“Vanessa was absolutely perfect. She made my rescue shorthair feel comfortable and gave space until they both became best buddies. I am well impressed by Vanessa’s calm and patient demeanour to Gucci, professionalism and friendly manners. What I also appreciated is that she took the time to come and meet Gucci first and didn’t force Gucci to interact. She just gave her time and space and ultimately she won Gucci’s heart and trust. I have no doubts I’ll book her again and again 🥳💕”

“Amelia was fantastic with our fur baby, Brodie. First of all, she was excellent at communicating with us from our initial enquiry through to the end of her pet sitting with Brodie. She sent lots of photos, followed instructions perfectly, wasn’t phased by potential rain and managed to get in a nice long walk with Brodie, and again communicated really well. We will definitely call on her again!”

“Dorothea dog-sat at ours for 4 nights and was here the whole time, unlike some 'sitters' who go out to work or don't sleep over. She was marvelous with our 2 demanding mini-dachshunds. They fell for her within minutes, despite normally being very suspicious of strangers. Dorothea was highly responsive, accommodating and flexible with us and our dogs, as well as being a lovely person with an interesting background. She went out of her way to be super-helpful when she was here and left our house clean and tidy when she left. I have no hesitation in recommending Dorothea as a kind and thoughtful Dog-Sitter-Plus.”

“Rosco was suitably tired when we returned, indicating that he'd had lots of walks. Geoff respected our home and we wouldn't have known someone had been staying there. Geoff's definitely added to our regular "go to" list for next time.”

About: I've owned and cared for dogs throughout my life, from childhood to the present day. This has given me extensive hands-on experience with daily care, exercise, feeding routines, basic training reinforcement, and understanding canine behaviour. I am comfortable handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments and understand the importance of providing safe, enjoyable walks tailored to each dog's individual needs. I offer flexible availability throughout the week and will always do my best to accommodate your pet's routine. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I aim to provide reliable care and clear communication at all times. Your pet's safety, comfort, and wellbeing are my highest priorities. I understand that every pet is unique, with their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to ensure they receive care tailored to them. Whether providing walks, drop-in visits, or pet sitting, I always aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment where pets feel secure and cared for. I pay close attention to their behaviour and wellbeing and will keep you updated so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I understand the trust involved in caring for your pet and, where applicable, having access to your home. You can expect reliability, respect, and clear communication at all times.
“April’s warmth immediately put us at ease during a meet and greet and then when she looked after our boy was really communicative, lots of pictures and updates. We’d happily use again for sure.”

“Megan and Harry were absolutely stellar! They took care of Paddington at our house for an overnight stay and everything went great. Paddington can be quite nervous but they made him feel safe straight away and we found him very happy when we got back. We’ll definitely trust them with Paddington again.”

“My puppy had a fantastic time being looked after by Julia, she is so caring and sends lots of regular updates of walks and play time. I would recommend Julia to anyone, her love for dogs and taking great care of them is clear to see. My dog can’t wait to visit again!”

Hayley is an exceptional dog-sitter. I cannot recommend her highly enough! From the very beginning, she was incredibly thoughtful, insisting on getting to know my dog, Grace, before the first sitting to ensure a comfortable transition. Her gentle and kind nature put Grace (and I!) at ease immediately. I looked forward to her lovely daily updates, which made it clear she was truly invested in giving Grace the best possible experience. Beyond the great pet care, she was extremely respectful of our home. It’s such a relief to travel knowing everything is in such capable, caring hands.

Sophie was a real gem. She house sat for us and took care of our cavapoo, Bella, when we went skiing over new year. She made the effort to meet up with us twice before the trip to meet Bella and walkthrough the house. Bella is a sensitive pup, but Sophie spent a lot of time with her, taking her for daily walks, administering her medication and cuddling with her on the couch. We received daily updates with pictures and also returned from the trip to a clean house and washed bedding. I could not recommend Sophie more!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Spelthorne walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Spelthorne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
