“It was lovely to meet Shelly and her family and they did a fantastic job of looking after our cats! The visit report cards were excellent, and we are very pleased that our cats were so clearly happy and well cared for during their visits. Thank you very much for cat sitting for us 🩷”

“I couldn't recommend Alex enough! She instantly gain my trust, when she came to meet my puppy before the first booking. She went on a walk with us, asked questions to ensure she had all the information that she needed in order to care for him properly. On the day she sent me lovely photos and left a very thorough update. She even stayed longer that the booking stated, so my puppy could have a longer walk. Super trustworthy person and loving sitter, we'll definitely be booking her again! Thank you so much Alex for looking after my little puppy!”

“Kept me updated through the whole visit and gave him lots of cuddles and attention. A massive weight off my shoulders having such a trustworthy person checking on my little cat. Would 100% recommend x”

About: I've always had a variety of pets and a home isn't the same without one! I would love to look after your pet whenever you need. I am available evening, weekends and some afternoon. I can do it full-time including weekends and all year. I prefer home visits and taking care of the dogs on their home environment. I am an honest, reliable and conscientious man, who takes pride in leaving everything neat and tidy. Character references available on request. Also very flexible and happy to follow care instructions precisely.

About: I’ve spent my entire life around animals, starting with the two cats, two bearded dragons and many rabbits I grew up with. For the past five years, my girlfriend and I have shared our home with a Golden Retriever and a British Shorthair, so I’m well-versed in both maximum energy and maximum sass. I understand that every pet has a different personality. I’m comfortable going for a long, active walk with a Golden and giving a cat the space it needs while making sure it’s fed and happy. I’m reliable, I actually enjoy the company of animals, and I’m happy to stick to whatever specific routine or quirks your pets might have while you're away. I work a field-based role Monday through Friday, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout the day. Unlike a typical office job, I have the ability to adjust my whereabouts and check in on your pets when they actually need it, rather than just before or after a 9-to-5. I’m also fully available on weekends for longer walks or boarding. I only offer care in the pet owner's home, as I find animals are much more relaxed in their own environment. I’m extremely respectful of your space and mindful of security. Having a Golden Retriever and a British Shorthair of my own, I know how important it is to keep their existing routine; feeding, exercise, and meds exactly as they expect it. I’m happy to send regular photo updates so you have total peace of mind while you're away.

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals my whole life — dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and even the occasional rescue. Caring for pets has always come naturally to me, and I’ve always been the first person friends and family trusted to look after their pets whenever they travelled or needed help. I also have a rescue dog of my own, so I understand the patience, gentleness, and consistency that some pets need to feel safe and comfortable. This experience helps me connect quickly with nervous, shy, or sensitive animals. I’m DBS‑checked and pet first aid certified, and I take pride in offering calm, reliable, and loving care. Whether it’s drop‑in visits, feeding, companionship, or longer overnight stays, I treat every pet as if they were my own — with kindness, routine, and genuine affection. I’m available throughout the week, so I can plan my days around the needs of the pets I’m caring for. I don’t currently offer standalone dog walking, but I’m always happy to walk dogs as part of an overnight stay or longer pet‑sitting booking. Having a flexible schedule means I can give pets plenty of attention, keep to their routines, and make sure they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I care for pets in their owner’s home, where they feel most comfortable and secure. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible such as feeding times, walks (if part of a pet‑sitting stay), playtime, and any little habits that help them feel relaxed. For drop‑in visits, I make sure pets are fed, have fresh water, get some company and playtime, and I always send updates and photos so owners know how their pet is doing. During overnight or longer pet‑sitting stays, I stay in the home to keep pets in their familiar environment. I keep the house tidy, maintain their routine, and give them plenty of attention and reassurance. I don’t offer boarding in my own home, and I don’t provide standalone dog walking but I’m always happy to walk dogs as part of a pet‑sitting booking.

About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats since I was a child and have always been comfortable around animals of different sizes, breeds, and personalities. Friends and family have regularly trusted me to feed, walk, play with, and look after their pets while they were away. I understand how important patience, attention, and routine are to keeping pets happy and comfortable. I’m currently working from home, so I have plenty of time to look after your cats and dogs. I’m available for boarding during both weekdays and weekends. We have a fenced front garden where pets can safely play and enjoy some outdoor time. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walks, medication, and routines, to help pets feel comfortable and at home. Since I work from home, I’m able to supervise them throughout the day and keep them company.

