“We cannot recommend Julia highly enough! She’s an absolutely lovely person, so calm and kind to our dogs. She is so polite and friendly and is always on time. Our dogs love her & are so pleased to see her each time she comes.”

“Rosco was suitably tired when we returned, indicating that he'd had lots of walks. Geoff respected our home and we wouldn't have known someone had been staying there. Geoff's definitely added to our regular "go to" list for next time.”

About: I've owned and cared for dogs throughout my life, from childhood to the present day. This has given me extensive hands-on experience with daily care, exercise, feeding routines, basic training reinforcement, and understanding canine behaviour. I offer flexible availability throughout the week and will always do my best to accommodate your pet's routine. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I aim to provide reliable care and clear communication at all times. Your pet's safety, comfort, and wellbeing are my highest priorities. I understand that every pet is unique, with their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to ensure they receive care tailored to them. Whether providing walks, drop-in visits, or pet sitting, I always aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment where pets feel secure and cared for. I pay close attention to their behaviour and wellbeing and will keep you updated so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I understand the trust involved in caring for your pet and, where applicable, having access to your home. You can expect reliability, respect, and clear communication at all times.
About: Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and they genuinely are my favourite things in the world! I feel completely myself when I’m around them and absolutely love getting to know each dog’s individual personality and little quirks. Over the years I’ve regularly looked after and cared for dogs belonging to friends, family and neighbours, and I’ve now started dog walking too. I’m caring, patient and reliable, and I’ll always treat every dog in my care with the same love and attention I would give my own. I’m very flexible and happy to arrange visits around whatever works best for you and your furry child (or children!). 🐾 I want you to feel completely comfortable knowing they’re getting plenty of love, attention and company while you’re away. I’m especially patient with nervous, anxious or shy animals, always going at their pace, respecting their boundaries and giving them space to feel safe and comfortable. Whether you need regular visits or occasional care, I’m more than happy to work around your routine. I’ll always care for your pets as if they were my own. I’ll follow their usual routine closely, including feeding, fresh water, litter trays, playtime and, most importantly, lots of love and attention! I completely understand how important it is to trust someone in your home with your furry family member, so their safety, happiness and comfort will always come first.
“April looked after our giant alaskan malamute as a house sitter for a week, We were super happy with the efforts taken to understand him and look after him in his normal environment (he gets anxious at the kennels). We had regular updates and can tell Loki received lots of love and attention whilst we were away. Thanks for looking after Loki we hope we can do it again soon.”

“Amelia put us at ease with regular updates of our fluffy prince. Great communication and it was definitely obvious that he had fallen for her too as he gave her lots of cuddles. Amelia was very attentive and gave Winston some eye drops when his eye looked a bit weepy. Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you again soon.”

“Sam is a great guy. He's 100% reliable and trustworthy and was brilliant with my Cavapoo puppy 'Noodle'. Sam is really calm and reassuring and Noodle took to him straight away. It made me feel confident that Noodle was in very safe hands. I had a problem getting cover for one of the days I was away and Sam stepped in and saved the day. I will definitely be booking Sam again 😀”

“Tao was lovely and very attentive looking after our frenchie for a week. We knew he was in safe hands and was sent regular updates and lovely photos. Thank you so much x”

Thank you so much Ella for taking such good care of our boys 🫶🏻”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Spelthorne
Hayley is an exceptional dog-sitter. I cannot recommend her highly enough! From the very beginning, she was incredibly thoughtful, insisting on getting to know my dog, Grace, before the first sitting to ensure a comfortable transition. Her gentle and kind nature put Grace (and I!) at ease immediately. I looked forward to her lovely daily updates, which made it clear she was truly invested in giving Grace the best possible experience. Beyond the great pet care, she was extremely respectful of our home. It’s such a relief to travel knowing everything is in such capable, caring hands.

Sophie was a real gem. She house sat for us and took care of our cavapoo, Bella, when we went skiing over new year. She made the effort to meet up with us twice before the trip to meet Bella and walkthrough the house. Bella is a sensitive pup, but Sophie spent a lot of time with her, taking her for daily walks, administering her medication and cuddling with her on the couch. We received daily updates with pictures and also returned from the trip to a clean house and washed bedding. I could not recommend Sophie more!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Spelthorne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
