Bethany looked after our cat, Winnie, in our home for five days, and she was absolutely fantastic! From the start, we felt completely at ease leaving Winnie in her care. She looked after Winnie so well, making sure she was happy, fed, and getting plenty of attention. Kept us updated while we were away. On top of being great with Winnie, Bethany left the flat tidy and clean, which we deeply appreciated coming home to. She is reliable, respectful, and a true professional. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a cat sitter!

Sherry was great - Flo had a wonderful time on walks and chilling in the garden and on the sofa. Sherry also kindly watered my plants and left the place clean and tidy with sheets and towels washed for me! Thoroughly recommend and will use again.

Jessie-Lyn stayed at our house for a week to look after our 2 cats. We have 2 cats that hate each other and must be kept apart both inside and out, so it was no easy task for her, especially with one cat that doesnt like strangers. She has done an amazing job. Both cats were well fed, looked after and indeed kept apart. The house was also absolutely spotless when we got back Would definitely use Jessie-Lyn again and would also recommend her to others

About: I provide loving, reliable home from home care backed by real handson experience with dogs of different temperaments and needs. Having two black Labradors of my own, including a blind reactive rescue I adopted three years ago, I’m especially confident with nervous, rescue, reactive, and special-needs dogs, offering calm, patient, and understanding care that helps them feel safe and settled. I currently work from home, which allows me a high level of flexibility throughout the day to provide regular walks, attention, and consistent companionship. At weekends, I have complete flexibility, meaning I can fully adapt to your dog’s schedule and ensure they receive attentive, personalised care. I care for pets in their own home by maintaining their normal routine and creating a calm, reassuring environment while their owner is away. This includes playtime, enrichment, and teaching new tricks to keep them engaged, as well as regular toilet breaks and walks around the neighbourhood if requested. I also ensure they are fed according to their usual schedule and that their water bowl is always kept clean and topped up. I make sure they receive plenty of companionship, affection, and cosy cuddle time so they feel safe, happy, and well cared for in familiar surroundings.

Cerys was absolutely amazing with Biscuit. It was a very short notice booking and Cerys was very accommodating right from the start. Biscuit can be very particular, especially with her medical needs, but Cerys instantly made friends with her. I would 100% recommend her for pet sitting, and I will definitely booking Cerys again

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals my whole life — dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and even the occasional rescue. Caring for pets has always come naturally to me, and I’ve always been the first person friends and family trusted to look after their pets whenever they travelled or needed help. I also have a rescue dog of my own, so I understand the patience, gentleness, and consistency that some pets need to feel safe and comfortable. This experience helps me connect quickly with nervous, shy, or sensitive animals. I’m DBS‑checked and pet first aid certified, and I take pride in offering calm, reliable, and loving care. Whether it’s drop‑in visits, feeding, companionship, or longer overnight stays, I treat every pet as if they were my own — with kindness, routine, and genuine affection. I’m available throughout the week, so I can plan my days around the needs of the pets I’m caring for. I don’t currently offer standalone dog walking, but I’m always happy to walk dogs as part of an overnight stay or longer pet‑sitting booking. Having a flexible schedule means I can give pets plenty of attention, keep to their routines, and make sure they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I care for pets in their owner’s home, where they feel most comfortable and secure. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible such as feeding times, walks (if part of a pet‑sitting stay), playtime, and any little habits that help them feel relaxed. For drop‑in visits, I make sure pets are fed, have fresh water, get some company and playtime, and I always send updates and photos so owners know how their pet is doing. During overnight or longer pet‑sitting stays, I stay in the home to keep pets in their familiar environment. I keep the house tidy, maintain their routine, and give them plenty of attention and reassurance. I don’t offer boarding in my own home, and I don’t provide standalone dog walking but I’m always happy to walk dogs as part of a pet‑sitting booking.