About: I have had dogs all my life, I have fed them, walked them, played with them and looked after them while my parents have been away, I would take good care of any type of dogs and I’m understanding of different types of behaviours I am currently working full time but work from home 3 days a week so I am mostly flexible. I am free every evening during the week and most weekends and would love to help out where I can. I have a fenced nice sized garden and a friendly golden retriever that can play all day long! About: Over the years, I’ve been extremely lucky to be trusted to care for friends’ and family members’ dogs while they’re at work, away for weekends, or on holiday. I’ve looked after a variety of breeds, including Labradors, Shiba Inus, and mixed breeds, and I understand that every dog has their own unique personality and needs. Some dogs are happiest relaxing quietly, others love long walks, some enjoy hours of belly rubs, and others just want to play and cuddle. I take the time to really listen to owners and learn about each dog’s routine, preferences, and personality, which helps me provide care that feels familiar and comfortable for them. This individual approach is what has led to trusted, ongoing dog-sitting relationships. I truly believe no two dogs are ever the same, and I care for each one as if they were my own. I currently work full-time Monday to Friday, but I’m available for local walks or drop-ins during my lunch breaks. With notice, I’m also available from Friday evening through to Sunday evening, to help care for your pets. I’m reliable, organised, and happy to plan ahead to make sure your pet’s needs fit comfortably into my routine. I had my cat Gizzy for 8 years in our 3-bedroom home, where she was free to roam and enjoy our large, fully fenced garden. She loved spending hours basking in the sun on our decking during the spring and summer months. Inside, she had full access to furniture and especially loved relaxing on the sofa. When caring for friends’ or neighbours’ pets, I follow their instructions carefully and respect their home and routines. I’m often entrusted with a key and any special requirements their pets may have. I prioritise safety, comfort, and creating a loving environment so every pet feels secure, happy, and well cared for while in my care.

Whether it's cuddling on the couch or going for long walks, being around animals has always been a big part of who I am. What makes me different from other sitters? I treat every dog like my own. I’m dependable, communicative, and genuinely passionate about making sure your furry friend is well cared for. Whether your dog is playful and energetic or calm and cuddly, I’m here to give them the attention and care they deserve. I’d love to meet your pup! I currently work part time right now in the NHS, WFH on Wednesdays, I’m free Thursdays and Fridays for looking after your fur babies! Willing to be free for cuddles and attention! Cat owners share their Rover experiences - Stevenage
This was my first time booking a cat sitter and I feel like I struck gold finding Julia, she was more than accommodating with my last minute booking. My little baby willow doesn’t come out of hiding for anyone new or even someone familiar but warmed to Julia instantly and i received lovely photos so I knew she was ok. Would highly recommend and I will be a returning client. Thank you again Julia, you really are someone special ❤️

We couldn't be happier with the care Alison gave our cat Milo while we were away. From the moment we left, we felt completely at ease — regular updates, photos, and messages showing Milo was happy and well looked after. He was clearly in safe, loving hands, and we came home to a relaxed, contented cat. Highly recommended — we'll absolutely be booking Alison again!
Billie was an amazing cat sitter! He took such good care with my two skitty but curious cats and sent me a lot of update photos and told me what they were up to which was so appreciated! Would not hesitate to use him again and recommend to my friends. Makes me feel happy to book more holidays knowing Billie can hopefully take care of them if needed! 100% great, 6/5 stars if I could :) thank you Billie!

Jasmine is fantastic! My cat is really nervous around a new people, and the fact that she has experience with animal behavior was a major plus for me. She’s so kind and attentive so I knew I was leaving Annie in good hands. She gave lots of updates and pictures so I felt at ease. Definitely book Jasmine, she’s great and I’ll definitely be using her services again!

Helen was very attentive from start to finish with care and updates throughout, she went above and beyond. It is clear she loves animals and that animals love her back! Our little cat warmed to Helen instantly. She went as far as sharing some of her Christmas turkey with our cat, which he loved. Thank you, can’t recommend enough!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
