for cats. If you’re looking for someone who is trustworthy, compassionate, reliable, and attentive, Marlene is the person to call. I would trust her with my boys again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Marlene, for taking such incredible care of Mumu and Speedy!

Anastasiia was kind, communicative, and professional. She took great care of our cat, Pip!. She followed all meal time instructions to a tee, kept our litter boxes and the surrounding areas tidy, and played with Pip!, who connected with her from the first visit. She sent us regular updates and photos of Pip! playing (many of them made us laugh). This was our first time going out of town and leaving Pip! for a week, and we are so thankful to have found such a wonderful pet sitter who put our minds at ease. We highly recommend Anastasiia and would not hesitate to reach out to her again for her exceptional care. With gratitude from us and Pip!

Melissa was an excellent sitter for our cat! She was thoughtful and responsive throughout our time away. We felt so relieved knowing our cat was in such caring hands. We’re so grateful for the wonderful, considerate care she provided and would happily book with her again!

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Union City stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Union City. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