STEVENAGE, SG2

About: Over the years, I’ve been extremely lucky to be trusted to care for friends’ and family members’ dogs while they’re at work, away for weekends, or on holiday. I’ve looked after a variety of breeds, including Labradors, Shiba Inus, and mixed breeds, and I understand that every dog has their own unique personality and needs. Some dogs are happiest relaxing quietly, others love long walks, some enjoy hours of belly rubs, and others just want to play and cuddle. I take the time to really listen to owners and learn about each dog’s routine, preferences, and personality, which helps me provide care that feels familiar and comfortable for them. This individual approach is what has led to trusted, ongoing dog-sitting relationships. I truly believe no two dogs are ever the same, and I care for each one as if they were my own. I currently work full-time Monday to Friday, but I’m available for local walks or drop-ins during my lunch breaks. With notice, I’m also available from Friday evening through to Sunday evening, to help care for your pets. I’m reliable, organised, and happy to plan ahead to make sure your pet’s needs fit comfortably into my routine. I had my cat Gizzy for 8 years in our 3-bedroom home, where she was free to roam and enjoy our large, fully fenced garden. She loved spending hours basking in the sun on our decking during the spring and summer months. Inside, she had full access to furniture and especially loved relaxing on the sofa. When caring for friends’ or neighbours’ pets, I follow their instructions carefully and respect their home and routines. I’m often entrusted with a key and any special requirements their pets may have. I prioritise safety, comfort, and creating a loving environment so every pet feels secure, happy, and well cared for while in my care.

About: I have just graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Bristol and will be starting my first job as a small animal vet (dogs and cats) in August. I have a Cocker spaniel, Milo, who is 6 years old. For 4 years prior to getting Milo, I walked my neighbour’s Golden retriever daily and our friend’s rescue dog comes for weekends sometimes. As a vet, I am trained in injecting and giving medication to dogs, if this is required, as well as first aid and triage. I have just qualified as a vet from the University of Bristol and have the summer off prior to starting my vet job in August so have high availability to walk dogs/pet sit from now until end of July. I can walk dogs anytime from 7am-8pm 7 days a week and can pet sit whenever. I have a car and 2 pet seat belts so can transport your dog(s) to their favourite walking spots if transport is required. I will adhere to whatever routine your pet is used to when dog sitting: including walks, meal times, house rules, etc. If your dog is friendly and enjoys playing with other dogs, I can introduce them to my cocker spaniel, Milo. I have a large fenced garden on a 1/3 acre plot. My cocker spaniel is very friendly and gets on well with other dogs. I can accommodate dogs in a crate or bed, depending on their specific needs. If any medication is required, I can give them that.

About: Hi! I offer friendly, reliable pet sitting for when you can’t be there. Whether it’s daily visits, walks, overnight stays, or just some extra playtime and cuddles, I’ll make sure your pets feel happy, safe, and loved in their own home. I treat every pet like they’re my own and always keep you updated while you’re away — so you can relax knowing they’re in good hands! I’ll be finishing my studies next year to become a fully qualified veterinary nurse. I am able to safely and responsibly administer all types of medications should your pet require any. I have been pet sitting for the past 5 years, looking after a range of different animals. I am respectful and trustworthy, so rest assured your house will be clean and well looked after whilst you are away! I currently work full-time 3 days a week at a Vets in Watford alongside my studies. My long days are Tuesday&Thursday, but I will always do my best to accommodate for you and your furry friends! Please feel free to drop a message if you have any questions or would like to discuss my services further! 🐾 At home, I have a Westie, a DSH Ginger cat and 2 horses. I’m knowledgeable and reliable when it comes to pet ownership and care. Unfortunately, I don’t currently offer boarding at my own home due to having my own pets, but do offer house-sitting whether thats dropping in throughout the day and/or living in at your property. Whatever works for you and makes your pet more comfortable.

About: During my final year of university, I regularly walked dogs for owners and really enjoyed the experience. Having grown up with multiple dogs, I’m experienced with different breeds. I love walking and thought this would be a great way to combine both loves. Currently I have plenty of time to walk dogs. I provide pictures and updates, whilst ensuring the dog has a great time. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I have a lot of spare time at the moment so am available at all times of the day. I have a car and can easily get to homes to pick up dogs. I enjoy long walks and am more than happy to care and walk for a more energetic dog or a slower one. As an avid walker, I have a wealth of knowledge of local routes to ensure the dogs have a safe space to run around off lead if the owners would like- provided recall is good. I am able to drive to homes to collect or look after dogs. I send regular photo updates and love giving cuddles to dogs with separation anxiety.

Lucia took great care of our two dogs and was wonderful in adapting to their needs and personalities. FAQs for House Sitting - Stevenage

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Stevenage on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 15,017 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Stevenage. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Stevenage walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stevenage choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
