I can't say enough good things about Nia! She was absolutely amazing with my dog, Bear. From the moment I dropped him off, I knew he was in good hands. Nia went above and beyond to make sure Bear felt comfortable and loved. What really impressed me was how well she kept in touch. I loved receiving videos and pictures of Bear enjoying his walks and spending time with her family. It was so reassuring to see him happy and well-cared for while we were away. I'm also incredibly grateful that Nia was able to take Bear on such short notice. It really took a load off my mind knowing he was with someone so caring and responsible. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter! Thanks again, Nia

About: This is for myself and my Wife Beth. We’ve been around dogs for as long as we can remember, having grown up with dogs in our families from a young age. For the past 6 years, we’ve had a dog of our own and understand the love, care, attention, and routine that dogs need to be happy and comfortable. Over the years, we’ve also regularly cared for dogs belonging to family and friends while they were away, giving us experience with different breeds, personalities, and needs. We’ve always enjoyed looking after dogs and have been encouraged by friends and family to share our experience with others through Rover. We’re now excited to take the leap and offer a safe, caring, and loving environment for your dog. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, or overnight stays, we’ll treat your dog as if they were our own, ensuring they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while you’re away. We understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and we’ll do everything we can to make both you and your dog feel comfortable and reassured. Safety, Trust & Environment Your dog’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. We live in a spacious four-bedroom home with plenty of room for dogs to relax, play, and feel at home. Our property benefits from a gated driveway at the front and a fully fenced and secure garden at the rear, providing a safe outdoor space for supervised play and exercise. We maintain a clean, dog-friendly environment and always ensure dogs are secure and well cared for during their stay. We understand that every dog is different, so we’ll take the time to learn about their routine, preferences, and any specific needs to help them feel comfortable and settled while they’re with us.

Susana cared for my pooch as if he was a little prince. Lots of photos and a video to show me how Woody was getting on and he always looked happy and relaxed. When he was off his food and I mentioned Woody liked chicken, it was no trouble for Susana to cook some for him. I had no worries at all, he was in the best care. Will definitely be having Susana to look after Woody again. Xx

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them comes naturally to me. I'm a caring, patient person who genuinely enjoys spending time with pets, whether that's playing with them, giving them attention, or helping them stick to their usual routine. I work part time in a local school, which gives me plenty of flexibility for walks, drop-in visits, playtime, and overnight stays. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I aim to provide the utmost level of care and affection. I'll also keep you updated with messages and photos, so you'll always know your pet is happy and having a great time. Throughout the day, I make time for play, cuddles, training, and keeping pets engaged and happy. I currently work part-time in a local school so have plenty of time to give your pet the attention they deserve and ensure they feel relaxed, loved, and well looked after. A typical day with me includes plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship. I love being outdoors and am a confident walker, so your dog can enjoy long, enriching walks and lots of opportunities to explore. If we come back muddy after an adventure, there's no need to worry - I’ll make sure your dog gets cleaned up before settling back in. I also have a small enclosed garden to keep your dog safe if they are staying with me and I'll make sure to keep you updated with messages and photos.

My husband and I were confident that our young dog Cooper would have a fabulous time with Jess and be well looked after for his mini holiday with her. He has stayed overnight with her before and settled really well with her yet again. We very much appreciate the fun and care she has provided for Cooper and we would definitely book in with Jess again in the future. 🙂

About: We’ve grown up with dogs and have been around them most of our lives, so we’re very comfortable handling their day-to-day needs. We also regularly look after friends’ dogs, which has given us experience with a range of breeds, temperaments, and routines. We both work from home every day, so dogs in our care get plenty of attention, supervision, and company throughout the day. We’re used to managing feeding, walks, and general care, and we make sure to stick to each dog’s usual routine to help them stay settled while their owners are away. During the week, we both work from home, with one office day each scheduled on different days, ensuring that there is always one of us at home to care for the dog. We finish work at 3pm, allowing plenty of time for an evening walk and attention. On weekends, we are not working, so the dog would enjoy more dedicated time with us, often including day trips typically to the beach. Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are a top priority. The property features a secure, fully fenced garden with a padlocked gate, providing a safe outdoor space for exercise and play, including a generous area of natural grass. We are also fully licensed by the local council for dog sitting, meaning the home has been inspected and approved to meet required safety standards. For added peace of mind, we do not own any dogs and never mix pets from different households, ensuring your dog receives dedicated care and a calm, controlled environment at all times.

We left our dog Leia with Sophie for the weekend, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This was the first time we’ve left Leia with anyone other than family and she made us feel at ease. We received regular updates and videos, which really made a difference and reassured us while we were away. Leia came home happy and clearly very well looked after. About: I have always been around dogs since I was a young child, starting with my German Shepherds, Sky and Rose, who were my first experience of family pets. We later acquired two smaller breeds, Lexi (Lhasa Apso X Yorkeshire Terrier) and Sandy (Chihuahua X Shih Tzu), and as I was older then - I took more responsibility with regards to walking, feeding and bathing them. When I met my partner a few years ago, we got our own dog Buddy, who is a Dachshund X Springer Spaniel, and I moved out. Buddy definitely keeps me on my toes with his boundless energy and personality! As you can see, I have extensive experience caring for different breeds of dogs and understanding their individual needs. Buddy had some trouble with nervousness and separation anxiety when he was a puppy and we worked on building his confidence and setting boundaries with a dog behaviourist in our home, which taught me a lot about caring for dogs with more complex behavioural needs. I also have experience when it comes to caring for cats as I regularly care for and enjoy spending time with my brothers 2 cats, especially when they are away for periods of time. I currently work part-time and so I have that extra time to be able to provide care for, or walk your pets hopefully when you would require me to. I walk Buddy twice a day, morning and early evening, so dogs who are happy to be walked alongside other dogs could also join us on these walks. When providing doggy day-care services, I have a large back yard and fenced in front yard, and Buddy has plenty of toys and treats he absolutely doesn't mind sharing with friends. When caring for pets in your own home, I am extremely clean and tidy, and would ensure I was always respectful in your environment, whilst ensuring your pet is well-cared for and most importantly, has plenty of fun whilst you are away!

About: I have been responsible for my family Labrador Sonny for the last 12 years. My absolute heart and soul! I walk dogs locally in my spare time, pairing my love for the outdoors and my passion for dogs. I also have experience dog sitting in exchange for accomodation abroad which I absolutely love doing! Please feel free to contact me about anything you might need, my schedule is very flexible and I’m always happy to help out in anyway I can:) thank you for considering me. I work a zero hour hospitality job, so usually my work schedule can tailor to your needs. A usual day looks like a healthy breakfast, a big long walk usually between a hour-two hours, then I go to work usually not more than a 5 hour shift, I like cosy evenings at home or strolling on the beach. I genuinely have such a good routine for a dog to slot right in I believe. I care for pets by making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after in either my home or the owner’s home. I follow the pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, exercise, and any specific care instructions. I provide plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship to keep them happy and relaxed. I also maintain a clean environment, monitor their health and behavior, and keep owners updated with messages or photos for peace of mind. I have a fenced garden and live right on the beach for plenty of outdoor time. Also a large park close by!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
